Hi Jason and Victor and others,
One thing that I noticed about V8 is that I think the default for the
maximum stack of filters is still a very high 10,000. The trouble with
having such a high limit is that you can have your system just run out of
resources eg. stack space, before that limit is

I was correct in that Service Desk User licenses can normally be used for

Hi,
I have just added a new tool to the RRR|Commands section that can compare
complete systems and create delta def-files and diff-lists for you.
Sample command: rrrDefDiff.exe source.def target.def
The above command will produce a diff-list and and these set of def-files:

Hi there,
Another interesting fact is that the site entry is identical for all records,
so I'm importing say 100 CI's all for the same site and every other record is
skipped. I did look and see if there was any extra characters or magic spaces,
but nothing. Also with the dos2unix conversion
Does the converted file still import every other record? And I'm not entirely
sure I understand what you mean by 'every separated element'...can you provide
examples of pre conversion and post conversion?

You may want to check for extra characters and magic spaces (EC and MS).
If somebody selected two cells in Excel to fill down and if one of those
cells had EC/MS then it would have filled down every other cell differently.

Good afternoon everyone! Time marches on and we need to upgrade the Windows
2003 operating system that our 6.3 Remedy system runs on. We need to
upgrade to a minimum of 2008 Enterprise. R2 would be nice.
I haven't found anything yet in the archives that says anyone is running a

Hi,
I would suggest that you install a fresh 7.6.04 or 8 on Win 2008, and then
transfer your application and data using for example RRR|Chive and some
other tools you will find at our web site. For example RRR|DefFieldDiff
for your AR* forms and RRR|DefHideExpandBox.
Best Regards - Misi,
Looking at our ITSM 7.6.04 install the following are set and I am pretty
these are still the default:

I wonder how appropriate these settings are for a 32-bit AR Server though?
I am figuring a 64-bit system with 6gb and
I agree with Misi. You probably could upgrade using the path you mention
but a fresh install is a great time to do clean up. So many things are
laid down over the year and system get cluttered over time (especially
Windows and registry). I am willing to bet that 6.3 can run on 2008 but

Hi,
I have gone through various discussions on 'field' != 'DB.field' on the
forum here but still little confused.
Currently, we have a code 'field' != 'DB.field' and looks like it tracks
all changes to the field.
It is even tracking null value change as well.
For Example, I am updating Audit log
Try
'TR.field' != 'DB.field' AND 'TR.field' != $NULL$

Well the 1 is not appropriate for Victor. Whatever process he has

Hi Raj,
Your understanding of field != DB.field is correct. It should not be
capturing a change from NULL to NULL. You have something else going on here.
Maybe the way you are displaying the value isn't capturing the difference?
I have used this condition on all versions of ARS from 4.5 to 8 and

Can you turn on filter logging to see if there is any other workflow firing

Thanks Dale. Based on lot of discussions on this topic, I decided not to

Also, I was thinking to try something like below:

Thanks Rod.
Workflow is pretty straight forward, I have a tmp field and setting the
new value to this tmp field.
Firing this filter on modify with RUN IF as 'field' != 'DB.field', three
sets fields, 1st set fields - setting the new value to tmp field.
2nd set fields - entry in Audit log - Value
Dale, I think this would not capture if I am setting the field from a some
value to NULL value.
As, I still want this entry in the Audit Log - Value changed from A to
.(BLANK)
Just that, I want to avoid capturing NULL to NULL which is not relevant for
me.

Hi Raj,
Try this.
'Field!=DB.Field' and 'TR.Field!=$NULL$
See if it resolves ur issue.
Thanks
