This group is no longer moderated. It really should just be shut down at
this point. The spam has rendered what little of it was left useless.

Again, no one can help you with the zero amount of information you have

One crashlytics report for this issue is probably not reason enough for you
to devote excessive amount of time to a difficult to reproduce issue like

You're going outside the bounds of one of your strings. For example, trying

Use your debugger and / or logging to determine which string is going out

If you mean that it takes a long time for the system to start your Service,
and the system is starting Facebook first, then that's out of your control.

If you mean that the amount of time your Service takes to do its work is
longer than Facebook, then you have to profile and optimize your app.

Check setProgressViewEndTarget and setProgressViewOffset methods on the
swipe refresh layout. You might be able to hack the position of the
progress indicator so it's off screen and basically invisible.

Actually, to be more correct: they reflect the permissions defined in the
latest version deployed *that is compatible with the device being installed
on*.

So if v1.0 has 18 permission and supports API level 7 and above and then
v2.0 drops to 1 permission but only supports API level 14 and above, a user
with a device stuck on Gingerbread would see V1.0 with 18 permissions even
though there is a newer version deployed to the store.

Probably. You don't really need a receiver in this case. The point of a
receiver is to get notified of specific events happening either in you app
or throughout the system. If all you're interested in is doing some work
every 1 minute, then you don't need the receiver. The alarm manager's
intent that is fired when the alarm goes off can just be an intent to
launch an a(n) (Intent)Service that does that work.

When you parse you JSON save the items in a separate array and don't add to

On press of your button, remove the next item from the array cache and add

Looks like you're using C# which is going to limit the help you can get on

Generally speaking, you need to use whatever tool you're using to profile
your application and determine where the bottleneck(s) is/are. Then
optimize whatever is taking the longest, rinse, and repeat.

This is outside the scope of this list, which is for developers using
Google's official Android SDK. You should consult groups or forums

You can rest reasonably assured that any device with the Google Play store
will be running the latest version of play services. There are APIs to
check the existence of the current version and warn the user if they're
using an outdated version.

Having one activity manage two fragments on a phone (or small screen
device) adds complexity and responsibility to that Activity. Ideally each
Activity does exactly one thing represented by a screen - either showing a
master list or showing the details of item, in this case.

This also makes it easier to test and re-use. Suppose you want to jump into
an item detail from somewhere other than the master page (deeplinking for
example). If you have the one activity now it has to handle deeplink logic
then bypass the first screen to move to the detail fragment. Then what
happens when you go back? You shouldn't be going back to master (that's
"up"), so now you're jumping through hoops to get the desired behavior.
Keep them separate and life is ultimately easier.

This is standard, although unfortunate, behavior. "Open" from Google Play
is a different launch intent than from Home, so they create two distinct
activities.

If you don't want this behavior, you can set the singleTop or singleTask
launch flags for your main activity in the manifest.

Don't think you can. If it's that serious, you can unpublish the app and
start over with a new beta test but then you have to use a new package name
and be stuck with the old app in the console.

If you don't care about quality, you can just make an app that wraps your
web app in a web view.
https://developer.android.com/guide/webapps/index.html

If you do care about quality you would go full native which means using the
Android APIs which means using Java and connecting to your database via an
RESTful API.

It's a compromise between development time and user experience.

Your question is not entirely clear, but first thing is that MapView
handles its own scrolling, so putting it in another scrolling container is
mostly counter-productive.

I don't understand what you're actually trying to do, so I can't offer a

First, please clarify your intent. Are you trying to replace a fragment

I don't see anywhere where you reposted or rephrased your question for
clarity. I still don't understand if you have a specific problem or are
just generically attempting to generically start a generic discussion about
generic issues, generically.

Please re-read your own original post and realize you indicated you were

AS is not perfect by any means but your rant is pointless. If you haven't
killed yourself already and have something actually constructive to provide
to the AS team, you can do so here with clear, objective details about the
issues you're having, not useless subjective ranting about the tool:

Use an intent that the other app has published as an expected interface for

Find the documentation for the service you're using (in this case Google

If you have specific questions you should consult a group or forum

No problem. I gave you as much as I could given the lack of information.
Notice that you've still not clarified what "it is having problems" means.
If you could provide even the slightest bit of detail of what that actually
means (network errors? crashes? UI glitches? it became sentient and is
cursing at you?) I would be more than happy to attempt to help you resolve
your issue.

You can open the Project Structure dialog to configure some settings.
Right-click a module and select "Open Module Settings". What you can
configure here is limited though.

Then you'll have to recall your unlock pattern. The whole point of security
is to not allow access if you don't know the key. If you had a workaround
to unlock your device without an unlock pattern, that would be a massive
security hole.

Based on the wealth of detailed information you have provided about why

solution is to jump up and down for 30 seconds with your device between
your legs.

If that doesn't work, try posting some semblance of details about your

For a fact? You can't know that for a fact, as that would require testing
every physical device running 6.0 which is quite impossible.

This should be of little concern though as Android is designed to run older
apps in "compatibility" modes so they continue to work as they did even
when run on newer platforms.
