during my migration from Linux to FreeBSD I lost Amanda's logs and
cannot use amrecover. In the attempt to re-do backup I wanted to
amrestore content from the tapes, but one set of tapes was dumped with
software compression enabled and

Do the dump are compressed on client or server?
Post the amrecover and amidxtaped debug files.
As a workaround, you can do the following in amrecover before the extract:
set property command-options -z

The fix is already committed.
If you have a similar problem, then make a new bug report with all

Is there a way to get Amanda to balance automatically the full dumps for a
given configuration?
Amanda do it by default.
I'm using version 3.1.3 and here's a 'amadmin config balance' output:

Hello Jean-Louis,
I've not done a 'force' in a long time... However, I've added some new DLE's
recently. So by default they've entered the cycle with a 'level 0'.
Maybe that's why the backups are not balanced... It still strange that Amanda

Good morning!
Does the include function, which works within the amanda.conf file to
allow external files to be included in the configuration, work within
the disklist file? This would allow easy
property.
* amstar: Add ACL property.
* amzfs-sendrecv: Implement restore.
* vfs-device (vtapes): LEOM property default to TRUE.
* fix amplot.
* amrecover take correct group when foring amandad with local auth.
* many others small fix.

I am getting ready to install amanda-3.2.3 and want to start using the

Question1: is device_property = device-property and part_size = part-size i.e. is _ and

How do you install amanda (and the man page)
From svn repository? source tarballs? a package? Which one?
