I do the same unless there is a larger load on 24vdc.

Most of the time we either do a 24v power supply and batteries plus a 24v
to 48v DC-DC converter, or a 48v power supply and batteries, with a 48v to
24v DC-DC converter (mainly depending on whether there's more stuff that
needs 24v or 48v), but sometimes we'll do completely separate 24v and 48v
We down-convert 48V to 24V when necessary (using Traco DC-DC converters),
but that is few and far between these days since old school UBNT and FSK is
mostly a thing of the past.

I've used Meanwell exclusively. 0 problems that I can recall over maybe 5

The NDR series appears to do self recovery too... the only difference I can
see in features between the two is DC OK relay contact on the SDR,
otherwise the SDR seems to just have a little better specs all around (peak
current, temperature range, etc.). I tend to use the SDR series for more
I went with Meanwell SDR for most stuff. I think the thing that sold me
was self recovery from fault conditions.
A lot of power supplies detect a fault and shut off, but then you have
to unplug and plug them back in to recover.
Anyone routinely using a reboot switch to "fix" problems might
I 2nd this; I’ve had an NDR die, but SDR units have been solid!

handles abuse a bit better... at least I've never had one die, and there

rather than Gatorade, you could have fixed it.

Gatorade leaked into it and a syncinjector first. Syncinjector was fine
