Yeah, hard external soles help. On a rohn25, I straddle a side bar and put a foot on each side. Y lanyard up top at different points, and I use a petzl grillion to lock me in place where I can just sit down in my harness seat. It's rather comfortable, but not as nice as sitting attop an SSV. On

Haven't had those. Last year I bought a pair of Carolina Logger Boots. Leather, composite toe, composite shank, oil resistant tread, 8", thinsulated, no raised heel, waterproof, shock resistant to some insane level. I bought them for climbing towers in the middle of winter when I was in Alaska.
