Hi Steve (and other who replied)!
The risk of fragmentation sounds reasonable. I will keep that in mind,

Hi there,
I have a question about which devclass to use for a storagepool
that is exclusively used as DIRMC destination.
The server originally was set up with a large enough DIRPOOL
of type DISK. Later, DIRPOOL was reduced in size, and a DIRFILE
stgpool was added that consists of FILE volumes.
Hi Jurjen!
No, that's not what I'm seeing. I have seen that TSM does not handle
allocation failures properly. I removed file volumes and directories after
creation and started a new backup. This backup runs into a rc 2 (File or

Hallo *SM'ers
AIX 5.2.0.0
TSM server 5.2.2.3
I have discovered a select command that will crash our server instantly
every time..
Could anyone confirm they get the same behaviour, or that it's just a

I originally tried this;

Additionally, our DB and LOG stats are as follows - I believe there is
plenty of DB space for the select to complete;

there was that much of a difference. They both use the TSA modules for

Hi Zoltan,
In theory, you are probably correct (at least for the most part...). But
we cannot simply assume that because it works on 6.5, it also works on 6.0
and thus claim support.
Regarding version 5.2.x: we release interim fixes (formerly known as
patches or fixtests) as necessary to fix
We use home grown scripts that spit the failed output to either email or pager
when it errors out and writes to the log.
