I totally agree with the good and bad music idea, I just like to use genres to find certain things that sound similar. I only discovered that I actually had my own distinct taste in music at 15, about 3 or so years ago, and it took almost another two years for that to mature beyond angsty teenage post-grunge rock, so I definitely still have a long way to go; combine that with the fact that not many people Im around regularly have their own refined tastes and I dont have many recommendations coming in unless I specifically look for them online, so I still havent explored a whole lot out of my comfort zone, mainly progressive rock/metal, a (very!) little older country, a bit of orchestral and psychedelic, and some jazz. The database isnt my primary organizational tool, and Id never dream of using it for books and audio dramas.

@momo absolutely not. Their is not a chance that every ship comes with a cloak. @san thats the point. Enemy npc ships can still target a small ship. Its when players are around. This system was put into place because of random killing and trolling which was unacceptable. While I realize that leaving it the way it was before could have added more to the game, some people want to play, not be trolled endlessly or shot at endlessly by players for no apparent reason. This system was voted in by the players, hents its not going out any time soon. Besides, I dont really see what the problem is. Theirs plenty of things for you to shoot at in deep space, derelicts, planets, other player ships that have weapons, so I dont see why this biznis with cargo haulers is such a big deal when cargo haulers amount to a very select few in the game.

We decided that an exclusive audio version of the game with no graphics was best in order to ensure that gamers with less graphical capability and higher sound capability will be able to run it with ease. Well Hmmm, I did send a reply to this thread yesterday but the cyber elves seem to have lost it. Firstly, I moved this topic because the game isnt out yet. new releases is supposed to be for literally newly released stuff, so when the game comes out, feel free to post in new releases. Secondly I confess initially I was concerned whether this game is fully accessible, ie, all information needed to play is given through the audio alone what with the talk of 3D graphics etc, but I think that question has been answered in the preceeding replies if there is to be an audio version, so that is awesome! Lastly, I have a question relating to Sljs earlier question about the breakerbox website, will there also be pages for airic the clerric and for kirtwolf where the games may be downloaded and purchiced? That would be good sinse weve had some questions about both titles and the links in the database dont work currently. Other than that
  Im looking forward to the game myself, and will be happy to do any extra dialogue for Steampunk neverland you wish to send me. Unfortunately I will be unavailable for recording purposes until September because Im going to the Aims music school for the next week and a half and shant be back at my flat until after that point, however Im at your disposal from then and I do appologise for the delay.

I can feel the vibrations of the drive and it is heating up alot. Is there any way I can detect the program sending read/rite requests to the drive and block it.

I recommend you just to start with AutoIt, Python, Pascal, Visual Basic or some other easy language and when the time is right, you will understand the diferences between them and will choose whatever is best for your needs. If you want to study AutoIt at first, autoitscript.com is your friend and a great community always helps you to go on if you stuck somewhere.

Hello all, I figured I would write some tips for doing Relics. Please note these tips may not work for everyone, but hopefully they will help some of you guys.First you need a relic hunter, I would say that is a must. They can be found at any starship store. Second when starting the journey to relic territory, Turn off any and all alerts not relating to relics. Then make sure your shields and LBF plates are active, this way if you are hit by an enemy, you will be ok. Next, if your pyrian, make sure you have your relic hunter beaconed, This way while its traveling you can beacon somewhere else, and do something else, while waiting for your relic hunter to reach 850 lightyears. Remember though from time to time beacon back to your relic hunter to check on damage etc. Once the ship has reached 850 lightyears, then stay on your ship and start doing the relics. Oh yeah one last thing, I highly reccomend you have a wormhole consol installed on your relic hunter, It will save
  your ship from getting blown sky high should you not make it off of the relic in time. Hope this will help those that like to do relics.

Unfortunately with access with things at the moment your basically always at the whim of the developers, and while some developers have responded really well, (Kodp, Adventure to fate, star traders, dark room etc), some have not, (monster kingdom, Silver sword, Haypy monster and now Battle nations). I see the talking dosbox with keynote and keysoft has been removed from sendspace. Wanted to try that one as well, though I like this one, except for 1 problem.In the manual it states that when you want to play a game made in gwbasic, then type gwbasic gamename.basbut when I do that, it says illegal command gwbasic. So Im not sure what to do any more, I tried running gwbasic in order to get the programs to work but no result there either, only get a Bad syntax error.

Unfortunately with access with things at the moment your basically always at the whim of the developers, and while some developers have responded really well, (Kodp, Adventure to fate, star traders, dark room etc), some have not, (monster kingdom, Silver sword, Haypy monster and now Battle nations). That is the way it has always been and likely always shal be unfortunately. Still if you dont try things you dont know. if by some chance you get a response in the future, let us know, (the topic can always be moved back again).

As to genres well I just dont find them helpful. This is also why genre annoys me sinse it goes with the hole demographic thinking so often practiced by marketing executives, Well this is such and such a genre and will appeal to teenagers, or singles, or old fogies or whatever.Then again I will admit musically Im quite a snob, but that is another discussion. BAsically I tend to find what I like not by genres but usually by recommendations instead, which is why my collection is so eclectic.And of course, the genres distinction breaks down utterly with books and audio dramas, I do always laugh wen I see J K Rowling listed as the a

hard drives have been designed to tolerate a good bit of heat. They are usually thought about last when it comes to building and cooling a computer. If you were to open your desktop up and take a look you would probably find your HDD in there will be hot to the touch. External drives are crammed into tiny enclosures with no thought to ventilation and they do just fine. I really wouldnt dwell over it too much. What you could do is look at the settings in your currently selected power plan and see if windows is set to switch off hard disks after a certain time. If its not, you can set a time in there like 10 minutes or something. Also, If your torrenting off that drive, it will never get the chance to spin down while your torrent client is open as you will be seeding whatever you have finished downloading and this will send continuous read requests to the drive, keeping it from idling

Nope Fabi, its just a few in game sounds which are played by the mud itself. As I said if you want them ask on the mud sinse Im fairly sure theyve not been removed perminantly its just that the mm site seems to have had a massive reshuffle, indeed if you find them let me know and Ill fix the db link.Alteraeon is fairly unique as far as soundpacks go. Ive heard of one for miriani, and that people are working on ones for promethius and clok, but Ive not seen the last two. In general as I said if you play muds other than alteraeon be prepared for playing with text, and maybe (as in mm), the odd single in game sound if your very lucky.

He stated someone has been able to play the game so itneeds nothing more The problem is once again playable vs accessible is not the same thing. yes, you can play the game and wander around and now most controls are labeled, however can you actually know where the hell you are? There are no rooms, or coordinates or any other thing, indeed you cant even calculate your movement based on x north, x east etc sinse you can turn in different directions. A basic coordinates system wouldve done it, but without that the game is a struggle at best, after all how many sighted people would play with the screen image showing where the player is completely covered up and spend their time wandering around banging into walls? Also, bare in mind the game is a very! large on, and when your spending over an hour just to get
  out of the tutorial area sinse you have no idea where you have been or where going that is just not reasonable.Treasure chests are also completely inaccessible sinse they involve an entirely graphical puzzle. Im sorry its worked out that way, I did have hopes for this one and its not as if requesting coordinates was so much to ask or would be so difficult to add (after all the coding must have some distinction of where you are on each move), but the developer seems to have made up his mind so that is pretty much that. Well as I said I find myself that things dont exactly marry up well. Oddly enough my own teenaged anxty phase if you want to call it that wwas much more based on if it doesnt have an orchestra I wont listen to it, with a possible exception made for game soundtracks.It was really not until I got to university and found people who had wider appreciation that I tended to change things around quite a lot. If you havent run across them before try bellowhead, if you really! want to see eclectic, anyone who can take traditional English stuff, (what over here is called folk though I know that can mean lots of things elsewhere in the world), and do them in really of beat ways, ever heard a disco sea shanty or a jaz version of of a civil war era puritanical anthem? I also am a fan of blackmores night, who are sort of similar though their basis is more medeival than folk. Metal wise, I tend to prefer metal with actual 
 complexity and if its going to be discordent discordent with a point rather than just instrument abuse for no reason, so less of the blatantly heavy stuff. Actually Im more a fan of epic or symphonic metal, particularly luca torelli. This is as I said why I dont do genres, and hay I dont especially mind if other people do, I just resent the way Itunes doesnt give me a choice at all and much prefer my own organization as opposed to being forced to use anyone elses, indeed when I bang music onto my victor i just stick in the folders according to type, so I have a folder called new doctor who with all of seasons 1-5 of the new tv series music right next to the soundtracks to King of dragon pass and Ludavico Ionaudi, who is a pianist I rather like, sinse that way I can just level 1 folder navigate around through each thing and go down into level 2 or lower folders if I wish.

@Wanderer, most of the ultra preachy stuff I have read has had a story. Though they arent christian motivated, Terry Goodkinds sword of truth all have a story and in places quite honestly a pretty good one, I just wish he didnt either stop the action for random right wing rants on occasion or also blatantly taler his characters to make a point in often a very flimsy way, like painting the evil empire as supposedly believing in some sort of left wing philosophy though one which was barely recognizable as such. Ursula Le guin is another, indeed as i said of her book the left hand of darkness recently, great story about an ambassador to a very! alien planet with an androginus people who have a decideedly alien culture that the ambassador completely missunderstands, however why Leguin either has to stop in the middle for a long and very sexist tyrade about men and women and some quite worrying freudian conclusions about war god knows.If fiction is fictio
 n it usually has a story, and like anyone who writes anything ever an author will naturally write their own experiences and thoughts into their story, eg, Jk Rowling has always said her idea of absolute happiness is a happy family, hence in Harry Potter everyone ends up married with children. However this is a very different matter to say having a huge, and usually badly written in the basic philosophical sense, arguement in favour of one point or another, or of skewing the action in some way to make the book a morality tale for an authors own perspective. After all its one thing for Rowling to have Harry and co happily married, itd be quite another if she had a long rant halfway through (either in narrative voice or from one character), about how Voldemort was unhappy because he was single and had never had children, or painted the deatheaters as all being single, childless people with no close ties to their parents as opposed to the Order made up of happily marri
 ed people. I actually am considering doing another article on this point for fantasybookreview.co.uk, sinse its an interesting one.

Perhaps you should not block attacking cargo ships, but give it consiquences.Maybe if you attack a cargo ship you get clasified as a pirate and players can kill that person and get a reward. Maybe you could, in the future even change pirate missions so you have to kill a real player instead of some ai controlled ship.As for pilots dont knowing where deep space is, Its clearly in the policies.

So I would be willing to put some money on the fact that a similar situation will come up again at some point.At whoever was saying that IP addresses can be changed anyway, that is not the point at all. Its inexcusable, and shameful to boot. If youre an admin for an online game, your players security should be of the utmost importance. Thats not to say that accidents cant happen, but this was a deliberate, malicious act. Whether the intent was to actually destroy someones livelihood, or whether it was just seen as a harmless bit of fun, makes no difference. It is not harmless, and it is not fun to distribute peoples personal information all over the internet. At least, it isnt fun for anyone with any common sense or morality.however, as I said, we all make terrible judgment calls during our adolescence. Thats the only reason Im not completely exploding in rage. However, this is a serious matter. The internet has made everyone seem like insignificant little blobs of matter floating in space, adding to the feeling of immortality, the blasé attitude of, oh, nothing bad will happen! So just remember that, whenever you launch an application that interacts with the internet, youre placing your life in the hands of billions. Similarly, if youre running the show, you have a responsibility to juggle all those lives. Its no laughing matter, not to say it cant be fun, but its time for the petty games and drama to end, now, or I believe this game is headed for a quick and fiery death.

You know, I really dont know. Maybe we should look it up. That scares me to play stw, and its a good thing I havent! Holy shshshshshshshshoot! I think that is a felany, but I dont know. If your ship was baught before I made a backup about a few days after I made the new speed system, you should be alright, I think I made it when the cargo hauler was intraduced. Not everyone got reset, just thoughs who baught a ship after that and that was do to a server acksadent.

Im going to have to step in here and say it as well. I realize that some people may not like what im about to say. But its got to be said. Ive been a beta tester of survive the wild for a while now, ever since sam first showed me it. Even if I did think the game was getting a bit too realistic, and major gaping defects that might make the game easier ignored, sam has always had a little bit of respect from me, and my support as a fello dev, major or miner, depending on what you consider me as, but thats besides the point. Ive seen menny problems, and I tried my best to grit my teath and bite it out. As most of you who are on stw know, I popt on their almost every day, if not for the roleplaying or playing aspect, but to meerly check on how progress was and see how everyone was doing. Thoughs who remember the first weak stw was opened will remember that I was an admin at launch. I did my best to try to help new players. The problem was, I w
 as the only admin with the acception of a few others who was actually online answering or trying to answer new players questions. What finily made me resign was I couldnt handle the stress. I however, tried my best to stay in the testing group and test the game to the best of my abilities, or what I could test. A series of too much realistic game mecanics, which I wont go into now because this point has already been talked about and you all know what my viewpoint on that is, cuppled with nothing being done, eventually forced me to resign from the testing group. Over the past few weaks ive continued to see an increase of game complaints not just by me but from other unhappy players. What finily caused me to lose all support in this project was the ip posting. I was on when it happened, and I was none too pleased about it. As for the hole seeming like its picking on sam day, this is my viewpoint. When that hole biznis with ethin and a few others happened with dmnb ba
 ck in aypral, you guys made it perfectly clear to me I had made a grave mistake, and made an apoligy about it. But theirs only so menny times you can make a mistake or several mistakes before you lose what you do have. If I were in sams shues, id expect the same responce that turdlepower had given here.

Im gonna be a dick here for a second, but someones gotta say it.This is not the first time there have been problems with this game. Thats what people are angry about.There was the major hacking incident soon after the game got started. Then, the asinine decision to force people into using their first and last names to be allowed to play. And never mind all the complaints about there being too much realism in the game.So its not as though a bunch of people said, hey, lets make this pick on Sam day! To me, at least, there is quite a bit of justification for this outcry.And, giving out someones IP address is never ok. So nothing bad happened this time, that doesnt make it acceptable. Saying sorry kind of doesnt cut it when youre dealing with breaches of privacy.

Mmm, Id agree that a lot of time violent caricatures can be more than a little bit cliche. I think Seven Bullets is more towards the Look at how impressively awesome I am end of the spectrum, but Im still of the opinion that you should give it a shot--in your own time, of course. You may just like the softly-softly approach, or worse, the terrible jokes. I guess youll have to see.

Like much else I tend to find how its done makes a huge difference. If the romantic encounters involves two characters who like each other contributing to a relationship that does something for both of them, or heck, just one character you like being attracted to someone else and showing how that works in a human way then definitely Im with you, indeed Hobb is full of both. If however its the And the burning passion of their tragic and captivating love sort of romance, then it just seems joyless to me, its so formula I get no sense of the characters or people or why I should really care. With violent badasses, I just find again there is far too much formula here. Confusing tragic past and being a bastard are two different things, ditto with confusing scary levels of compitancy in dangerous or criminal professions with Ooooh woe is me my life is so tragic Really is a bit too easily too diment
 ional. its a literary trope admitedly and one that can be used in different ways, but it is one that mildly irritates me because it basically says alternatively all bastards have a tragic past or all those who undergo traumer (especially men), are destined to be scuzballs or worse. When done badly, its also rather lazy writing. In the same way that a bad author can pretend! to be doing character development by having the guy and girl first just insult each other then instantly go into lovy dovy mode on the basis that its a love hate relationship going oooh look my douchebastard of a main character actually saw his family shot when he was a child is equally lazy sinse hay, the character is still a douchebastard! how does familial death change that fact? Again, both of these are plots that in the right hands can be handled amazingly well, (look at han and laea for a love hate relationship done right or Harry potter for a tragic p
 ast that matters), , but are far too often misused. Still getting back to points at hand Ill have a think about 7 bullets and consider giving it a go, assuming I can tare myself away from dragonhaven, which is not interactive but is awesome!

I see both sides of the story here. On one hand, pirates want to be pirates, shoot down ships, and in general just... well, be pirates. On the other hand, you have thoughs guys who just want to play. They dont want to be shot down just because theyve entered deep space. And lets face it, deep space is where the majority of the good stuff is. I remember this argument a month or so back about how difficult it was to make credits, now its about pirates verses normal players. If your going to be a pirate, do it right. At least picture if you were the pilot of that freighter and you were trying to make a few credits and points, only to lose them, and you got shot down. How do you think youd feel if you were on their end? Now, as ive stated before. Im not lifting the code limitation that prevents ships with no weapons being shot at. I specificly asked players before implementing it, including pirates who were on the game, and they all agreed on the sy
 stem, hents its staying as it is. If you didnt want the system, this random out of control killing of ships that were hanging in deep space should have never happened. Once again. ill restate that im not against pirates. I see your points, as well as the other side. This is why your allowed to attack gigantic ships. I do agree that players, once in control of thoughs capital ships with warhead launchers should take ultimit responcibility for their crafts, hents is why I did not add in a feature for players to opt in and out of pvp. If this killing ishue gets any worce however, then ill consider it. However, I have made this choice. Bakuan5 and sinak are getting moved to locations with in fed space, so that people can upgrade their ships with out worrying about becoming the pirates next meal.

Hi Danny,this new system sounds like it will solve most of the problems associated with random killing. Pirates can be pirates, but as you suggested, targets should be picked wisely. I wouldnt have much of a reason targeting a light freighter, since they dont go far and they dont store much cargo. The capital vessels could be left vulnerable, which is why I always orbit fed space when I go offline. I know theres going to be a pirate in deep space who will probably shoot me down, so I avoid it in the first place.I also would like to know what you mean by introducing Project Alpha creations into the game. Do you imply that we will fight the monsters we encountered on DM PA? If so, that gives me an idea. We could have a derelict salvaging mission that would involve salvaging debris. However, in some of the rooms, monsters would reside. So, in order to be able to salvage the artifacts, we would have to fight them off.I also heard that everyone
  got reset on STW chat. So, Im wondering if that also means my ships disappeared. I have to update the client and log on. Hopefully, everything should be fine now.

Yeah, I dont much like clawing romance or Adult diversions either, but I think theres a balance of humanity to be had in a good story so youre really empathising with the characters. Sometimes I think that means indulging a bit of the touchy-feely or obviously overly dramatic romantic encounters. Its good for the laugh and its usually very cute.Seven Bullets does indeed have lots of that kind of gory violent narration, but I was more talking about the whole badass mentality and Life is cruel and unfair and you should deal with it which I completely understand if some people find offensive, even though it makes sense from the POV of the writer. And like I said intent is everything, so when your PC is a violent badass with only the faintest stirrings of conscience that kind of attitude ought to be expected. But in fact, as violent badasses go, hes quite cheesy and compassionate.  For me the important consideration is that the author doesnt endorse any unethical or offensive behaviour directly, and compared to a lot of contemporary thrillers Seven Bullets is I think pretty tame and well-balanced, but there really isnt much room for personality or philosophical introspection.

Hello Bradp.Thats odd is vipmud working otherwise? Vipmud is so old it might not work with windows 8. I dont know what language vipmud was made in but since its gma Im assuming visual basic 6. Install jim kitchens winkit program then try vipmud again to see if your soundpacks work.Hth.

hi dannyI got a cool idea.While many problems were reported about random killing, and still problems in protection system like escape pard, Ive just got a cool idea.I have two ideas.1. Install an aditional autopilot module in to small ships autopilot console.It works like this.First, go to your autopilot console and press a cirtain button, I dont know your choice, so I dont know whats this name will be. Anyway... press a button, and it shows a sensor interface, you can select a target just like autopilot.You will select a random killers ship.If it entered, your sensors will be fully operational. If your sensors detected the random killers ship in your sensor range, the alert sounds will played, the flight destination will be canceled, search your waypoint list, then your ship will fly the nearest destination in your waypoint list automatically.Plasma cannons are short ranged weapo
 ns, and sensor range is very long. I think if it has implemented, It would be good for cargo ships.Another idea. I think it would be good if small ships can have a speed booster for escape.It is like the rift drive, but it is a upgraded version.First, set your destination in autopilot. And press a button. The ship will fly the destination with nearly unlimited speed, like 10. When the ship has arrived, the ship will stop.What do you think?I think idea 1 is very good.And if my idea has been implemented, I think cargo ship protection doesnt needed anymore.Anyway it is only my suggestions.Thanks

help with vip mud on 64 bit windows 8

as the subject says, I installed vip mud on a 64 bit OS, however, my soundpacks wont work. even after I install them using the original setups and stuff I have, they still dont work. they either play no sounds or it plays error sounds. What should I do to get sounds working?

With fate haven mata, you should be okay if you just basically dont be a scumbag I think . In the true ending you get you do have the full exploration of who everyone is. I definitely! would advise you sort out paypal and/or a credit card, not just for Choiceofgames and hosted games, but for games in general. It was paying for Sryth that first made me setup mine and I have not regretted sinse. I also believe there is a donate button so when it is setup you should be able to pay back for the games you cheated with, or maybe buy them on the website to cover what you have on your Iphone? Either way so long as you actually do do this and dont just use your lack of payment methods as an excuse. @Sebby, interestingly enough, generally awesome moments I find more! believable and rather more fun when not! playing a scuzbag
 , and when such moments are more to do with the character overcoming something than simply making themselves look awesome at the expensve of somebody else to satisfy their ego. Actually the former sort and the second person narration have always been something Ive loed in gamebooks, one reason Ive always found the lone wolf series such a great thing to read when in generally dysmal moments. Then again Lw very much has that 1980s hero mould namely someone who just is brave and noble and decent and gets on with the story rather than the modern everyone must be an anxtimachine! whether or not it actually contributes to their character. Then again these do occur in the cog titles, much as Ive cryticized hyuga I did rather enjoy jumping of the temple roof with masami, and what can be more a crowning moment of awesome (to use the correct literary term), than fighting the big evil villain with your diamond cutlass and space marine armour atop a ca
 ptive start, then punting her into it as a final defeat! So, Ill have a think about 7 bullets, especially if the setting is not quite the assassin one as I expected.
