If you plan on using amverify, you should make sure that the GNU tar
path is the same on all of your systems, or amverify will report errors
like this:

Alternate syntax for sudo:

This is exactly the type of situation sudo was made for. Give certain
people the ability to sudo su amanda -c amflush CONFIG.

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't work, but it did point me in a new

In the configure script, I changed a line from from:
GETCONF_LFS=XBS5_ILP32_OFFBIG
to
GETCONF_LFS=
Then ran './configure' which completed without errors. I do not know if
this will cause problems

You may also want to make sure that you have the latest version of
tapetype. I seem to recall seeing a message a few days ago about a new
and better version of tapetype that didn't make it into 2.4.3.

mt -f tapedev rewind
mt -f tapedev fsf 1
dd if=tapedev bs=32k count=1
Be sure to rewind the tape again after you do that.

I believe that it isn't a problem. It is just telling you that the
index directories for that disklist entry do not exist. Amanda should
create those directories the next time amdump is run (assuming you have

For what it's worth, I just used gcc and other GNU tools such as automake,
autoconf, etc. Amanda compiled and works fine using these tools. You can

Hello Katrina,
Have you looked at your chunksize setting in your holding disk config? I
believe that Linux has a 2GB limit on file sizes that may be causing your
problem. Try setting this to just below 2GB (like 1999 MB) and see if that
helps.
