Hi All,
I have this scenario on the TSM server:
-TSM Svr 5.2.3
-TSM Client 5.2.2
-TSM SAN 5.2.2
-Tape library 3584 LTO with 4 drives
I have another clientA with SAN attached. It can see
(lsdev -Cc) the 3rd and 4 th drive of the 3584. 1st
and 2nd is by another clientB.
For clientB, after
Ameerul,
You should make sure that the drives maps are exact. E.g. when drive rmt1
on clientA maps to rmt3 on tsmsrv you should make sure that whne you
define the tape path for clientA that you use the correct drive within TSM
(that is the DRIVE for rmt3), the physical device is however /dev/rmt1
I recomend you to use bigger size (by the sample 1000 MB) because the
performance is sometimes better. The other reason is that if in volume is
writen only 100 MB - then the file will be 100 MB The only problem is
only when volume is full and usage is only 10 % - than the file will be
1GB but
TSM 5.3 will support AIX 5.3.

going to be something wrong with your next pool in one way or another

TSM does not, we're not using symmetric multiprocessing just yet...

Hello all,
Does anyone know how the versioning between TSM and Aix is set up or if
there is a Compatibility Matrix available anywhere. I can't seem to
find anything on IBM's website. We are mainly concerned with TSM 5.1
through 5.2 and Aix 5.1 through 5.2 functioning together.
Thanks,

We will need AIX 5.3 to support LPAR capability of the box. We are an IBM
business partner and a TotalStorage Solution Center. This is for our
showcase, but also one of the LPAR's will replace the B80 server running

I think you need 5.3 for the fractional CPU LPAR. AIX 5.2 will run
on these machines, with 5.2's dynamic LPAR capability, using a whole
CPU granularity.

David,
You're right. As far as I know a p5 system will run on AIX 5.2 with the
(D)LPAR capabilities of AIX 5.2. Also the power5 CPU will behave as a
power4 CPU with AIX 5.2 (that's what IBM told us).

Hi listers,

My hunch is that something was changed on that server when the problem started.
Usually, if the client's going to give problems, it does it from the get-go. Were any
service packs installed, have you tryed installing any to fix the problem? Have you
done any maintennance on the drive lately
This may be normal. If you have 'managedservices webclient schedule' in
your client opt file then the scheduler stops and restarts according to
the b/a schedule.
I've seen these type of errors with mac files where the TSM client is
not happy with the extension type. Can't remember what the fix

According to an IBM rep that I met yesterday, AIX 5.3 will begin shipping

There are two places to make a change.
1. On the TSM server increase the number of allowable mount points for the
client. Use upd node for this.
2. On the TSM client, add the resource parameter to the option file. Set
it to how many sessions you want to start.
If this restore is coming off disk,
What patch level are you at on that server? Judging by the TSA errors

You could try rerunning the dsmc q tsa command, to re-register the
client with the TSA's. You could also try completely removing the
client, and

The simple cause could be that the tapes were not internally labeled,
which would be done via Label Libvolume or dsmlabel operation outside of TSM.

When a file is quarantined in Symantec AntiVirus, does that prevent TSM
from getting access to and backing up that file?
Thanks. John
That would depend on the security context that TSM is running in, I would
presume.
