It's not dependent on the laptop being in good working condition, free of malware, good ethernet chipset, etc. But to play devil's advocate hereyou can get a pretty decent laptop for what that tool seems to cost. Seems to be about $1000 based on my initial Google shopping search. Maybe

Exfo has a new tester that works with ookla. We just got one to try this morning. This is a 1 Gig test. Spot on when you net out the TCP/IP and other overheads. Speedtest-2017.11.21-10.39.36.pdf Description: Adobe PDF document

What we have learned is that none of our speed plans deliver a payload throughput equal to what we advertise. So we are gonna have to bump them up a bit or put an asterisk on all of our advertising. From: Adam Moffett Sent: Tuesday, November 21, 2017 11:28 AM To: af@afmug.com Subject: Re:

I can't imagine one getting through but if you run it tied to something I would think really well. Keep in mind that the shield bars get closer together toward the center so anything getting through the center 12-18 inch radius would be really small. On Tue, Nov 21, 2017 at 2:21 PM Matt

That's my philosophy as well. 5% is sufficient I think. You can try to explain packet headers and other overhead, or just give them a little bump and avoid having to field the question. -- Original Message -- From: "Bruce Robertson" To: af@afmug.com Sent: 11/21/2017

Ah, too bad. Our amateur radio Wi-Fi group has been doing well, built out a few sites with donated Ubnt/MT gear, we are looking for a bit more - especially 5ghz radios - that can be gotten for just cost of shipping. On Mon, Nov 20, 2017 at 11:57 AM, Rory Conaway wrote: >

Thanks for the offer, but we need the gear to run in 2.3 / 5.9Ghz amateur radio bands easily (which is no problem on the 'unlocked' Ubnt/MT), and I heard that even with the "eng" hack, Canopy doesn't do those well or at all. On Tue, Nov 21, 2017 at 8:55 PM, Jay Weekley

Doing the same thing here using ARDEN.NET firmware. Nice thing is that with that firmware the radios can be moved to the amateur radio licensed spectrum away from unlicensed spectrum that the WISP’s use thus avoiding interference. Thank You, Brian Webster www.wirelessmapping.com
