2010-07-21 Thread gautam
Dear Kanchanji,

You deserve to be thanked by all of us for your lead to address the problem
of our friends which they are facing in seeking suitable writers for their
banking and other competitive exams. May I know where and what kind of
legal proceeding you have initiated? And that if any type of cooperation is
needed from the people who are interested in this matter.

So for the nature of the problem is concerned, the main problem which has
been brought to my notice by the people in Karnataka or as many friends have
expressed on list is that they have to face difficulty in getting a suitable
writer with aggregate marks less than 60% in his/her last exam.

With kind regards,

[AI] Problem in accessing mouse-over links in web-pages

2010-07-21 Thread Amit Gupta

Dear Friends,
I face problem in accessing mouse-over links in certain web pages using
JAWS 10. Access of these links requires selection from pop-up menu after
placing mouse pointer over the link. Actually, these links are usually
associated with certain scripts (e. g. JavaScript code). Thus, it requires
help from a sighted person to access such links.

Is there a way for accessing these links using JAWS 10?

If you are already using the latest drivers, try re-installing these drivers
and restart the system. Once this is done, try downloading and installing
the latest video intercept.

Note: The video intercept driver is valid for JAWS versions 9 through 11 and
MAGic 11.

1.Select the appropriate video intercept link (32-bit or 64-bit) that
appears at the end of this procedure. If your corporate firewall prevents
you from downloading files using FTP (File Transfer Protocol), use the HTTP
(Hypertext Transfer Protocol) links instead.
2.When the dialog box opens, choose Save and save the file to the root of
your thumb drive. (If needed, this file will let you install the video
intercept driver on any computer that does not already have it installed.)

JAWS/MAGic 32-bit Video Intercept (32.0 MB - FTP download)
ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/FSVideoIntercept-32bit.exe

JAWS/MAGic 64-bit Video Intercept (33.9 MB - FTP download)
ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/FSVideoIntercept-64bit.exe

if this not work, you should format and reinstall your system.
thanks.

Re: [AI] judgements required.

2010-07-21 Thread gautam
Hello Sir,
Infact, hon'ble high court of delhi in the matter of NFB vs UOI judged that
reservation of the PWD should be calculated not only on the basis of total
vacancies but on the basis of 3% of total cader strength of an
establishment. But for time being we should forget the said judgment which
has been stayed by the supreme court. So as on now the current status of
scheme of job reservation of government of India is as follows:

In group C D 3% of total vacancies irrespective of identified and
unidentified jobs. And in case of group A B 3% only against identified
jobs. Copy of office memorandum of government of India dated 29.12.2005
containing consolidated instructions in regard with job reservation is
pasted below for your required reference.

No.336035/3/2004-Estt (Res)
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES PENSIONS
DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL TRAINING
***

New Delhi, Dated the 29th December, 2005

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Reservation for the Persons with Disabilities
-

With a view to consolidating the existing instructions, bringing them in
line with the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of
Rights Full Participation) Act, 1995 and clarifying certain issues
including procedural matters, the following instructions are issued with
regard to reservation for persons with disabilities (physically handicapped
persons) in posts and services under the Government of India. These
instructions shall supercede all previous instructions issued on the subject
so far.

2. QUANTUM OF RESERVATION

Three percent of the vacancies in case of direct recruitment to Group A, B,
C D posts shall be reserved for persons with disabilities of which one per
cent each shall be reserved for persons suffering from (i) blindness or low
vision, (ii) hearing impairment and (iii) locomotor disability or cerebral
palsy in the posts identified for each disability;

Three percent of the vacancies in case of promotion to Group D, and Group C
posts in which the element of direct recruitment, if any, does not exceed
75%, shall be reserved for persons with disabilities of which one per cent
each shall be reserved for persons suffering from (i) blindness or low
vision, (ii) hearing impairment and (iii) locomotor disability or cerebral
palsy in the posts identified for each disability.

3.EXEMPTION FROM RESERVATION: If any Department/Ministry considers it
necessary to exempt any establishment partly or fully from the provision of
reservation for persons with disabilities, it may make a reference to the
Ministry of Social Justice and Employment giving full justification for the
proposal. The grant of exemption shall be consider by an Inter-Departmental
Committee set up by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

4. IDENTIFICATION OF JOBS/POSTS: The Ministry of Social Justice and
Empowerment have identified the jobs/posts suitable to be held by persons
with disabilities and the physically requirement for all such jobs/posts
vide their notification no. 16-25/99.NI.I dated 3.5.2001. The jobs/posts
given in Annexure II of the said notification as amended from time to time
shall be used to give effect to 3 per cent reservation to the persons with
disabilities. It may, however, be noted that:

The nomenclature used for any job/post shall mean and include nomenclature
used for other comparable jobs/posts having identical functions.

The list of jobs/posts notified by the Ministry of Social Justice
Empowerment is not exhaustive. The concerned Ministries/Departments shall
have the discretion to identify jobs/posts in addition to the jobs/posts
already identified by the Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment. However,
no Ministry/Department/Establishment shall exclude any identified job/post
from the purview of reservation at its own discretion.

If a job/post identified for persons with disabilities is shifted from one
group or grade to another group or grade due to change in the pay-scale or
otherwise, the job/post shall remain identified.
5. RESERVATION IN POSTS IDENTIFIED FOR ONE OR TWO CATEGORIES: If a post
is identified suitable only for one category of disability, reservation in
that post shall be given to persons with that disability only. Reservation
of 3% shall not be reduced in such cases and total reservation in the post
will be given to persons suffering from the disability for which it has been
identified. Likewise in case the post is identified suitable for two
categories of disabilities, reservation shall be distributed between persons
with those categories of disabilities equally, as far as possible. It shall,
however, be ensured that reservation in different posts in the establishment
is distributed in such a way that the persons of three categories of
disabilities, as far as possible, get equal representation.

6.APPOINTMENT AGAINST UNRESERVED VACANCIES: In the posts which are

ABBYY fine reader 9 does the job well.

We may open pdf image and perform OCR and then save the result in any

Only thing is that fine reader is not a free software and so has to be

[AI] Nokia’s Multiscanner Application

2010-07-21 Thread Prashant Naik
Dear Friends,

Would like to share this useful info about multiscanner. In E71, E72 and E66
phones you will find this application as part of submenu in Office. It is
useful for us as we can scan text and cards(business cards) and then save it
as notes or text or email / sms it. it is not as good as KNFB but a free
application available with these high end phones. Accuracy may not be high
or sometimes disappointing but a handy thing on your phone.

[AI] As Facebook lures 500 millionth user - what next?

2010-07-21 Thread Gopalakrishnan
As Facebook lures 500 millionth user - what next?

San Francisco, July 20, 2010

DPA

It's as ubiquitous as aspirin, and if you believe its adherents, just as
important.

Just six years after its founding, social-networking site Facebook will lure
its 500 millionth user this week, cementing its status as the most popular site
in the history of the internet and - along with Google - probably the most
influential.

The company started as a programming pet project for Harvard undergraduate Mark
Zuckerberg, who modeled the site on the facebooks used by schools and
colleges to enable students to get to know their classmates.

His first project landed him in hot water with authorities at his Ivy League
university after he hacked into the college website to get pictures of
students. But they wisely dropped charges against Zuckerberg when it became
clear that the young man was on course to change the world.

Launched in February 2004, Facebook was initially limited to Harvard students.
Then it expanded to Stanford, Columbia and Yale, then to other Boston colleges
and gradually to colleges all over the US. The next step was to open it to all
high school students in September 2005 and a year later anyone age 13 and up
with a valid email address could register.

The site's explosion has been the ultimate exposition of viral growth.

It took more than three years to amass its first 100 million users and just 225
days to attract its second 100 million users. Facebook passed the 300 million
mark in another 160 days and achieved its fastest rate of growth when it
reached 400 million users in just another 143 days, when it was registering
almost 700,000 new members daily.

Now the rate seems to be slowing a little - as it took 170 days to add enough
users to reach the 500 million mark.

Like a teenager struggling to adapt to his changing body, Facebook has grappled
with its meteoric rise as the online vault of our relationships, surfing
habits, photographs, thoughts, experiences and every other facet of both our
virtual and real-world lives.

A big part of the challenge that we've had is that we've grown from tens of
thousands of users to hundreds of millions, Zuckerberg said at a news
conference he called in May following a storm of protest about the site's
privacy policy changes.

It's been a big shift along the way, and it hasn't always been smooth.

As people spend more and more time online, and spend more and more of their
online time on Facebook, Zuckerberg has become a poster boy for the young tech
billionaire set. But he claims not to care about mmoney and has consistently
refused to yield control of the site to the money men. He is reluctant to cash
in his stake with a multi-billion dollar initial public offering, which
according to some estimates would value the company at more than 20 billion
dollars.

Even Zuckerberg's recent privacy missteps were motivated not by a a rapacious
hunt for lucrative data, but rather to further his vision of radical
transparency, according to David Kirkpatrick, whose book

The Facebook Effect is one of the most perceptive examinations to date of the
site.

According to Kirkpatrick, Zuckerberg sees Facebook as a social movement
dedicated to the idea of radical transparency. He believes that by sharing our
data and our public lives we become better people, less able to manipulate,
connive and indulge in hypocrisy.

Some may see these ideals as noble, others as downright creepy. But most users
will ignore the ideological implications as long as the site remains useful -
or, more specifically, as long as their friends keep using the addictive site.

Facebook's hegemony faces other threats. Just as one can become sick of eating
too many cream cakes, there's also a growing sense of Facebook overload, when
the endless updates, pokes and suggestions from hundreds of friends all
become too much to bear, says internet analyst Carmi Levy.

Facebook is very clearly no longer a fad but its own landscape and a major
force on the global internet, Levy says.

The company declared it was making a profit on advertising last year and has
nowhere to go but up in terms of making money, Levy believes.

Levy predicts a drop in time that users spend on the site but has little idea
if any company will ever be strong enough to lure away Facebook's massive user
base.

Something may replace Facebook one day, he says. But if it does, it will be
something we've never heard of.

[AI] matterial for competetive exams

2010-07-21 Thread prateek aggarwal
Hello everyone,
Writing here after quite some days.
Hope all are well and fine.

As maximum of the listers must be knowing, I have a website at
www.prateekagarwal.webs.com

that has comprehensive material on different subjects, including the
stuff for visually impaired people as well as other general things of
interest.

Along with lots of articles, legal circulars, career information,
computer tips tricks and tutorials, ebooks, audio books and other nice
things, the website has a section named “material for competitive
exams”, where one can find stuff which can be used to prepare for
competitive exams like civil service exams, banking exams, teachers/B
ed exams, etc.

I have decided to frequently update the section (as per my schedule
allows me), and make available some material that can prove helpful
for the aspirants preparing for competitive exams.

Freshly, I have added the fully solved papers of allahabad bank’s
clerk and PO exams.

Please Read the description below:
---
Allahabad Bank Clerk Exam 2010, English language: solved paper
the solved paper of allahabad bank clerk exam Held on 14-3-2010(First Shift)
Allahabad Bank Probationary Officer Exam, General Awareness : Solved Paper
allahabad bank PO exam, General Awareness : Solved Paper, Held on 21-2-2010
---

those who want to download these papers as Microsoft word file should
point their browsers at
www.prateekagarwal.webs.com
and their look for “ material for competitive exams section”.

Please note that the said section will keep updating every so often.
keep checking the section every now and then in case you wish to have
more such material.
I will try to inform on the list as well about some important updates there.

I use Braille slate to put my signature. If you write each alphabate in a
separate cell, the signature does not vary and appears identical.

You can try this method.
