well, I have a windows/linux combo, and fsck was able to read the windows partition and fix it, making windows able to boot from it again. In some distros, fsck doesn't come with ntfs capabilities, but then there is the ntfs fix program.

well, I can't give you direct links, but I will give you a pointer you could follow. John the ripper has pluggins and patchers for zip password cracking, but you kinda need a good enough wordlist to be able to crack such a password.
