I cannot help with your exact configuration because we are using TDP for
Informix. However it cannot be different.
XBSA lib is just and interface between Informix backup tools (i.e. onbar)
and the storage manager (TSM in our case).
Both backups and restores go the same way. And with onbar -r you

This was discussed on the list only once since I am subscribed but much
more in the past. You can dig into www.adsm.org archives and find it.
It might be interesting to read an answer Andrew Raibeck was posted more

Am I missing something?
I have Eventretention set to 90 days. I can use query event to see event
data from days past.
But if I use select * from events I only get events from today, no
historical data.
Shouldn't the Events table have previous days results in it?
Thanks... Ken

Hello everybody,
I thought maybe one of you could have experienced the following problems with

We are trying to make archives of our NT4 clients and although some come out

Hi,
While setting up a TSM environment, I came with a couple of questions
concerning Virtual Volumes.

You can also backup a Linux/390 partition filesystems.
According to IBM there are people buying zSeries only (or mainly) to run
Linux on them and they can benefit from TSM.

I can't think how you'd do it without a shell script. Try this (not tested!)
for proc in `dsmadmc -se=xxx -id=xxx -password=xxx -tab select '#!#!',
process_num from processes where process='Space Reclamation' | awk '/^#!#!/
{printf(%d\n, $2)}'`
do
dsmadmc -se=xxx -id=xxx -password=xxx -tab

Dear TSMers,
My customer has a Lotus Notes R4.6 Server on AIX. As you all know that TDP
for Notes has already been withdrawn and my customer still hasn't got a
plan to migrate to R5. Do anyone of you have experience in just using TSM
backup/archive client to backup R4.6 online?
Actually we have
We now use TDP with Notes 5, but when we backed up on Notes 4.5 a backup
would be performed while the Lotus Domino Server is not running as the
backup software will not be able to backup open files and files which are
in the process of being modified.
To avoid problems with access for the users
Hi Eric,
I assume, for performance reasons you wil not make one big filespace per
disk. But about your question: I think that there will always be an little
bit of space wich can't be used because. On AIX the Inode uses an littlebit
of space wich can't be used for TSM-files. I could not find any
Hi Paul,
And thanks for your script, if I don't find any other mean transmitting
this parameter to a TSM script I'll use it (or something similar). But
why on hell did TSM engineers not think to such a facility, that would
avoid having part of TSM tools inside the server and other parts in O.S.

Has anyone been using backup sets?. I have been looking into using
backup sets on a monthly bases instead of archives. I am using DLT 40/80
gig drives/tapes (10 of them). TSM 4.2.1.6 on Windows 2000, and 4.2.0
clients on about 98% of the machines.
From what I am reading I am able to perform this
I got the following message at the Windows backup, can somebody explain how
this can happen and how to solve this. Is this a windows problem or a TSM

Joe,
You can generate backupsets they really do not re-transmit any data from
the node. Data ought to be on the server and is taken from the primary

If you generate backupsets on regular basis they can give you features
similar to archives but not the same.
Yes, backupset can produces new

The tapes used for backup sets do not live in storage pools, they act more
like database backup tapes. They do not show up as volumes in q vol, but
will show up in a q libv when checked into the library.
The GUI and Web clients cannot restore individual files from backupsets,

Hi there,
Are there anyone has used the *SM BA backup client to backup and restore the
Notes R4.6 databases without shutdown the Notes process at AIX?
.
Actually, I have tried to perform the online backup on the Notes databases, and
it seem *SM can handle the open files in Notes.

Gerald,
Just a quick thing as your original question has already been answered. From
the look of you dsmsched.log you also have a problem with your network
between the client and the TSM server. Check the media speed and the duplex
settings on the client, TSM server and the network device

Backupsets aren't stored in pools so no to the question about pools!
Yes, this is a good idea but only if you have the time at the end of the
month to get it done. To generate the set TSM will read data from whatever
tapes the client data is stored on. If there are lots of tapes, this means
