I'm following the tutorial on the SDK website for writing the hello
world program. I keep getting stuck though when upgrading to the xml
layout. For some reason it keeps giving me an error when I declare
the xml namespace on this line here...

website. I followed the instructions and copied the XML code into the

The emulator takes extremely long to load. If you have a phone, you would
notice that the second android image that you reference is the initial boot
up screen for the phone. Just wait longer. Depending on your machine

I've just started to have a look at developing in Android, but I
ashamed to say that I can't even get past the 'Hello World' example on
the site.
It doesn't seem like the application is running, nothing displays in

So I went into Borders and bought the book in the subject line. Just
my way of keeping open source alive by supporting others. The book is
great for a novice with none to limited experience in Java and
Android. I would recommend it to any novice or new user interested in
