I tried the simple patch and it produces the same effect as my own. Which means

The problem doesn't go away with Flight 7... Anyway I can suggest to
simply keep it not alerting.. I've tried Fedora 5 and even if the ACPI
signals are present (something realted to 2.6.15 kernels I think), they
