Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

Ok, so the topic on the small businesses and people losing their jobs with covid-19. That isn't a legit protest at all. None of those people actually had most of their damages and livelyhoods taken away because of covid-19. The heart of the problem is lack of a comprehensive safety net for  situations like these. If you lose your job, or business because of a pandemic,  you should be  given state aid, and financial assistance to  weather the storm until the pandemic is over, not like a joke of  1200 dollars Trump thought only appropriate some receive after weeks of waiting. With the Floid protests,  I find it really ironic  republicans  are really quick to focus on the looting, while  sweeping all the racist acts, and the impossibility of  achieving change  by these people by normal means. Seriously what did you expect to happen when  this man was murdered in broad daylight, on video? That is a show of impunity, and is basicly saying, I am immune, will never be prosicuted  for this, no matter what you do. It is natural that a response would occur to such an act.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

Look up Christian Cooper. He wasn't killed, and the police actually sided with him, but he had the cops called on him because he dared to tell a white woman in Central Park that her dog needed to be leashed. That's racism, just not cop-started racism.I trust I don't have to talk to you about George Floyd. You should really do some research about what racism is, and how a lot of times, people who engage in it get away with it. Not all the time, not by any stretch, but it does happen.Tell me something. Let's say you were walking down the street, minding your beeswax, and an officer told you to stop, asked you who you were and what you were doing, was rude with you when you asked what the matter was. Would this make you feel kind of annoyed, maybe even a little shitty or guilty because you're taught that the police only investigate when there's something wrong? I guarantee you that people of colour in Canada and perhaps more so in the United States deal with this worry every. single. day. I've heard literally dozens of them of my acquaintance say that it's not a matter of -IF they will be stopped by a cop, but -WHEN.I'm white. You know how many times I've been stopped by a cop? not. Fucking. Once. Gee, I wonder why that is.

I could be wrong and taking this wayy out of context though. On an unrelated note, something's wrong with the Requiem Hourglass. I put it on my Terrubble (will probably put a Chain Shield whenever I can find one), but when it leveled up, it LOST health. Not sure why this happens, but it says the health is lost in the total health that it has. However, when I unequip and re-equip the hourglass, it resets everything. Is there a reason for that?I'm honestly surprised I beat the desErt dragon, but I didn't realize the gimmick until afterwords. I wasn't attacking ow dragon itself, but I was just buffing.

2020-06-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : camlorn via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Just wanted to provide an update on Max-Lib

It is possible to write a third party screen reader for Mac.  No one has done it because no one cares enough, but as far as I know nothing has changed since I last looked into what it would take and it can be done.  It isn't possible to write a third party screen reader for iOS for the same reason that it isn't possible to do lots of things on iOS, and no part of that is specific to blind people.  I'd be willing to bet someone at Apple would love to give us third party screen readers, but that's root-level access to the phone, and at the end of the day that's the end of it, not some sort of leveraging blind people for market control conspiracy.also I will just say what no one else is saying: your project is technically infeasible.  It'll never be finished, and when anyone asks "should I use Max or write it myself" they're just going to write it themselves, because writing it themselves by calling TTS is pretty easy but using some baroque thing that tries to somehow be game agnostic is hard and costs money by taking expensive programmer-hours.  You can't make this agnostic.  The UI is almost always tied tightly to the gameplay.  You can't convince any of the people you want to somehow prevent from doing whatever it is you think they're going to do instead that they need to try to use whatever it is you think you can build, which frankly is incredibly unclear at this point anyway.  All that's here is aspirational statements.  "It's JSON for accessibility" is only a good way to put things if you're a unicorn startup revolutionizing quantum uber ride-scheduling technology or something. Also have you looked into engine plug-ins?  Because that's not going to be nearly so easy as you think it is either.  I would go so far as to say it's impossible in at least some cases, possibly almost all.Nolan's Godot stuff at least has an end state to it, in that there's a concrete set of deliverables and a tight enough scope, and once he's past a certain point it has immediate value to everyone who cares.  It's a herculean effort and I don't expect to see anything major out of it soon if ever, but it's doable.  He found a difficult but reasonable place to attack the problem at with a community that's likely to be receptive and a tech stack where he has the levels of access necessary at all levels without relying on the goodwill of others.  The first step of software engineering for a multi-year project is to recognize that it's going to be a multi-year project, but the second step is to scope it, which you don't seem to have done.  If you get halfway through your long-running project and basically start over, that's not a good sign that you understand the problem and more than anything should be telling you that you maybe should step back until you do.But fine, let's say that it's technically feasible and everything is amazing and you've got a release tomorrow.  This doesn't give us any sort of control over anything.  If you're right about how big tech is going to try to take over game accessibility through whatever narrative you've arrived at, you've done nothing to stop it.  They'll just disregard you and do it anyway.  Not that that matters, because frankly your narrative comes off as very paranoid, not thought through at all, and I could poke a lot more holes in it.  If game company a patents accessibility technology a, game company b will just not use it and game company b will lose basically 0 users compared to the actual userbase; and laws around gaming accessibility are very far off, impractically difficult to write, and will probably never happen in any widespread fashion if they can at all.  There's not going to be some accessibility patent war because game accessibility patents aren't worth money, and you can only hold a patent over someone if it's going to cost them a lot of money to not license it from you.  Screen readers were able to have some of this because screen reader patents have value due to things like 508 and the ADA, but none of this exists in games land. So, genuinely, what is the value?  Why wasn't it better to have just made audiogame unity or something?  You're not actually telling anyone what your project is despite this being a long-standing project and it doesn't (and can't) accomplish the social goals you want it to accomplish either.  Like with the GTA stuff, the primary goal of proving that sighted games could be made accessible in some cases has already been proven by Audioquake, Sequence Storm, probably others.I used to think there were 2 kinds of audiogame programmer: the people who are learning, and the people who went off and got a job in programming and don't have the time anymore.  But over the last few months it appears there is now a third archetype: the programmer who thinks that somehow what we need is to make all of sighted gaming accessible, rather than solving the much easier problem of actually having any sort of quality t

please, just, stop!Anyway as I was saying, how are they going to do this? Which screen readers will it teach people to use, and are there plans for translation? All I would do by bringing out my apauling chinese skills would be to cause any native speaker to become extremely distraught about how someone could possibly be so utterly horrible at a language, so it would be nice if I could use it in english

There's also the [Microsoft Help Workshop and Documentation] tools for compiling chm files, and you can use the previously suggested Markdown with [docubot] for generating chm files.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

But when they protest, they are still treated like criminals. When they march, when they rally, when they shout. They're too loud. They're a nuisance. They're too angry. They're in the way. They're inconvenient. But they're not criminals. It doesn't stop the public criticizing them, and it doesn't stop the police using rubber bullets, tear gas and riot batons to get their way.In a perfect, neutral, everything-is-equal world, yes, looting and rioting would be a bad idea, selfish and pointless. But when you live in a world where all of your other actions can get you treated like a guilty person or a criminal, what else can you do but eventually escalate? Everything else doesn't work.To be really fucking blunt for a sec? For a lot of these folks, the police are already treating them like criminals, so what's the actual difference? It's not as if law enforcement has needed a probable cause before now. It's not as if they've ever really been held accountable en masse.Remember, we're agreeing with the idea that harm is being done, and that harm is bad. We agree that it really sucks that this is happening. But if all you do is treat these rioters like criminals, you are ignoring the reason most of them were rioting in the first place. Also, given that most places had by-laws of large gatherings, should we also treat the so-called haircut protestors like criminals and fine or temporarily jail them all? Because, yeah, good luck with that.

@4However, to be clear, I feel really confused by sentences like: the mainstream game industry wants to take control of the accessibility gaming. Really? As I stated on another thread, we, as a community, have almost no real value as consumer's. The last of us 2, the last guess joining this party, will sell millions of copies, as the first installment on th series did, and of all that money, how much will come from blind or accessibility interested users? 1000 dollars around the world? 5000, maybe? The problem we have as blind gamers is exactly the oposite: nobody has comercial interesd on us, we are not the target.Well, yeah. They want to control it because it can be used legally to deny competing engines access to the marketplace. Of course they never cared about accessibility in the first place, accessibility is just a means to an end - now that the issues are growing more visible and people are more vocal about it, corporations are adapting to accommodate it. But this is also exactly the reason why I'm cautious, because when they are able to check off the "we're accessible" checkmarks, they're able to gain market control while neglecting disabled people, and poor accessibility implementation can then be shifted to individual developers again. All while they're the ones with the most technical resources to actually build (when we have to just randomly assemble shit on an internet forum over 15 years)... When the abstract, performative label of "my game is accessible" is pushed out and the market believes it, it doesn't matter at all whether or not disabled people can actually play it, it can still take advantage of that appearance of blind accessibility for market advantage. What's that advantage? Morality points for one (which we've seen a lot of exploitation of), but more importantly, taking advantage of progression of disability law to have a large stake in disability in their product before laws are passed, to eliminate competition, especially competition that has little access to specific accessibility development resources (such as Godot). It's a great story for the tech press and a good sell. That's all that matters. @5A big part of making lasting change is knowing when to be diplomatic in order to get the desired outcome, or when to delegate that part to someone more suited.  It sometimes feels disgusting, like giving in or being dishonest with your self, but no one ever said it would be easy, especially when working with humans in a society that values emotions over logic, and especially in a morally divisive field like disability.Diplomacy has not earned anyone better accessibility and this can clearly be seen by the lack of faith in other members in corporations to even cover the basic needs of accessibility. Anyways, I don't really need to work with them because I can build plug-ins that work with their software; I need to focus on targeting developers instead and demonstrating the ease-of-use and power that we plan on packing into Max. I could see it potentially developing into a hostile development competition where they try to lock out Max compatibility but I think this would reflect pretty poorly on the company that attempts to pull this shit. We need to pilot disability as a weapon, not as a moral position.@6Yeah, sorry, no one cares enough about the blind consumers to take control of gaming accessibility. I would love it if the big corporations were trying to take control of blind accessible gaming. It would be amazing.  It would mean that we mattered and yeah, maybe they'd "win" this imaginary battle but hey, we'd get a hell of a lot of good games out of it.  Also if we did matter and they took control, they'd have to do a good job or we'd just not buy them--it wouldn't be like screen readers where the law says, there'd be market incentive to not suck at it.We don't want corporations to own accessibility - we've already seen what happens when they dominate an accessibility market like Apple (deliberately invests a ton into a one-solution accessibility to try to suffocate competition for disabled choice of phone) or something like windows forms applications which were deprecated over time and the accessibility embedded into them lost. Furthermore, if they own accessibility they control how you interact with software, far more than a person without the need for accessibility tools. The nice thing about Max is that we don't need to work with the corporations. We just need to make it a plug-in that works with these engines that is as smooth as possible for end users. Creating a popular plugin that a lot of people use that is compatible with the general max environment allows max to work around this sort of problem (similar to how using a popular open source library for parsing JSON files can be used in a similar way, but instead of just working a specific function, Max can work with multiple other frontends)

Re: Stadia Accessibility

Sadly I dont think they have enough of a user base to do that effectively. They already tried to alienate the console gamers and tried to market those hardcore console games to the casual gaming market, epicly failing, since the only people who were really interested were people who were familiar with the gaming landscape. However, if they tried to do what the wii did by making some standout products that appealed to the casual market, and had been transparent with what they were doing, and launched stadia as a beta rather than as a finished product, they could have had a ton more success.

I would’ve loved to return to the first continent as a tourist or something, would have been interesting to see how it all evolved since this is apparently set quite a long time after the events of the first installment. I also think that the entire plot kind of fell down when we discover who really was behind all of this, but that’s just me.  I would’ve enjoyed keeping the character and just moving the story to him, bringing in an old face as an aside in a neat moment of reunion and redemption. Purposefully not dropping names on the off chance that somebody else is reading this and has not played through that portion.

Re: Let's Build an RPG!

AHC system would not be hard to implement at all.  There are certainly things you could do to speed it up if need be, and you can definitely implement it incorrectly, but it’s not really difficult per say. Unfortunately, I don’t think I am skilled enough to contribute. I have vague ideas of how to handle events, but those typically end up being scrapped for something better when I actually sit down and figure it all out.  Unfortunately, I am quite busy at this point, so no messing with quests for me for a while. One day I’m going to sit down and post all my questions with relative links to what I have read on here, as I would like to receive some answers. It won’t be today, however.

The error in fact can’t be fixed by placing the import in the tri-/except statement.  you need to have your program delete the file, or try to, and only then tell the user if the issue still persists.

Flexible survival soundpack in the work, and a few questions regarding

Yo!I bet at least 75% of you know I'm maintaining and improving on mushclient soundpack for Clok. This time, aside from working on that, as I detailed in a few topics before, I have soundpacks in the work, including this one for flexible survival. It's in progress, and it's going well. But I don't want it to be one sided since I only have one aspect of the mud to experience (I rarely rp).Questions are: for those who play, what do you think are the most important that must, must, must have sounds attached before anything else? Damage sounds have already been worked on. Some other aspects of the game are worked on here and there, like salvage loots, equipment/item management. But I haven't got time to do heavy work on anything just yet. I wanna make sure important basic stuff I may or may not have overlooked get covered. Any feedback/suggestions are welcomed.

Just did a quick peek at the game--much as I first got started on the book. THe game seems interesting, easy enough to learn, and hard to master--a very good game, in my opinion. I wish there was an English translation that didnt rely on Google translate though--I enjoy storyline and hearing how Translate mangles grammar and throws up nonsensical phrases makes me grit my teeth. Still, I enjoyed playing what I did of the game. @16 thank you for the manual; it was very helpful.

2020-06-02 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Jayde via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

What many pokemon games do - and people don't usually bitch about their storyline pacing, for the most part - is have you finish the villain story arc just before or just after you get the last badge or whatnot. But then, it definitely also plays up the whole "you're on a journey to become the very best" thing, and Aaron kind of lets that fly. The fact is, his narrative skills leave a lot to be desired. Some people can write. Aaron can't. That's not to bash him, either. I can't code. It's just a skill he doesn't have. So I think a game like this really needs the touch of one or more people who have a much better feel for pacing, tone, all that jazz.An example (not of pacing, just of tone) that came to me this morning when I was thinking about this - one of the things I do on the game I'm a part of is build quests, so this is why I was thinking about it - was a part in the game when a certain girl is talking to her disgraced father. There's the line, "She just glared at him, and glared at him, and glared at him." Record scratch. Who wrote this? I'm back in the real world. A line like, "She stood there, glaring coldly down into his worn face" does everything the repeated phrase above does, and far more. And the script is basically built on this. So part of the reason that the game feels rushed is because, ahem, it is rushed at the end. And part of it is because the script is written in such a way that it just doesn't grab you the way it's supposed to. It tries, and it does a bit better than the first manamon I think, but it's not anywhere close to an acceptable standard IMO yet.

This does lead me to one question:This game was proposed before A Hero's Call, and while I was on the dev team for a short while, it didn't last. I actually quite like the movement style in that game. How difficult would it be from a coding or sound-design standpoint to do that, as opposed to a tile-based top-down view? Because I'm willing to adjust that part of design if for some reason a full 2d map experience is better.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

I don't feel a particular need to avoid commenting on what I see. Canada is right next to the United States. I've been there. I've talked to Americans. Racism is real. I won't come over the border to fix your problem, but you -do have a problem. And as I also pointed out, so do we. Canadians have issues with racism too. It's not just America, not by any stretch. If you think I'm under the delusion that all Canadians are saintly, think again. But if you expect a free pass just because I'm not an American and apparently don't have a right to judge your country? That's a big hail no.Yes, in fact, I do know several small business owners. Thankfully, none of them have been directly affected by these protests. But because I'm good at knowing my reaction to things, I can tell you what I'd do. I would support them however I could. I'd commiserate. I'd console them, because it sucks losing things for reasons that don't concern your own actions. But I would never, ever walk into a post about racism and start demonizing protestors. Because these protestors, or, more accurately, the issues they represent, are bigger than small business. They're bigger than my friends. These issues are tearing the country apart.Again, the harm isn't good. We agree on this. But in perspective, the harm is drops of water in the ocean that is the main issue here. If you shoot and kill an innocent, that puts you about on a level with Derek Chauvin. But if all you do is throw a torch or a brick, or steal a TV from Target, you're on a much, much lower level here. The fact that you are equating objects and property with human lives is frankly discouraging and disgusting. And no. You're right. Your hair-cut-seeking protestors didn't get violent. They didn't have to. They just jacked up the infection rates and endangered people. They didn't even have to throw punches or Molotov cocktails to do that. All they had to do was decide that their right to a fucking haircut mattered more than public safety. And that's what they did, by god.

Re: Stadia Accessibility

@6Stadia is subscription-based. They don't need ongoing sales to make money.@7I dunno. It makes a great deal of sense to me.  It's just a typical scaling problem, the endpoint of the path we've been on that got us from one server across half the planet from you to Google-quality networking to CloudFlare to Stadia.  I mean hell, from the looks of things there's a real chance that even TCP won't be the dominant transport in 5 years.  And if Starlink happens, that'll be low enough latency that you can do this kind of thing at scale for the vast majority of game genres.  Yeah, you'll have to design for it of course, but then we designed for the NES too.  And to be honest, saying that now, I could see Google's strategy as planning to hold out for Starlink or similar, and using their early foothold to their advantage when it happens.  But who knows, Google is notoriously hard to predict.

I could be wrong here, but it really seems like Aaron gets to a point in his games where he's sputtering along on fumes and has to bring it in for an abrupt landing before it dies completely. At least it seems like that in the manamon games. Manamon's postgame just feels like it was hastily thrown together. Manamon 2 sees you finishing the story and then collecting the last keys in rapid succession. I'd like to see one of these where you go through and collect all the keys and get little bits and pieces of the main story as you go. Then after you get all the keys or become the master or whatnot, the story opens up. The way it is now just kind of feels like little more than tying up loose ends.

(Source: clauses 2 and 3 of GPL-2.0, https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licens … .0.en.html.) Therefore, assuming my interpretation of those clauses is correct, then the admins are actively violating the GPL. If the mods would like me to set up a demo of it, I'd be happy to do so -- just PM me and I'll get it going for you. You can host it yourself on Digital Ocean, too, but I don't mind setting up a demo for experimentation so that you guys don't need to fork over money to actually play around with it. (And yes, before someone reminds me, I am very aware that Liam or Carter could do this as well. But it doesn't hurt to offer anyway. ) I understand the hassle it would be to move all the users over to the new forum software if we did go that route, but it would bring a large number of features to the AG forum community that this forum just doesn't have, and most of these features are actually expected on modern forums these days anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if an outsider who's never seen this forum in their entire lives, but who's worked on forums like the Go Forum or the CMake Discourse, were to come here and got the immediate impression that we were stagnant because we refused to change. Of course, that's not the actual problem, but considering how (ancient) PunBB/PanBB are, that impression certainly isn't unreasonable.

Also, what do you mean by classes? There are a number of ways you can learn to program. Some of it may consist of you exploring on your own. There are coding tutorial courses, there are literal online classes into which you can enroll, and there are even archived online classes offered by big-name universities like MIT or Stanford. Some are free and others are paid. Paid curriculum allow the benefit of learning through a structured approach. Just some things to keep in mind.

Re: Let's Build an RPG!

Well, they aren't really steps forward at this point. lol This game has been in hiatus for the better part of two years. Admittedly, I spent most of that time in school and up to my ears in schoolwork. Really, I was taking a gamble here, thought maybe I could use the downtime during the pandemic. Even then, though, the right time might have been three months ago. Bah.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

@JaydeYou are right that people were protesting because their businesses were shutdown and they wanted to reopen. Do you know what they were not doing? They didn't go around looting, shooting at police, or beating innocent people. I would also like to ask you a question. Have you ever owned a business or known someone who did? If you did, maybe you would understand. It isn't just a few windows, people have put their entire life savings in to these businesses, and now it is  gone. That money has to come from somewhere, and insurance will only cover so much.I also find it interesting how you say how racist the United States is, but you live in Canada, so you can stop telling me how racist my country is. I don't comment on  Canada because I don't live there.

Re: Disgusted by the moderators on this site

I appreciate inactive moderators voluntarily stepping down.Admittedly, I find little things to complain to myself about from time to time on the site, but I understand the trade-offs my suggestions and complaints might ultimately bring. I was a bit dismayed at some of the conversations taking place on that CrazyParty sounds topic. Suffice it to say that after reading through those posts, I now have a better outlook on where things stand.I won't praise or shame anything about the moderation status. However, I am in agreement that there should ideally be more leadership, collaboration, and mutual reinforcement. My observation is that collaboration is limited and actions are primarily left to one, maybe two, individuals. This is a very tricky area because I don't know if existing moderators should allow just anyone to moderate. I feel qualification criteria might be something to consider.Believe it or not, the AG forum means a lot to me, and I'm sure to many others as well. It would be a shame if our little community fell apart.Another part of my concern lies in how this website might fail to adapt to newer technologies. We have some great history here on these pages. I can't imagine what would happen if all of a sudden the forum software gave out due to irreparable damage, or the infrastructure just falls apart. Wonder if we can get rights to the domain, source code, databases, etc. Perhaps a financial agreement? So many thoughts, so little time to write them down. Anyway, my best contribution at the moment is to offer this food for thought. I unfortunately lack the time, like many others I'm sure, to provide assistance I very much wish I could offer.

Re: Zombie war revived! Now with Online mode!

Multiple people can say they think he's so-and-so, but until or unless they provide some sort of proof, it's all hearsay. A bunch of those self-same people could claim that I sent them harassing private messages (I wouldn't do that, of course, but work with me), but I wouldn't expect any of you to believe them fully until or unless they showed those messages, or until such time that a confession from me was forthcoming.Millions of people once would have sworn that the earth was flat, and was the center of the universe. They were all wrong. I wouldn't believe them just because there were a lot of them.Look, I'm going to level with you for a moment. You are almost certainly correct, and I'm not a fool. I know better. Writing patterns are similar. Behaviour is similar. I don't want to actively disbelieve you. But I don't have enough info to make a decision that will largely impact someone's time here. Part of the whole power thing is using it responsibly. I would not feel right about torching someone just because four or five of you made unsubstantiated claims about who they were.So you're not working at cross-purposes with me here. We're on the same side, and we probably believe the same thing in this instance. Just help me prove it.

I like this and have learned a lot, thanks all for providing other alternatives, not just eloquence but other voices as well. For the record, I tried to make a voice for modeltalker, which is the one that cody made, the famous cody sapi 5 tts one. But their system is sadly very outdated, plus you can record with only their software alone which does not properly support professional audio interfaces (which is a shame) so it was a total failure, but at least I tried.

So much has been added to ROK II since I last posted here. Just to touch on some:* Choose your own race: human, elf, half-orc, etc.* Dungeons where you can write in the outcome* You can view other Characters and interact with them one on one.I can't remember them all off the top of my head so here is a list of all features: View Features.

Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

The entire law enforcement system has racism running through it like poison. There are plenty of good people involved - good cops, good judges, good prison guards, the whole shebang - but the system itself has all kinds of problems with it.If you don't believe America is racist, take a look at this:A black man shoots a white person, clips him, and gets something like twenty-two years in jail.On the flip side, less than 2% of police who murder people are ever convicted of criminal charges. That is the fault of a system which, like it or not, uses race as a determinant of personal quality. You yourself may not be racist. I applaud you for this. I'm not racist either. But your country is racist, and so is mine, and we have to learn to fix it. Racism is better than it used to be, but it's not anywhere near done yet. Don't try and shove it under the rug, and don't let anyone else do it either. We agree that the harm dealt by some rioters is not good. But we don't agree on the scope of that harm. On one side, you have some businesses being trashed. On the other side, you have decades of unpunished abused and murder. Are you seriously going to waste your time condemning the rioters and protestors when there is so, so much to be upset about on the other side? Stuff which, let's be real, pretty much led us directly to the current state of affairs in the first place?Socialism isn't failing Venezuela. Totalitarianism and greed are failing Venezuela. Same goes for virtually every other socialist or communist country you can name. The fact that humans have tried to go totalitarian pretty much every time doesn't mean that this is an intrinsic part of the process. It only looks that way.Remember: the political compass has more than one axis.On a more Covid-related point, BTW, I'm pretty well disgusted with people who have been congregating in big groups in parks. Seriously? The moment people start talking about opening up, and you're in a group in the park partying? Great idea. Absolutely fucking brilliant.Oh and also, to neatly circle around to protests for a second:White people were pretty recently protesting because they couldn't get haircuts. They went out in packs, risking their own lives as well as those of others, during a pandemic, because they couldn't get their fucking hair cut. Now stand that up next to the rioting around George Floyd's death. You tell me which one looks worse now And after you're done chewing on that, ask yourself why you're so bound and determined to demonize protestors who are calling out racism as they see it, even when that means showing anger and maybe breaking some things along the way. Are you guilty, perhaps? Are you ashamed? Are you maybe just a little bit flabbergasted? Are you maybe wishing all this nonsense would just go away? Do you have no idea what all the god-damned fuss is about and think people are just too angry?Welcome to dismantling racism, where I tell you that if you're a white person who has any of those aforementioned feelings, you are indirectly contributing to the issue if all you want to do is shout about them gosh-dang protestors. Educate yourself. Be stronger, be accountable, and hold those around you accountable. Stop making excuses. Stop throwing up smokescreens. Accept complicitude, and let's get busy fixing this broken machine before it explodes. If you're American, this will certainly mean getting Blabbermouth Don out of office in November. And Mr. Biden's no peach, but he's got to be better than the current shit-show.
