How are you doing the construction? Good plowing you can do 1-2 miles a day. Good drilling you can do 500’ a day or more. Good microtrenching you can do 2000’ a day. A good rate for plowing if I was paying would be $2.50/ foot or less. Drilling $13/foot or less. Microtrenching $10/foot or

Rock/cobble will run it way up. Depth is not a huge issue. Having to pothole 100 times in a 500’ bore job is a huge pain. No rocks in Illinois, right? You can do this with a crew of 2 but best if you have 2 guys for potholing out ahead of the drill, then at least two, one to run the drill

I second Brian's recommendations on QGIS and Manifold. If you want really powerful GIS functions, Manifold is the best system, hands down. I would never use Arc or MapInfo again after using manifold and I used to be a MapInfo trainer. Both QGIS and Manifold can link to external SQL DBs so you
