The sync shouldn't have any affect on logging in. Even if the server isn't finished syncing yet the login process shouldn't care. If syncing was as hard on a system as a cache rebuild then I could see timeout issues occurring. You could probably tail the Mid Tier logs to see what is happening

I like that idea! I was going to recommend building a new 64-bit ITSM server with a new junk DB. Once the server is build you cut it over to the existing DB. With your method the installers won't need to do any of the DB work that done during a fresh install; just build the app server. Jason
