We will give free lessons about how to make ERP/CRM/DMS based on the Zope
framework and TioLive platform. The events takes place in Natal, state of Rio

Re: [Zope-dev] [Zope] App isolation

2000-08-01 Thread Jacques Exelrud

I´m waiting for Zope´s support to SOAP but while it´s not there I´m
tetsing a COM object that will handle the SOAP communication and will be
calling this component using win32com moudle with Python. In fact that´s
what I´m testing right now but untill now this COM object is not building
the right SOAP message and based on that it´s not working.
Do you know when we are supposed to have SOAP support on Zope ?

I'm fairly sure there's already a Zope COM interface, and I know Zope
 can
do xml-rpc. And SOAP support is coming. So I would suggest building it
 as an XMLRPC
or SOAP server, and then use the Zope client functionality already there
 to
connect to it. I wouldn't do COM because I'm an Open Source bigot.

[Zope-dev] [Zope] App isolation

2000-07-27 Thread Jacques Exelrud

Not sure if this list is the best place to put such question but here it
is...
I need to develop what would be a product if only Zope was the target.
As it´s not I was thinking what could I do to not need to build such app
twice:
I came to 2 options both involving building a server of some kind and
using Python to connect to this server.

1st
Build the app as a COM server (the target OS is Windows) and using
Python support build an interface to this COM server as a Zope
product

2nd
Build the app as a XMLRPC server and using Python support build an
interface to this XMLRPC server

The second options is better because I´m not attached to any platform
but, as I said, that´s not an issue right now.

Good options would be having a JVM running "inside" Zope so that jave
objects could be accessed by it or SOAP Zope support beeing ready...

Any sugestions on any of those or a 3rd option ?

Thanks in advance,
    Jacques

Re: [Zope] Zope and Tomcat

2000-07-27 Thread Jacques Exelrud

Do you have a timeframe for this to avaiable ?

There is a plan to integrate the java technology (mainly JSP servlet)
into
the Zope engine in order to use only one web extension for the content
 management and java program.

  Any suggestions?

Using Win98 for database and WWW? No.

 Upgrade!

win98 = Linux of FreeBSD
Access = PostgreSQL or MySQL or Interbase
ODBC DA = corresponding DA

I´m NOT starting a OS war here but that sugestion is probably harder to
implement then upgrading to NT and SQL Server. If Jelle Gerbrandy is using
Win98/Access there must be a reason (I cannot think of any good one :) )
Maybe just changing Access to MySQL or Interbase (Interbase runs under
Win98, MySQL I´m not sure, I think it does) would be a middle term as
changing OS is a bigger move (I would change as in my opinnion Win98 is NOT
an end user OS not a developer one)
