Re: [AFMUG] LTE Modems

2019-05-28 Thread liddy303
Just thought I'd follow up on this. Lots of back and forth with hologram
running diagnostics with no success. Finally ordered a new SIM card, and
the new one came online immediately.

Between plan changes trying to get the thing to work, and the new sim, I
racked up 20 bucks or so. Hologram was nice enough to refund the money.

Took them awhile to respond to my support requests, but once they did they
were very helpful.

Thanks for the replys!

Re: [AFMUG] LTE Modems

2019-04-24 Thread chuck
I have an ipad that has cellular data with AT I have a new surveying
machine that needs a modem card/sim whatever. There is a slot for it. Can I
buy the hardware, plug it in and have AT move the service from the ipad to
the trimble unit?

Re: [AFMUG] LTE Modems

2019-04-22 Thread liddy303
Hello,

Dredging up an old topic here I just got a Netgear LB1120 and a
Hologram SIM card. So far, I haven't been able to make this thing work.

TJ-- It looks as simple as activating the SIM card, installing it, and
setting the APN of "hologram" in the Netgear. Is that about it, or am I
missing something?

Thank you!

They are a global aggregation service that is designed for iot apps. My
plans are all 40 cents per month plus a per MB price. I got billed $3 one
month and they ended up refunding half of it. They have a bunch of built in
tools designed to help with the whole NAT tunnel issue.

If you just need occasional or out of band access I have found none better.
You can use their dashboard to turn sims on or off as often as you like
which stops the monthly. You pay $5 for each sim up front and use whatever
modem you like.

If your modem supports it, it will connect to almost any carrier in the
world.

They are both really cheap and really good. I have been using it for
months. I think my highest bill has been three dollars. I use it
intermittently.
