I know I may be a bit pushy, but..

the weekend has come and gone, so I'm wondering if something has
happened :)

Wichert.

 At the CMF-mini-sprint in Potsdam we decided to try to resolve most of
 the five.localsitemanager issues and to document the rest as known
 restrictions. (Each sitemanager used in CMF has to be a
 five.localsitemanager or a five.sitemanager.)

 The approach we tried at the sprint doesn't work - I just reverted those
 checkins. (Sorry for the noise on the trunk - a branch would have been
 better for experiments like that.)

 But we now have some more tests and a better understanding of how to
 make them pass. I plan to make an other attempt next weekend. If that
 isn't successful, I'm fine with reverting all the tools-as-utilities
 changes.

I better should have used dates :(

At least in German the term next weekend is ambiguous. I wrote my
email on Thursday evening and the last weekend started the next day, so
in my view it was this weekend. By next weekend I did mean the
weekend *after* this weekend. Sorry.

[Zope-CMF] Fixing STX for non-ascii

2007-06-13 Thread Charlie Clark

Hi,

since my patch to support ReST for Documents ( Newsitems - thanks to
Jens for this), I've gone back to looking at what was my original
problem: STX choking with non-ascii text. From my tests this
afternoon this looks surprisingly easy to fix. This is a sample
method from zope.structuredtext.document.py (which is used for Zope
2.10 and up but looks little more than a simple reimplementation of
the StructuredText package)

def doc_strong(self,
   s,
   expr = re.compile('\*\*([\w%s\s]+?)\*\*' %
(strongem_punc), re.UNICODE).search # works with non-ASCII
   # expr = re.compile(r'\*\*([%s%s%s\s]+?)\*\*' %
(letters, digits, strongem_punc)).search # fails with non-ASCII
   #expr = re.compile(r'\s*\*\*([ \n\r%s0-9.:/;,
\'\\?\-\_\/\=\-\\\(\)]+)\*\*(?!\*|-)' % letters).search, # old
expr, inconsistent punc, failed to cross newlines.

):

r=expr(s)
if r:
start, end = r.span(1)
return (stng.StructuredTextStrong(s[start:end]),
start-2, end+2)

It seems simply adding the re.UNICODE flag and using \w rather than
string.letters + string.digits is sufficient. However, given my
relative inexperience with regexes this could simply be naïvety on my
part.

If this does indeed work does a patch need submitting for both Zope
2.1x and Zope 3?

The zope.structuredtext package is a Zope 3 package, so without
looking closely I would assume no patches would be needed for Zope
2.x, since it just uses the Zope 3 package.

Okay, I'll make a submission to the Zope 3 collector and see what
comes of it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do the cleanup separately. I think it's
worth it in case anyone wants to look at this code which is pretty
cryptic at times and also inconsistent.

Can I actually test this module in Zope 2?
bin/zopectl test -s zope.structuredtext doesn't run any tests.

If I need to run tests for packages that are not part of my instance
home I go to the root of my software home and use test.py manually:

You need to tell it where to search:

  $ bin/zopectl --test-path /path/to/Zope2/lib/python \
