Hi,
first I have commented out all offending lines in the configure-script
(e.g. line 5160: 'AX_BOOST_BASE(1.41.0)')
Then I have installed all Boost libraries I could find in Debian. All
the same the configure-script fails:
error: unable to find Boost.Tread library, currently this is required.
I
You probably need to install all the Boost libraries, then rerun
autogen.sh.
Note: It's not working for me either.

$ chmod +x autogen.sh
or running it with sh ?

I have checked the two config-files and they are OK.
(/etc/default/locale and /etc/default/console-setup)
They both have UTF-8 enabled as in your example.
The test:
