This entire 'electroclash' revival seems like an
older person's version of being a raver. Though the
electroclash style doesn't require the baggy pants and
glowsticks, the electro version does require a
wardrobe, haircut and certain attitude. It doesn't
surprise me that this is booming in NYC. A

I think it has a lot to do with the resurgence of cocain as the drug of
choice. Without ever have gone to an Electroclash event - it calls to my
mind things I've heard/read/seen on Studio 54. All glam - except the music
has a bigger part but

electroclash = nyc art/fashion/social scene
electro = the music (regardless of who shows up/scene)
except sometimes the music is little more than the scene itself, ala
