We had the same problem with a Windows box when the client was upgraded
from 6.1 to 6.2. The help file from the previous version was left behind
and caused errors. Replaced it with the same version installed by the
newer client (but into a different sub-directory)

Anyone here started playing with this TDP? We can't get it to install.
Most folks here use a terminal window and the -i console option has
always worked in the past. With 6.3 it tried to kick in a GUI/Java
session and thus fails since it can't start an X-Windows session
Have you installed the lin_tape drivers and/or daemon?

FYI, FWIW, after increasing IDLETIMEOUT and COMMTIMEOUT to 12

When I remove nodes for good and someone wants a copy kept forever, I

Of course, even with a NODENAME statement and reworking the scheduler, the
filespace names are still based on the hostname. We have renamed plenty
of other servers that had nodename statements and the first backup was
brand-new.

Hmm - is the RECONCILE command I should run, regularly? I just ran
it on all 5.5 servers (they perform daily DBSNAPSHOT backups to an offsite
server) and all of them had errors to reconcile. The 6.x servers didn't
have any errors.

We are working to implement ILMT (IBM License Metric Tool) and have lots
of questions about things like the server data reporting/extracting, agent
configs, etc.
Anyone out here well versed in ILMT that can possible answer a few
(okit may be more than a few) questions? IBM?

I am hitting numerous issues that are supposedly addressed in the 6.1.5.0
maintenance release.

I wasn't aware that this was impossible. I've performed a 6.1 to 6.2 server
upgrade a few times now on an empty database

IBM recently released patch 6.2.3.1 client for Windows. Unfortunately,
the README doesn't say anything on what is fixed/addressed and the links
only go to 6.2.3 pages.
Does anyone have this info?

dismounted volumes (thus flushed out of TSM, long ago).

I had the same needs back a while ago and came up with the same answers you
have. Even with the advanced scheduling functionality, there is no way to only
run a schedule from one start time until another stop time.

IBMtapeutil (you did not say what platform - mine are Linux) has
functions to Load Tape and Unload Tape as well as Reset Drive

With Oracle TDP we are able to set the chunk/transaction size. By default it
tries to do a whole database as a single transaction. We broke up the problem
nodes into 2GB chunks.
