What would be the problems in using a pipe to a tar command as the
destination? I was thinking that I could just set manually setup a
multitape span this way. Besides losing the tape labeling features, is
there anything else that should stop someone from doing this?
I have a VXA tape and a 2GB removable disk.
I was wondering if it was possible to have Amanda do full backups using
the VXA tapes and incrementals using the small disks with the new file
tapeio of 2.4.3b3. Would it be that I
just do two different runs - say a daily incremental cron for the disk
Just wondering if anyone out there can help with this one. What I have is an Exabyte
tape changer, model EXB-120 with Slackware 8.0 kernel 2.4.5 running it. The scsi bus
finds everything just fine. The version of mtx I am using is mtx-1.2.16rel. In
amanda.conf, the tpchanger variable is set to

Me! Me! I've got some DAT tapes that would like the new labels, and I
wouldn't mind "fixing" the EXB-8500.ps template so that it filled in by
"page" rather than column as well.

Some one here have been used this tape unit with Amanda using Linux as

I just need to know if this unit works, the config file I will make
after! :-)
Thanks!

Problem:
The DIN-A4 tape label template doesn't have the same information
as the Letter template. File# and the sizes are missing.
Solution:
I have adjusted a copy of the Letter template to fit on an A4,
meaning it also contains file#, orig size and compressed size.
I called the new template 'A4.

Tapes will be overwritten after 3 or 4 days, giving you redundant
backups of 1 or 2 days' worth of dumps (as well as the ability t

Hi! This message is telling you that the next time that you run amanda, you

Hi
I got this report this morning from amanda...
what exactly happened here?
planner: Last full dump of backup.eduline.be:hda1 on tape overwritten
in 1 run.
planner: Last full dump of backup.eduline.be:hda4 on tape overwritten
in 1 run.
planner: Last full dump of backup.eduline.be:hda3 on ta
We have been having a few problem with the holdingdisk getting full so last
night I cut my backups down to the 4 most important partitions. I also mad them
go straight to tape but when I do a amstatus I get the following:

Hi guys,
is it possible to use star with amanda?
I've read that star should be a version of tar, that:
1) is a lot faster
2) has all the advantages of dump and tar
3) has none of the disadvantages
This ofcourse sounds great to me, do anyone know if this is at all
correct? and if so, howcome n
Another thing I don't quite understand, is what's the best thing to do
when I get
*** A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [[writing file: No space left on device]].
Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk.
Run amflush to flush them to tape.
The next tape Amanda expects to use is: a new tape.
Well,
