hello,go here he had tested a code in different compilers and gave the asm code which was generated and compaired it togetheri dont say that compilers dont generate fast code, i say compilers generate crashable code sometimes (for example MSVC can generate a code that crashes the app while gcc not or vice versa) or a code that might act as an undefined behaiviour in a compiler or in another notthis is the case, compilers are incompatible in terms of abi and other asspects sometimes i'm not talking about optimization, also if you optimize, it can change your code somehow, but it doesnt remove the incompatibilitybtw i'm using MSVC 2015 as my compiler and GCC 7 (in windows msvc)

Nah. Who actually needs the system tray list anyway? You can just hit Windows b, which is not a screen reader specific shortcut, and scroll through the available icons. Also, at least you can pick and choose which features you want in NVDA to a point. Many of the add-ons, which add features which you say should only be available in JAWS, can be installed separately. For example, I want nothing to do with Research It. That is a stupid feature which should not be included in JAWS by default, not least because its various components break constantly. If the developers at NV Access shoved that feature into NVDA without consent from its user base, you bet your ass there would be a huge backlash, and rightfully so. But if somebody created an add-on which provided that functionality, some people would love it, some would hate it, and most would be indifferent. That's the nature of add-ons, and why they're great, because functionality that really should be optional, is left up to the user to decide whether it's necessary for their particular needs or not. OCR is a great example, actually, because while it's included by default now for those who are using Windows 10, there's also nothing stopping people from using the original OCR add-on. Try stripping the OCR components, which take up tons more space, I might add, from JAWS. Have fun with that.

I highly doubt I'll start using JAWS again.NVDA is free, not because it doesn't have all the things JAWS has, but because the people who made it were tired of screen reading software costing so much when a sighted person uses their computer for free.I've not used JAWS in a long time so could be wrong about this but as far as I know, NVDA and jaws almost have the same amount of features.

Ok, so it's not the only thing to take the Electron route, but...Skype just released an update (it's still rolling out) that replaces the perfectly (or at least, mostly optimally with a little tweaking) working native interface with one powered entirely by a single instance version of Chrome. Basically, the Skype client is now one big, weird webapp-looking thing. Windows users will love the breakage of screenreader scripts (if they use them) and all the familiar interface elements, Mac users will love the unresponsiveness and messy Voiceover navigation, and Linux users will love the blank window (Chrom{e,ium} isn't accessible, still). Everyone will enjoy the extra resource and battery usage. Meh. I didn't mean to make that quite as potentially negative as it sounded... I do get why this was done, and if the resource usage and accessibility bugs (these are not Skype's problem directly) weren't a problem, it'd be ok. I do like the idea of easy, cross-platform development...I'm going to post this before more is written that seems more ranty than it's meant. It'd be advisable if you haven't gotten the update to backup your Skype application data at least, so you have copies of your chats that you can export as text or HTML if you want to (remember, from five years ago, the first Skype chats with your partner/close friend(s)?)On the upside, your screenreader will automatically read notifications and some incoming messages...Have you gotten the update yet? What are your thoughts?

Niklas's comment about female characters gave me an idea.I was thinking that a cool diplomacy rule would be (allow women to enlist in the military).At first, as a result of changing this rule, you would get a immediate sizeable hit to popularity, not massive, just noticeable.Right away you would start getting more soldiers in the hiring pool, and more recruited per turn by nights, but only a very small amount at first.Over time, you would get more and more of both, up to a certain point, maybe like half again what you could before (150%), as most women still don't have the ability to serve satisfactorily in general infantry do to physical limitations so you wouldn't get many, but can do particularly well in some niche fields such as ranged combat, infiltration, scouting, and high altitude fighting: hence new units are formed over time as they find their place in the existing structure.Now I'm assuming you already get a popularity hit when you get a ton of soldiers killed without doing much damage to the enemy, and a popularity increase for rolling right over them, especially a powerful foe, as that would be kind of a no brainer.But when you make this change, you should get a noticeably bigger popularity decrease than normal, (no change to increases because people are judgemental assholes), at least at first.However, after a couple decades, the increased popularity loss from defeats should be gone completely as people get used to this new fact of life and come to accept it.Additionally, you may wish to make the over all military slightly more prone to losses for a time, probably at least a decade, do to mails trying to protect females in front line combat and getting killed because of it, which is a real thing by the way, one of the major (actual) issues with women in dangerous fields with a majority of men.This could also open up the door to a group similar to the knightly order, but made up of women, probably powerful magic users or maybe expert archers/assassins/spies, as females are historically seen in those roles throughout the mythology of many cultures, and the real world too for the last one.Same goes for female generals and spymasters.Also, it could bring in another element to relations with other kingdoms, with many seeing it as strange but not that bad, and a few seeing it as totally unacceptable.This is cool because it's a real trade off especially at first, and over time it becomes an advantage!

@38 part of the psychological thing with those places was that they were in control. parents was another of their mind games. if you did something wrong, we'll tell your parents and they'll yell at you too kind of thing.so going home and telling your parents, the teacher told me to do this or that was unthinkable because you had it hammered in to you that they wouldn't believe you and the staff would give their own version and be believed. that kind of mentality was used by staff there for much worse things too which I won't go in to but I was fortunate enough not to have ever been a victim of that.

with the global economy how it is, things are largely bad for everyone. I have several sighted, perfectly non-disabled friends who have been looking for jobs for a long time, and they have bachelor or even master's degrees or one or two who are doctorate's like me. And when you combine the underemployment and unemployment rates that are significantly higher for the blind, It makes sense you are having trouble finding a job. As someone said above, get a network going. Even better than a shitty job with sorting parts and crap like that, try volunteering, it looks great on an application for a job and they tend to be less particular. My vision was already going from bad to almost none when I started but having my ability to do calculus and teach high-schoolers any level of math they could need as a Saturday tutor got me connected and is the reason I'm in the position I'm in now. Furthermore, non-blind people who are looking to go up on the ladder will be doing the same thing, and there is a lot of "you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours" in getting a job, and even if there isn't, seeing a capable visually-impaired person is going to open some eyes and open some doors, maybe not for you, but as more and more blind folks get into mainstream jobs, it is going to be seen as even more normal and less of an obstacle, that isn't going to help you a lot right now, but you should be able to climb a bit. Make yourself seen in public, and put on your best look and on top of that, don't just be visible in public, do something that will make others take notice. Some of you are DJs I hear or play the keyboard, find places in public events you can do that. If there is a cookoff or something at a park or something like that and you're a decent cook, get some of that stuff out there. Show them "I can" and you're likely to get into places. It's going to be hard, and living on your money is fine and all, but almost everyone is capable of more than that, and I bet you are one of them.Also keep looking, almost nobody can find a job right now, sighted or not, in under 6 months with the way the economy is in the US, and I imagine it might be similar elsewhere, but you need to work harder, because you've got the economy and ablism to contend against while most people have just the economy.

I'll tell you I went to public school from kindergarden through graduate school and even to get my doctorate. I did not exactly have an assistant. I had a teacher who made me come in an hour early for school and we learned Braille and stuff like that and she was from the county. I also had a mobility instructor who gave me semi-weekly lessons in mobility and navigation and she was so good I could manage the busses in my town at 5 years old.  I had a person follow me around school as an assistant for about 6 minutes until my Mom called the school and got them to get rid of her. Only thing I didn't do is I actually got exempt from PE after elementary, but that is as much because I have weird shoulders that can dislocate on just a little pressure (I can't lift more than 20 pounds no matter how strong I get in terms of muscles) and have a tracheotomy.My parents also were very adamant I learn socialization and stuff and did a lot to teach me on their own part. So I never developed rocking and I always looked at people when I talked to them. Though I have, and still have an eye-pressing habit that I indulge when I know I'm alone if I'm not careful. I did everything the other kids did, I even took part in the potato gun marksmanship challenge in AP Chemistry (the teacher made four different potato guns, each running on one of the four gas laws and you got to fire once for every one you could properly remember and do calculations with. I wasn't the most accurate shot but I won anyhow because I was one of the few who knew all four laws.As for adaptive tech, I always had it, but I also learned on how to get grants and such to reduce the cost or even get it for almost nothing. Also, my state is one of the few that still has a separate department for the blind that isn't lumped in with other disabilities and even has an adult education center for the blind alone. but I've done a lot of self-advocacy, learning how to advocate for myself from my mother doing it first when I was younger and making it clear I had to do it.I never went to my state's school for the blind, but from my good mobility instructor's statements she gave to me on it, "It wasn't for the college-bound like you but it was good for kids who had bad home situations and could be a refuge for them," though she was highly critical of schools for the blind in general.As I never wound up learning to cook all that well and then my vision went from 20:400 to almost nothing very quickly, the mobility skills I used are no longer viable and I have to learn a lot of mobility skills over again now, using different techniques, so I'm having a stint in an adult education for the blind facility soon enough. I take it when my work isn't in the way instead of vacation so I can become more independent. Budget cuts mean in my state I go there or I won't get enough training and although my parents and family were big in teaching me a lot growing up, they had a lot of areas they didn't know how to teach me, so I spnd a little time each year with some who do.I'm far from helpless so I would prefer just working at my own home if I could on stuff like this, but that isn't a viable thing with the way funds for the state are, so that's what I have to do. So schools for the blind have a point to existing, but not so much anymore. I also began school in 1990 if you want a year to pin it down on.In college there is also a disability resource center, and in later stuff, I was able to get funding to help with  a research assistant at times and also thanks to modern tech, most modern philosophical journals are available as digital things I can use my screenreader on.so again, the places have their uses and I have to use one now for mobility and cooking (though I'm teaching myself a lot through trial and error at home in terms of cooking and cleaning.) but I think if you can, go public in terms of education. I have a lot more going on than probably several of you and I handled a rather crappy school, and went through college just fine. Though I think it might depend on schools too. I met a bunch of people in high school who went to the Texas one and they seemed great, extremely well-educated both in terms of academia and socialization and mobility.

@Post10 Bravely excepted the consequences of every action is an achievement you get for playing the game in hard mode, which you can access by pressing shift enter on the start game option. Basically you can't save your game, if you try it just saves and returns you to the menu. Once you reload, the save is deleted.

Niklas's comment about female characters gave me an idea.I was thinking that a cool diplomacy rule would be (allow women to enlist in the military).At first, as a result of changing this rule, you would get a immediate sizeable hit to popularity, not massive, just noticeable.Right away you would start getting more soldiers in the hiring pool, and more recruited per turn by nights, but only a very small amount at first.Over time, you would get more and more of both, up to a certain point, maybe like half again what you could before (150%), as most women still don't have the ability to serve satisfactorily in general infantry do to physical limitations so you wouldn't get many, but can do particularly well in some niche fields such as ranged combat, infiltration, and high altitude fighting: hence new units are formed over time as they find their place in the existing structure.Now I'm assuming you already get a popularity hit when you get a ton of soldiers killed without doing much damage to the enemy, and a popularity increase for rolling right over them, especially a powerful foe, as that would be kind of a no brainer.But when you make this change, you should get a noticeably bigger popularity decrease than normal, (no change to increases because people are judgemental assholes), at least at first.However, after a couple decades, the increased popularity loss from defeats should be gone completely as people get used to this new fact of life and come to accept it.Additionally, you may wish to make the over all military slightly more prone to losses for a time, probably at least a decade, do to mails trying to protect females in front line combat and getting killed because of it, which is a real thing by the way, one of the major (actual) issues with women in dangerous fields alongside a majority of men.This could also open up the door to a group similar to the knightly order, but made up of women, probably powerful magic users or maybe expert archers/assassins/spies, as females are historically seen in those roles throughout the mythology of many cultures, and the real world too for the last one.Same goes for female generals and spymasters.Also, it could bring in another element to relations with other kingdoms, with many seeing it as strange but not that bad, and a few seeing it as totally unacceptable.This is cool because it's a real trade off especially at first, and over time it becomes an advantage!

No worries. I totally get it as well... I've also had my fair share of experience working with teams for various projects. I'm also thrilled about the accessibility in UFC 3, but I think it's possible to do it without a mandatory text string, if other games are examples. MK actually doesn't use a controler combination, but an actual setting icon in the options menu. That's why I suggested a set of controller buttons, because that would requir no change to the menu UI.

That should only be the final option if there are no other avenues, imo. But at the end of the day, it will have to be whatever way is decided... but I do hope the message will be past on. I'm not wiling to compromise accessibility for a limited experience. Yes, I know things begin in small steps, but triggering a mode with the controller or a small toggle similar to what Mortal Kombat x and Injustice 2 have should not be something that has to require jumping through hopes, especially as there is already a precedent.

Hello, been playing this game for a while now but now actually on audiogames and want to a. put my 2 cents in and b. ask a couple of questions.a. I have been following the conversation and want to correct something said above. Someone said that the music was updated versions of old Nintendo and Sega songs. That is only partially true. The songs are from Nintendo and the like but they are lifted directly from games. I have gaming sibblings and such that still play around me and Nintendo likes to use the same melodies over and over again. For example the airship music is in fact lifted from one of the "New Super Mario Bros." titles directly as it was used again. The safe deposit box music is also taken directly from the Super Mario Advanced version of Super Mario 3 which had better sound quality and graphics. I could still see well enough to play and actually owned that one. That said, just nitpicking and pointing it out. I don't see anything wrong with it, they aren't making money off it and it is great atmosphere for what they are doing and also gives them more time to work on gameplay.2. A little unhappy about making the ant trap game harder, I suck at that one. I'm still not too good at knowing the difference between up and down/north-south from audio alone but I am working on it. Usually if I have to find something 3d from  a top-down game I kind of get close and then stagger around, hitting whatever button I need to hit if I have to hit a button.3. I love the game and love the cooperative battles, especially when you get a team of players together and they fight bots, because it gives you some really cool team-up possibilities and aso then everyone can win.4. This is my favorite audio game of all time, since I think entombed 2 went somewhere in the wind.I also want a little help.1. any tricks to finding stuff when you are really close to it. Again, having a little trouble north-south/up-down sometimes. I think I'd do much better if any of you have some tricks for when you get really close to something you need.2. any tricks to beat the golden eagle. I have some normal cards and also my base deck is fire-flying, I got some stronger flying cards from coming out well in an online match with a team of other players, but don't really have a lot of good viable normal stuff. And I hate the slapping witch.3. I'm on beta 51 now but am getting ready to get to the newest version. Previously I just copied the old Saveguarde file over the one that comes with the new version, but was wondering if there was anything else I needed to do as I have a lot more to lose than in previous times I had a save file.4. any tips with the race the turtle games or the escort the duck ones, I am pretty sure I have to get a good score to get something special in the valley with that last one, and sometimes I score really well when racing the turtle and sometimes I do terribly. I actually unlocked the forest version but now I get near -10--15 a lot again. I try to stay on the path but when I slow down to not overshoot it I fall behind, is it too bad to step one too far and then correct as you move? That's what I think I did the first time, but it mad ea point that I wasn't supposed to get off the path.also, a couple ideas I'd love to see in the game I haven't heard yet.1. dual-type stadiums. These stadiums would feature a common type combo, probably with a major common weakness, such as a steel/ice stadium. Also, future stadiums could have dual battles of some sort. For example, maybe th player gets twice the health of their opponents, but has to fight two of them or something. Or perhaps the player gets a randomly selected set of AI bots to serve as a partner. Also, to encourage continued working forward in the game, outside of online play of course, when new cards are added to types, they would show up at dual-type arenas and not the original single-type ones. This would all culminate in a new grand council-type area later on.2. along those lines, Pokémon has two-on-two battles as crazy party is also in group fights now and pokemon hs moves that pokemon can learn that either hit all opponents or everyone on the battlefield including allies, these battle-wide cards could be a new category of cards we could collect.3. Duelling. This would be a minigame thing that would happen on online play. The players are each given a chance to play a minigame that gets selected. However, score doesn't directly matter. 2 players from the people in the online group are selected and paired off. When they play the game, it doesn't matter what score they get directly, but who gets the higher score. For example, I get a 5 and you get a 6. You win and get the points, you would get no more or less if you got 20 and I still got a 5 or I got a 19 and you got a 20. It would be directly head-to-head but not all players who get paired off would play the same game, like pair one would play haunted

This is not going to be most likely the final way to get the mode switched on. Accesibility implementation is a process. Things usually start sort of small and maybe a little rough, and get better over time. Think of this as a way to "test" out some ideas. I do like the idea of a controller combo, but again, we are talking about having some folks test out some concepts quickly, without going in and revamping a lot of the UI and introducing things that may involve getting an OK from other teams and the like. I personally think that having a little rough way (in the form of a string in the name) is OK, as long as it gets folks the ability to try out some accessibility ideas and build over time.

Hey all, I've played Manamon a bit and gotten to the second stadium, but I can't figure out how to have more than 6 manamon. I read about a way to store other manamon who you can trade in and out to your main party, but haven't been able to figure out how to do it. I'm running the trial version of the game, is this a feature only present in the full version?

not at my school there wasn't. see my previous posts. I didn't get involved in the first part of that i wrote about, 2 other lads did though. as for the second, i do regret taking orders because the person in question did have problems i didn't know about. we didn't actually do anything to him though. when we turned up he lost it and lashed out. i got punched in the face and grabbed his arm. one of the others grabbed the other and we marched him to the room he should have been in.I'm not trying to justify that though, just pointing out the kind of things that went on and that were not only allowed by teachers, but actually ordered.that same poor kid was expelled not long after for smoking and sent to a school for children with extreme behavioural problems. this was the kind of thing we were threated with too. toe the line or you'll go somewhere like he went.at a guess the teachers did things like that because they knew they'd be in a lot of trouble if they used force against a pupil. so they'd just order some of the other boys to do it. only come back then is the students get in to trouble and they can deny they had any part in it.

Hi folks.This UFC accessibility mode thing came out of a personal discussion I was having with one of the UFC development team, long before I knew anything about what Karen and her team were doing over on the Madden side.I have been messing about a lot with UFC 2, and decided to go out on a limb and contact one of the developers on Twitter, and see what kind of response I would get. The dev was extremely interested in learning more, so we began discussing a lot about accessibility and how there are lots of blind gamers out there.By the way, in case folks missed it, I'll post a link to my audio guide to UFC 2 (still a work in progress).For hints on how to play UFC 2 as a blind player, see my six part audio guide and comments in this forum post http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=23199I will try to give you a run-down of some of the things that will be in this beta, and why we chose what we did (or why the dev chose what he did to put into the beta). At the time, the dev didn't know if he could go all the way with accessibility support (IE, using more sound queues and the like). So, he asked if he it would be helpful if he put rumbles (controller vibrations) for certain fight events. Since I have a real familiarity with UFC 2, I gave him some ideas.  First, there will indeed be rumbles for a strike coming, I believe there will be different rumbles for high or low blocking. Also, there will be rumbles for when a take down is coming. Currently in UFC 2, there is really no good way to tell when a take down is coming and defending the take down isreally really hit and miss. As Karen said, turning it on is a bit (well strange sounding at first). Let me explain. The dev figured initially that the quickest way to get accessibility changes into this beta build would be to have the mode toggled on by a string in the fighter's name. That way, he could put some changes in without messing about with the UI, which would involve lots of other folks getting involved. So in other words, one could create a fighter and use a certain string to trigger the mode. I suggested the string of a11y, since that is being widely used to describe accessibility. Unfortunately, he discovered that numbers are not allowed!  So, we settled on the rather silly sounding aiiy. Get it? a I I y. The i's look like print 1's! Yeah, I know a stretch, and hopefully Karen can get them to just include it as an option, but heck, we have to start somewhere, right? Jeremy Hartley

I haven't used JAWS in quite awhile, so by keyboard locking, do you mean that you can lock the keyboard so that it will accept no input? If so, there's an NVDA add-on for that. It's a damn useful thing to have if, like me, you live with any small children who get curious about your computer, lol.And at 20, mind elaborating on that? Blanket statements such as yours with no explanation irritate me, to be honest. So if you have a case against NVDA, let's hear it.

Hi. Nice to see another fan of Storium. I actually reached out to the developers back when the game was first being kickstarted, and it is such a great game with a wonderful staff and playerbase. I am the slowest writer of all time, sadly, so its very hard to find more casual games to play in, but I would love to play more. Its one of the few games I've found to be as accessible regardless of what browser I am using, on mobile or desktop. If anybody wants to start a more lower stakes game that still focuses on quality writing and character, please do let me know! It is such a great system for writing and games.

@BlindJedi, uh... have you read the other posts in this topic? JAWS lags just as bad as NVDA does in other areas. And the only thing JAWS has that NVDA doesn't are table view and smart controls. And keyboard locking, a quite unnecessary feature, IMO.

[[wow]], shotgunshell. Is that Real? Seems pretty unbelievable that staff would do things like that.The school in my area has had many lawsudes against it. Apparently in the 50s staff would throw braillers at students, and in the 70s someone had burn marks on their back or something. I'm not sure what's true and what isn't, though.

I honestly wasn't expecting this thing to be as well received as it has been. I am seriously glad you guys enjoy this quote wonderfully pointless but addicting quote game.So this game, as the manual says, originally started out as more or less a shared concept thing that was closed off. You couldn't add objects, and in fact, the sounds were encrypted. Slender kept wanting me to make more objects and I was not very unwilling to do this. This was mostly because the objects were hardcoded into the game earlier on into development.And now a few months later we have this pointless monstrosity. It's been fun watching you guys take to it, and I really hope you guys continue to add to the repo and things.I'm still working on the final update, finally resolved the bug I talked about earlier, and will hopefully have it posted sometime next week.Bye for now!

Well fixed the donator items, and the business with the package, hurrah!Okay I'll try and give some help. first when you have got your ship enter it and go to the control room then type power just like with a vehicle. You can also type recharge to recharge your battery at a landing pad. Your ship will either  be at a  landing pad or a garage, if it's in a garage type transport to get it moved to the landing pad and visa versa.You can type launch to take off, but there is something to do first. Planets have atmosphere, and if you try landing or launching into a planet's atmosphere with no shields you can say bye bye to your ship. So you need to find out the atmosphere class of the planet so you know what to set your heat shields to. If your taking off from a planet you can get this information by typing atmosphere, and if  your landing on one you can type scan and then select  planet or space station scan. Your heat shields need to be 100 times whatever the atmosphere of the planet is, so if the atmosphere is 4 (I believe Earth is 4), you need them at 400. To set them you can type heat-shield boost, or just hsb and then the number, eg hsb 400. Once your  heat shields are set you can type launch. You will then launch and be in the planet's orbit, you can do a couple of things hear (particularly orbit cleaning), but probably you want to just type orbit to get out of orbit so you can go somewhere else.The easiest way of getting to another planet or station is by typing plan and then it's name, eg plan mars to rift jump there directly, then just wait until you get there. once you arrive type orbit to get into the planet's orbit, then do the scan, set your heat shields and type land. Docking and undocking with space stations is basically the same, accept you don't need to worry about heat shields  just type dock from space or undock. hth.I'd very much recommend looking at the shelp getting started help file since it's intended for newcomers to flying ships, also there is the starship exam where you will need to fly around and talk to npcs who give you pointers and information (you'll have to pass this to fly better ships anyway).

I'm actually surprised that the free upgrade offer ended at all. I don't think it's because Microsoft has polished existing accessibility, although it is true that it's improved by leaps and bounds, and is only set to get better. I think it's because they knew that many people were taking advantage of the offer, people who used no assistive tech at all, and now that they've gotten as many people to switch to Windows 10 as is probably going to happen in the foreseeable future, they're taking the offer away. Or maybe it caused them to lose more revenue than expected. Either way, I always did say that the free upgrade offer was a marketing ploy, and it appears that was the truth.

I would create a function for when a key is pressed, and when a key is released. You might want to track which keys are down, but how would depend on how many you'd want to track and why. There would be one or more variables to track the program's current state—what screen or sub-command you're on, etc. The event handler functions would either take care of the response directly via if-else chains, or delegate to other functions as needed.So, for you're example, say we have 3 variables: screen/mode (ex, EDITING), what command, menu, etc is active on top of that (ex, REVERB), and subcommand, which would be an integer for which step in the process of the main command you're on. This could get more complex with more complex action-trees, but the basic idea still applies.So, for instance:def key_pressed (k):    if flags[k] : return # don't rapid-press a held key.    flags[k]=True    if screen==EDITING :        if command == REVERB : reverb_keys (k)        elif command == WAITING : command_check(k)        # etc    # (other screens go here)def command_check (k) :    if k=="s" command=REVERB    # etcdef reverb_keys (k) :    if subcommand==0 and k==KEY_R : set_reverb_1("r")    elif subcommand==2 and k==KEY_A : reverb_2(a)    # etc, etcIf you'd rather catch things on key release, put the corresponding parts in key_released insteadAlso, if you're using flags like the above, be sure to update them on key release as well.In summary: when you're using an event-based system like pygame, your program is probably better off being structured in terms of states and events rather than loops within loops. Pygame is a bit weird in that it allows you to mix both approaches, but as you've demonstrated, they don't mix well.

Why do you think? The key for map creation, at least for this editor, is to be quick and efficient. Having menus means finding the same item over and over again, and I don't want to have to use menu boiler plate code just to bind keyboard shortcuts to menus.

really? I never actually tried it that way, what I always ended up doing was using the really fast water launcher to clear out robots if they were in the way, grenades for bombs if they spawned in the way, and just left everything alone if they spawned far enough back.

One suggestion: It would be cool to have different modes you can play the game in. One could be kind of a story mode, were you have to play through the game, with exploring and such and after the end game, the story ends. Another could be open ended such as the game is at the moment. Another possibility could be to play out an entire live cycle of a king and a last example could be that you play a complete generation of kings. This would make the gameplay even more flexible and so anyone can choose wich mode he or she wants to play. That would be great. And you know what's great as well? That the game is portable and don't needs an installation and at the same time, it is the game with actually the most amount of content I ever saw in a game. Cool man.

@keyIsFull, the prompt issue is fixable... though it can be very difficult to do. I don't know how well this will work, but you can try the below solution. If your up to it, and you know a bit of C, do the following:Open interpreter.c -- this is where connection states and main input is handled. Scroll down to line 1680, where it says             sprintf(buf, "Give me a password for %s: ", GET_PC_NAME(d->character));.Before the first character in the string (in 'give'), add '\r\n' to that string. You may also wish to do this at the end, too.Determine the exact text of any other prompts that do this in mushclient, perform a grep (i.e. grep "give me a password" -inr *) in the src directory for the file their located in, and do the same for them.Recompile the game and hotreboot, copyover or reboot.For changing the map size:Open structs.h.Go to line 93 and change those preprocessor definitions' values' to whatever you like. Be careful, though -- the higher they are, the larger your map will be in RAM!Optionally, open util/map.c, go to line 113, and change those definitions there.Recompile and regenerate your map.HTH

@visualstudio, if your talking about the old compilers from like a decade ago, yeah, probably. But most of those "junk instructions," as you put it, are assembler directives or debugging information. Optimization removes most o those. Those "junk instructions" are usually also because optimization was disabled entirely and it was an error on a higher-level language.

I just decided to look up whether registry cleaners are a wise thing or not, though I already am reluctant to use them based on having screwed my system up a couple of times by just deleting everything they flag up. It dismisses them as nothing but a con, but then goes on to provide a link to another of their own articles that explains what really causes computers to slow down over time, in which it recommends c cleaner and states that one of the reasons for a slow computer is that registries can get cluttered with entries left behind by uninstalled programs, heheh.

Hmmm, I have used C cleaner with both supernova and Jaws, both of which it was fine with which is why I assume  interface is fairly standard.As I said previously I wonder if it is something in the way your Jaws is set since I'm fairly sure Jaws should! work with C cleaner, heck it's mentioned on whitestick.co.uk on the list of useful accessible programs to download, perhaps someone with more knowledge of Jaws could clarify?As to browsers, I was put off firefox by the bookmarks interface and the complexity in backups, not to mention system slowdown and the hole thing being something of a hog. I do want to try chrome as a backup for Ie at some point though, just to have an alternative when something is wonky with ie.

How do you like them apples? Today I got a new set of definitions for MSE and now it thinks TTF has the Win32 Trojan.For whatever it's worth, I submitted it to Microsoft as a false positive with a note that WD and MSE both frequently falsely flag games written in BGT as having malware. Hopefully they'll fix the problem permanently.

Maybe it's friendly to NVDA but not very friendly to JAWS. I'm not switching screen readers just so I can run one program that I've already pretty much replaced with alternatives.Either Piriform makes CCleaner accessible to everyone, or I'll just keep passing it by. And so far, like Valve and Steam, they just don't seem all that interested.Oh, and problems with Firefox 57 isn't restricted to JAWS, the changes that are coming will affect all screen readers. The podcast I heard this on said that until the screen reader developers can get a handle on the changes to Firefox, they were recommending Chrome.Since I use Internet Explorer, the problem doesn't affect me, but since I use JAWS, I wanted to see what was being said.

Not too sure that I will play this one seeing that it does not seem my type. Anyway, I looked up where it was on get hub and saw that you can have a different size world from the default if you wish. So, my question is how big is the world? Is it bigger than other muds of this type, and how does the branches of this mud relate and are different from each other? Just wondering? On the other hand, the installation looks easy enough if you are used to Linux. I wonder what it would take to set a version up on my windows seven machine just so I can play around with it before enter that online mud itself. I just want to make sure I understand things before I enter a possible PVP world.

Hi guys, so it's been a week or so since the last update and I just want to keep you guys updated, I've planned out the next 30 or so updates to follow themes, so each instead of being a random mash of whatever I did during the time I was coding, it will now be focused and aimed more specifically, such as the last update which was purely focused on expanding the south.This next update will be made up of a few minor updates, the main flagship part of the update is Baiaa, the lost city of vampires, then there is a further nomad update and finally a special update purely of niklas' bugfixes, and then of course a general pile of unrelated changes/fixes and features.Some other things to come:* Every 3 or so years the nomads gather on the big red canyon to do rock jumping duels to deal with disputes among their men! * Also Dynamic torturing* Nasty Vampires* Spooky Places* Little gnome families* And mysterious libraries

I've found their email address but I'm not sure what to say supp...@itch.ioI'd be interested to know if the issues solves itself but I think you may be right about it either being due to the uk or no address, but I don't see an address option on itch.io, very strange.As for the differences in free and paid, it's quite difficult to say cause there have been so many updates, there's been huge expansions of exploration areas and diplomacy, most of the game has developed further in one way or another
