Re: Corona Virus: is it the beginning of the end?

Here in Croatia, currently 235 people are affected by COVID 19. Today, there were 29 new cases, and 78 yesterday. Additionally, there was an earthquake here in Zagreb this morning, that happened thrice in the time between 6 o'clock and 7 o'clock. The earthquake destroyed the tower of the church and the tiles on individual buildings, it cracked wires of trams, also in some parts of the city roofs and walls of houses were destroyed, one child was seriously injured and fighting for her life as a piece of the roof fell on her. The women with born little babies are standing out infront of the hospital in slumber, people are running out massively, and were told to go outside and to keep a distance of one meter to prevent further virus spreading. Thanks god that all of my family is ok. Here as well, everything is closed including shops, all the public transports are closed, the police tracks people who get out of there homes, and only one person at a time may go out, not two or more. Kindergardens and schools are closed as well.

I'm sorry but rooting a phone is not possible for everyone. It's ok if it's my own phone and if I can root it without sighted assistance, but if it's a phone received by my company, then no thanks. I do, however, support this screen reader if most of it's features can be used without rooting a phone. Just to mention that rooting a phone means goodbye warranty.

Re: the most annoying song you can link to

Well, it doesn't sound that bad for me. It's funny in fact. I also have some of my songs that I hate, although others like it. For example, here's the only song that I've wrote and sung in english language. I wrote the lyrics in about 30 minutes, and I've produced it in Reaper with Addictive Drums2 for drums, ReFX Slayer for the guitar, V-Station for the organ sound, and some Minimoog emulation VST for the synth sound. The song is called Loneliness (the Prisoner's Ballad), and I hate it infact, mostly because of the badly written lyrics. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tAyVzoBcMs

Re: learning to eddit?

From my personal experience, Goldwave might be good for beginners if it's your first audio editing software. However, if you've used software such as Adobe Audition or Sound Forge before (like I did), and then you try to switch to Goldwave, it will take some time to get used to it's way of editing audio. And I can say similar thing for Audacity. The thing is, selecting portions of audio in Sound Forge and Audition is similar to text selection. That is, Ctrl+Shift+Home selects from cursor to the beginning, Shift+Right Arrow selects a chunk of audio while Shift+Left Arrow unselects it. In Goldwave, you first have to set your start and finish markers and then memorize shortcuts for moving start and finish markers to extend or shrink a selection, which was quite confusing to me while trying it for the first time. I don't know, but Sound Forge seams easier to me, at least if we talk about audio selection. However, Goldwave's and Reaper's cost is much lower comparing to Sound Forge's, and Audacity is free, so that's one of the reasons why better start with those.

Re: screen reader friendly software for sound settings

If you do Google Search, try writing Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro. That is the exact model name, I've checked it out again in card's control panel.I'm using NVDA, and Creative Control Panel is preinstalled with drivers and other software that I'm not using. You will find it in a start menu. I've put it on the desktop though, to get to it more quickly. I'm not sure which driver is the latest one, I'm using the one that was updated to support Windows 8, and works fine for me here on Windows 10 64-bit.The only thing that I hate about this driver is that all my sound settings get messed up every time when I update windows to a newer insider build or new major update, but thankfully that is easily fixable by resetting and reconfiguring settings in Creative Control Panel. This card has a large round button at the top that is used for volume control or toggling mute on and off. It's not that large, so it's portable.

It's Creative control panel is is at least totally accessible, allowing me to switch effects, reset card settings, and even turn on microphone output which works much better than "Listen to this device" option in Windows record properties because there's no latency at all. I've purchased this card in 2012 for around 100 dollars or 600 croatian kunas over here, and it's durability seams to be nice as it hit the ground accidentaly many times and it's still alive and working well. It's simply awesome, especially can be awesome for gaming because it's a sound card made primarily for gaming purposes. My Logitech G430 Headset, which clames to be for gaming as well, however, doesn't have accessible interface, so I'm using Microsoft drivers with which I don't have full control of headset's features, unfortunately.A friend of mine has recently purchased external sound card as well, I can't remember manufacturer name. It's settings are inaccessible with regular keyboard navigation, and hard to get with object navigation. The only thing that is accessible with the keyboard are page tabs and OK/Cancel buttons, which sucks.

You can also use command line, but this will be much harder, because if you get stuck you will have to find solution on your own. With software such as Melodyne this shouldn't be complicated really, because Melodyne was made for exactly such kind of work. It's inaccessible with screen readers though, or at least it was when I tried it back in version 3. I've was also listening to guy doing this in Cubase by just dropping speech segments and dragging them around with mouse to create notes. We can do it in Reaper, by using Elastique algorhythm that works best from my personal experience. It isn't hard, but it's quite tedious because you have to do a lot of splitting, stretching and pitch shifting, and we can't do that with just one or two keyboard shortcuts. Sighted person with a mouse can just do it a lot faster.

Re: Windows Screen Reader Usage data

Another full-time NVDA user here. Not just a user, but also a contributor and addon writer. I've also donated on some way by purchasing some training material from their website, but I'm planning to donate on a monthly bases sooner or later. Started using NVDA 10 years ago, and stopped using JAWS since 2010. I'm also using NVDA at work, because NVDA just works fine with Android Studio that I'm using daily at my workplace. And, since this is the audiogame site, NVDA is also most game-friendly screen reader. No keyhooks required, and addon for translating japanese games is also available.I've stopped using JAWS mainly because I had troubles with it, and because I'm against FS policy. Upgrades to newer versions cost too much, and if you can't pay for upgrade because your SMA expired, you will be left behind with old operating system and software and security pitfalls because older JAWS versions may not always support newer software. It also happened to me that the activation stopped working after some hardware driver was updated on a Windows update when I was maintaining the PC in our association where JAWS 15 is installed. Yes, 15, because that was the last version we were able to upgrade to for free. Anyway, I had to do a system restor to an earlier restore point just to save that activation key. The second thing is graphics driver issues, because it happened to me not just once that video intercept failed to work because of that damn graphics driver. So, NVDA was rebirth for me.Now with Narrator in Windows 10, I would gladly use it as well, but the problem is that it works mostly with Microsoft apps and the apps that are using standard Windows controls. It doesn't support 3rd-party web browsers such as Chrome and Firefox, doesn't support Thunderbird, doesn't support Java applications, and I'm using these programs on a daily bases so Narrator simply doesn't fit my needs, but anyway I like how Microsoft started improving it because Windows 7 and older version of Narrator just sucked.

Guys, all that problems can be reported to NVDA's github issue tracker. You don't have to be their authorized tester or registered user to do it. The issue tracker is public.

Re: Jaws2018 is out and possible upcoming firefox problem with jaws

The biggest problem with JAWS is that it always has some compatibility issues with new versions of software, and FS needs ages to fix that. That was ten years ago when Vista came out, that is happening again now with Firefox. Microsoft Edge wasn't supported by JAWS until recently, NVDA already supported it months and months before. This is ridiculous for a screen reader that costs a lot of money to not support something that is already supported by it's free alternative. Regarding stability, I even won't talk about JAWS's unstable Sapi 5 driver and how it crashes some tts synths that will never crash with NVDA. Don't even try to say "You know, that never happened to me". If it didn't to you, it happened to me, and that was enough for me to move away from JFW, because NVDA's SAPI5 driver at least never crashed on me or created a stupid buzzing sound like JAWS's did.The problem is, they didn't work hard enough to fix bugs and support a new software on time, the only important thing is that they take money from people for nothing in return. That's why I've switched to NVDA, because it's at least free, so therefore it's not a problem if it fails somewhere, or if it doesn't support new software on time, although it usually supports new versions of Windows and some other software even before it's released, which is more than nice for a free screen reader. If I'm paying thousand dollars for a screen reader, it needs to be perfect, not good, I said perfect. And JAWS will probably be perfect for 50 years, because in my opinion the last realy stable version of JAWS was 7.0, nothing after that, and I've used it actively until version 13, although I've used 14 and 15 sometimes as well. And regarding Internet Explorer, well guys I wish you a good luck with browser that is no longer supported by Microsoft, and that will sooner or later have security problems, because they've already replaced IE with Edge.

Re: Jaws2018 is out and possible upcoming firefox problem with jaws

I don't understand why people think that NVDA lacks support for MS Office. NVAccess during last years worked mostly on Office support, and it's PowerPoint support in my opinion is even better than JFW's support. If NVDA is little more sluggish with Office, it doesn't mean that Office isn't supported. It is just a bug that needs to be reported to NVAccess's issue tracker on github. I even won't remember the days when I was using JAWS 13 with Office 2007. It was so bad experience, especially with Microsoft Access. The problem was that JAWS didn't work well with croatian version of Office. It didn't wanna read header and footer fields properly, it didn't wanna read combo boxes in MS Access, so what are we talking about. And the same problem occured even later with JAWS 15 and Office 2010. So if something is paid doesn't mean that is better, it's far from that. And yeah, I'm using NVDA at work. Yes, at work! And I'm glad that I do, especially because JAWS is incompatible with Android Studio that I'm using at work every day.

Re: accessible program for music production

IMO, for serious audio and music production from an accessibility point of view, nothing beats Reaper with OSARA plugin, especially if we talk about editing automation envelopes via keyboard shortcuts, or editing notes in midi editor. Sonar never let me do this without using an external controler and keyboard, which I don't have, so I had to send notes and controllers from QWS to Sonar by using virtual cabel which was a real pain and time wasting. Reaper is certainly not better than e.g. Protools, Sonar or Cubase because it's much younger product, but on the other hand it has a lot of interesting features, scripting, and plugin extensions. I'm using Reaper for 7 years and I'm never looking back, unless Cubase or FL studio becomes accessible that will never happen. BTW, Reaper costs 60 dollars only for personal use, which is a quite revolutionary price comparing to prices of all other daws.

I'm using youtube-dl, but I'm starting it via my custom-made .bat file so I don't have to type manually from the command line. And I've set it up so it loads all links from a .txt file, which allows me to download multiple links at once, the program's output such as error messages or download progress goes into the log file and it's the best option for me because it works automatically and the application is updated regularly. Re: Your experiences with Windows 10 mobile

Windows Phone was discontinued recently, so we can't hope for anything better than it is.I've played some time ago (in 2014) with Lumia 930 that was running on WP 8.1. The TTS responce was slow, and that's a big minus. The only good thing is that in Internet Explorer Narrator implemented navigation commands by headings, links etc. by flicking up or down. I was impressed then, because I thought that that's a good sign and that Microsoft will improve accessibility of WP, but nothing happened. No additional languages or TTS choices, and you are even forced to switch to english, otherwise Narrator will not work because english is the only Narrator's supported language on WP.Additionally, we have far larger choice of applications on other platforms such as Android and iOS than we have on WP.

Re: Why I left Linux and Android

The biggest mistake is that people are trying to compare iOS with some old Android version. Before complaining, get device with Android 7.1.1 or even 8.0 Orio once it comes out, and then you can say that Android's accessibility is really bad. Oh, and I haven't commented Linux yet in this topic. I love what Linux does, and how it does, but Linux accessibility is way behind other platforms, at least for GUI. I was using Arch Linux for about 4 months alone, and the first thing that I didn't like is Orca's current web support. Next, QT accessibility is far from being good. I'm doing sound editing and audio production, and none of the apps for such kind of work are accessible enough on Linux. That's why I went back to Windows, but it was very funny experience for me to work in Linux environment for 24 hours. I say good, but it's not enough for my personal needs.

Re: Why I left Linux and Android

Hello,Speaking of web browsing and emailing, I agree that Voice Over has some advantages comparing to Talkback, such as more navigation modes and easy text selection. On Android it could be a bit harder, but it's not impossible. GMail application is accessible, but I don't like the interface so I've got AquaMail which is the most accessible email client on Android and deleting messages is simple as tapping on a selector to the left of each message and choosing delete. But you guys who constantly complain about Android's eas of use, look at iTunes. It took me a bunch of time tabbing through the iTunes interface and finding a right place just to transfer a stupid recording to my PC. I'm using my device for listening to music and recording stuff as well, so it's really counterproductive for me to waste my time just to copy a single file onto device. The only thing that Apple allows you to do via copy-paste is transfering your pictures and vide
os, which is very important for a totally blind person . I agree that Android's openness has it's bad sides, but at least you can do many more things and transfering files is as simple as finding a device in Windows Explorer and copying-pasting a file or folder. And using 3rd-party apps is something that sighted people do as well, because even on Windows you will certainly use a better web browser than Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge. I don't believe that Windows Narrator will ever support third-party apps, since Microsoft is focusing only on accessibility of their own apps, so NVDA will be step further for a long time.Have you ever asked yourself why iOS apps are more expensive than Android apps? Well, read my post number 24 again and you will know the answer. XCode which is used for developing iOS apps probably requires a better Mac computer, which is
far from cheep, and XCode doesn't run on Windows.Yes, Voice Over is nice for what it does, at least on iOS, but some people don't use their phones only for calling, messaging and mailing. Some people want a lot more, so in my opinion iPhone or iPad is definitely not a device for more advanced users who want the most of their devices. So, my message to Apple is: Give me removable storage, allow me to develope apps on Windows for a smaller fee, give me SD card support, give me more TTS choices and you will get me.

Re: looking for Recommendations for android phones

A friend of mine is using Lenovo K6. It's accessible, however there are small accessibility issues. The worst problem is answering a phone call, so the best way to answer a call is by bringing your phone to an ear, which is available as an option. I'm using Lenovo P70, but with unofficial Lenovo Marshmallow Rom due to problems introduced in official Lollipop upgrade for that model. For Nokia lovers, it's a good news that Nokia is coming back to Finland and they've produced fiew new Android phones also with Nexus-like Android experience. These are Nokia 6 and Nokia 5, and both will be cheep phones. My candidates for my next phone are definitely Motorola Moto G5 or G4, or General Mobile 5G, or even Nokia 6 if it comes to our market. These devices are cheep and they receive regular Android updates, which is now top priority for me at least. If I decide to roll with custom roms, then OnePlus 3T will probably be my phone of choice.

I am the one of the oldest NVDA users, but I've started using it fulltime since 2010 with no other screen reader installed. Recently I had to install licensed copy of Jaws 18 for another person, and I couldn't believe when I've discovered that JAWS 18, which is a comertial screen reader, does *NOT* work with Microsoft Edge! Come on! I really couldn't believe that, because NVDA in 2016.4 version already supports Edge, and they are moving that support even further in 2017.1 to improve it and prepare it for Windows 10 Creators Update. However, the best screen reader for working with Edge is of course Narrator, and currently Narrator is getting closer and closer to become very usable screen reader, which is something that many people were waiting for. In Creators Update, Narrator already supports braille, and you will be able to start it out-of-the-box during Windows installation, which was quite known and normal over the years for Mac and Linux users.

Re: Facebook Accessibility Really Sucks

I'm using mobile Facebook most of the time. I have to agree that the regular Facebook site really sucks sometimes. For example, I just tried both in Firefox and Chrome to access "What's on your mind" edit field by using the quick nav key E with NVDA. The result is, it will allow me to focus search box, but after that it will say "no more edit fields" in Firefox, or in case of Chrome, it'll skip "what's on your mind" and instead will throw me at comment input field for the last published status on a news feed. The workaround for me was to go to first subheading at the news feed with H key, than go to "what's on your mind" with either Shift+F, Shift+E or whatever similar worked. But this works sometimes, and sometimes doesn't.Next, since I'm Windows 10 user, I've tried Facebook universal app, AKA Metro app. The first time I've tried it, it's accessibility wasn't so bad, but far from
very good. Now they even made it worse, since I can't focus edit fields for entering username and password anymore, and I tried both with NVDA and Narrator. And when we are at Narrator, as a last thing, I've tried accessing regular Facebook site with Narrator and Microsoft Edge, by using Narrator's scan mode. And I was really surprised. It actually allowed me to get to "what's on your mind" field. Now that's interesting, probably should try it with NVDA as well, since it's getting better support for Edge. And as a conclusion: For me personally mobile Facebook site or Android/iOS app is currently way to go for accessing Facebook. I also like Twitter more, despite the 140 character limit in tweets, but the problem is that here in ex Yugoslavia area Facebook is just more popular, and I should say Unfortunately at this time.Edit: Just to mention that I'm talking about Narrator/Edge combination in current Win10 insider build, a
nd not current official version. This is what will come in Creators Update this year.

I'm usually stuttering when I'm losing concentration while trying to explain something, and then I miss words. This happens quite often to me, because I'm giving computer education and technical support to blind people in our blind association. For example, I'm trying to explain to absolute computer beginners who are usually more than 60 years old that desktop is like an entrance hole in the house, from where you can enter all other rooms. Your user folder is like a living room, where you can access your documents, music and pictures. In such situations, when I'm trying to be concentrated as best as I can in order to explain various computer terms to first-time PC users, I usually get stuck, I know what I meen but I don't know how to say it in that particular moment. That's where stuttering will happen in my situation.People who don't speak my language will also notice if they ever talk to me via voice chat that I'm also stuttering a lot while trying to explain something in english, and it's even more often than in case of my native language, but ok that's also to be expected from non-english speaker.I'm sure you will find stuttering and long pauses between words or phrases in any of my recordings where I didn't make sound editing afterwards. For example, here's recording that I've made recently in english. I made this recording just for fun to show how to make a bat sound with audacity. I don't know if people in this topic collect names of voice actors for english voices only or not, but I'm also interested who did voice acting for other Vocalizer voices e.g., german, italian, swedish, czech, turkish or japanese. The new croatian voice that is available in new version of Vocalizer is called Lana, and the voice was recorded by croatian actor, jazz singer and TV speaker Jasna Bilušić (pronounced Yasna Beeloosheech).

Re: Becoming fed up with Linux

I got nothing to add here, because I already brought my opinions on Linux's strengths and weaknesses in another recent topic in the same subforum. What I'd like to mention is that I'm even no longer using Thunderbird on Windows. The thing is, I'm on imap and whenever I get thousands of emails which happens to me quite frequently, Thunderbird just stops responding either randomly or when I try to delete multiple emails, and I got sick of that. I'm now using japanese email client called Becky, which is far from perfect in accessibility, but it's still accessible and fast enough to be a good replacement for me, at least until all issues in Windows 10 mail app are gone. Becky, however, doesn't work on Linux. I've been using SeaMonkey when I was on Linux.

Re: TheQube

Yep, The Qube was a nice alternative to Qwitter, however in a meantime TWBlue has been released as a free replica to Chicken Nugget, giving more features and improvements over time. So after TWBlue, The Qube devs probably realised that developing Qube further is not worth wasting their time. Remember that The Qube wasn't the only fork of Qwitter, there was Twitmonger as well, which is also no longer developed. Since I was the one who contributed code for a couple of features to Qwitter such as translating tweets and better autostart implementation back in 2012 when it was developed by Christopher Toth, I was thinking of taking over the project as well, but I haven't done this because of other priorities, and because I knew that working on such a large project will be far from easy for my coding experience that I had at that time. Now I'm using Chicken Nugget, but if you need free alternative then you should definitely give a shot to TWBlue. In my opinion, Manuel did
a very good job with TWBlue and he even started porting it to Linux as well.

Unfortunately, todays world doesn't function like that, and thus I'm solo now, and before you ask me, I'm happy to be solo, rather than having emotional injuries due to unrequited love or broken relationship. Yes I had girlfriends in the past, all of them being blind or visually impaired. Having a sighted girl is something that I don't believe in, because many of them just go away when you say you are blind. Oh, You're blind? Goodbye then! However, even relationships
with blind girls may fail, because of e.g. girl's or boy's parents, because the girl or boy cannot throw away their past relationships, or because they are not independent enough to live together. In fact, I think that noone of my past girls truely loved me. They probably felt like that, or they wanted to forget their ex boys, or they wanted to just have a new chance with me not knowing that it will eventually fail. My last girlfriend, who's also blind, was a special story. Basically, she was looking at love and life like 12-year-old kid, in her twenties. I'm not blaming her, because some blind people are functioning on that way, and there's nothing we can do about it. BTW, no hard feelings, I know that there are some forum members here who actually grew up at that age. Many kids at that age usually hate school, and they are not aware that working hours and hours to earn money and looking for job is very, very hard thing, and much harder than going to school

I'm solo since then, and I'm glad that I am. Later I met some more nice girls, and they are very nice for conversation and support. I really don't need more. I really enjoy having a girl as a good friend, because my friendships with girls were always more successful than the relationships. Python and 3d positioning with Libaudioverse

2016-09-09 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : Hrvoje via Audiogames-reflector

Python and 3d positioning with Libaudioverse

Hello all,So, I'm now experimenting with making true 3d game in python where you can move in directions left, right, forward, back, up and down. So 3d sound will also be used. There's one thing which confuses me though. Libaudioverse's positioning works totally different than bgt's (I don't know if it's similar to OpenAl or not because I haven't worked with OpenAl yet). I've chose Libaudioverse because it has many advanced features that may be useful later if I decide to implement reverb for large arias, or filters for representing objects behind the closed door. So, in BGT you position sounds and listener by specifying x,y coordinates, e.g., 50, 0. Libaudioverse uses positive and negative values for this, and I'm not sure how to make it convertable to real coordinates, so instead writing (-1, 0, 0), I can simply specify x,y,z position of the object on a map let's say 50,50,0 and then convert it to values that Libau
dioverse understands. I'm not the best when it comes to math, so I need at least some guidelines on how to achieve this conversion. Let's say the room max size is 100 by 100, and you can clime upto 100 squares in the air, the player is at coordinates x50, y0, z0 and there's an object e.g. telephone ringing at room coordinates x50, y50, z0. Please note that this game will not have turning like in fps. Instead it'll work like an rpg where you can move in 4 directions (north, south, east and west), and you can clime up and down, for example on a ladder or tree.I was trying to follow the code for Shooter game that was recently posted, but code is not commented with docstrings so it may take a lot of time. Thanks for any help.

Yep I'm planning to buy subscription for CaptchaBeGone as well. I've read some people complaining about it's high price and bla bla, and claiming that Rumola is much cheeper as well as WebVisum being free and bla bla. In my case, I wouldn't agree because Web Visum works horibly with newer versions of Firefox, and Rumola failed for me numerous times to solve what I need. Sorry, but I really don't wanna stick with older and less secure versions of Firefox just because of one addon extension which hasn't been updated properly for ages, nor I wanna pay for extension whose work is questionable. I'd rather pay more money for CBG and have at least 99% working solution which doesn't crash or slow down my browser and doesn't fail at solving captchas. Of course, some people think it's expensive because they don't have to solve captchas every day or very often, but that's why you have monthly subscription. When I want to solve captc
ha, I want to do it quickly with no mistakes and no years of waiting.

Re: 1 thing holding me back from switching to Linux.

Yep, Linux is great, but I was unable to keep it as my primary OS due to the following facts:1. None of the Linux DAW software that I've tried is accessible. On Windows we have Reaper plus a bunch of VST plugins not available for Linux.2. Web browsing with Orca seamed to me somewhat buggy at times. Plus I can't run flash videos easily like with NVDA. Adobe Flash Player for Linux is also discontinued as far as I know, but many websites still don't wanna switch to html5.3. Linux has a small number of speech synthesizers available. On Windows we have Vocalizer and Acapela, both available for NVDA, plus a lot more.4. We are on audiogames forum, and we all know that 99% of games are windows-compatible, excluding those made for mobile devices. OK, running an audio game through Wine or VM shouldn't be a problem, but running DAW software with VST Plugins in a VM could be problematic due to slower performance. Also, after purchasing some sof
tware and games for Windows, I can't switch to Linux completely.5. I also sometimes ran into problems with PulseAudio, that are hard to fix if you lose sound support as a blind person. What I like in Linux:1. Good for software development. Many development tools and dependencies already installed by default.2. Very fast and low on ram and CPU usage with lightwate GUIs such as Mate.3. Software is easy to install thanks to package managers.4. No registry like in Windows, no constant background work to slow down your pc.5. Rolling release distros available, which means you install once and get lifetime updates with no need to reinstall the os or reboot the system in most cases.6. No need to install drivers! Although Windows autodetects hardware in it's database, there still may be devices needing manual driver installation. On Linux even braille displays are automatically detected with no need to install manufacturer driver, than
 ks to BRLTTY.

Re: Ranking Screen Readers In Windows10 Anniversary Update: your thoughts?

I agree that Narrator in latest Windows10 is a huge improvement comparing to previous Windows versions, but Microsoft needs to implement a lot more to make it day-by-day screen reader for more people, for example: scripting support, support for 3rd-party desktop apps, and braille support. Also I don't like the fact that they still haven't allowed the user to move narrator's settings window out of the alt+tab order, because if you accidentaly alt+tab to it and then press alt+f4, you will exit Narrator.

Re: GoldWave, a powerfull audio editor

I'm using both GoldWave and SoundForge for audio editing, and I have Audacity installed as well. Each of them has it's own advantages and disadvantages. In Sound Forge I like reverb mor than in GoldWave, but in GoldWave Noise Reduction is easier to do while in SoundForge it's too complicated for me. Although SoundForge 11 is let's say 95% accessible, GoldWave has it's NVDA addon and all the dialogs are totally accessible even in latest 6.24 version.

Re: record voice and sound simultaniously, any good programs accept SDT?

I'm using both VAC and Virtual Recorder as well, and it took a lot of frustration out of me until I figured out how to configure and use Virtual Audio Cabel properly. Yes latency can be a problem with audio repeaters. On my system, latency must be at least 200 to get it working properly, and in that case it's not bad, but also it's not very good. It can be useful for e.g. live streaming playthrough on a radio station, since Virtual Recorder isn't ment for that.

In fact you can make it easy by typing the following path into the run dialog or by making a shortcut to it.The path is:c:\windows\syswow64\speech\speechux\sapi.cplIf you have X64 system, the speech properties in control panel will show you only those voices that are 64-bit. For showing both X86 and X64 voices, you have to use the path above.

Re: Windows 10 Anniversary Update Accessibility

I am Windows insider, so I'm using the new official update already. With NVDA it works pretty decent, the only issue is user account control dialog not reading if set to 33%, and toast notifications not beeing spoken automatically but this issue is currently beeing worked on. You will get some improvements for Win10 and some Win10 apps if you additionally install Win10 Essentials addon by Joseph Lee.I'm using command prompt as a developer a lot, and I don't have any serious problems with it.Microsoft Edge is still not for daily usage. Windows 10 Mail is accessible and usable. However, they recommend NVDA 2016.3 or later for this new Win10 update, so probably people using stable version of NVDA shouldn't upgrade immediately. But 2016.3 update of NVDA is very close anyway.

Re: question about coffie

Well I drink coffee for probably 15 or 14 years (now I'm 29) and I'm coffee dependent. I think the only bad thing is that coffee to some people also brings dependency like cigarets, alcohole and drugs do, since I can't function properly as well until I drink my cup of coffee after I wake up in the morning. The morning coffee is the most important for me and that's the first thing that I must take before doing anything else. Additionally, I can drink coffee even in the late evening, and after that I can sleep normally with no problem! That's why my friends were laughing at us when me and my friend had drank coffee on 11 PM on vacation. One coffee aday is mainly enough for me, but usually I drink two aday, and sometimes even three (it all depends on situation).

Re: Buying Eloquence

I've purchased Eloquence directly from Code Factory. However, now I'm not sure if this was a good idea, due to the following facts.1. As a Windows 10 insider on a fast ring, I'm upgrading very often. Unfortunately, upgrades usually change your computer ID, and activation depends on it. That means if your computer upgrades automatically, and you forgot to deactivate, you will lose one activation. That happened to me fiew times, and I got activation reset once from Code Factory though, but it happened to me again when computer upgraded automatically without my knowledge. Thus I had to change settings so I can manually approve the update, so I can deactivate before upgrading. They told me like: You know, we warn users to deactivate before upgrading the os. How could I know that one insider build upgrade would change my computer ID? And what's even worse, I got upgraded without my knowledge.2. Code Factory didn't give you the option to check remain
ing activation count. Thus, I even don't know how many activations I have left, though I assume I have 2.Computer ID based license is in fact a bad idea. I also have a legal copy of Vocalizer for NVDA, but there I can check my remaining activations and I'll not lose any of them after upgrading the os. So, my advice is, think twice before buying it.

Re: A Fun Little Addon for NVDA

Hi slender,Thanks for posting the addon link. In fact I was thinking should I post it here myself or not.I'm glad that Tone Master addon has now passed all basic reviewing and that it's now also available on NVDA Addons website under stable addons section. So You can get it here as well: http://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/t … er.en.htmlAs the author of this addon, I have to talk about fiew things that I forgot to mention in a documentation.1. How addon plays tone sequences will unfortunately also depend on your sound card and PC performance. I hope it will work well for most of You.2. Before uninstalling or reinstalling the addon, you should backup your tdf files, otherwise they'll be lost. I'll fix this for the next update. Also, version 2.0 will contain more interesting features, such as support for note names, repeat sections, tone sequence looping, as well as integrated tone editor. Some people suggested me to implement feature for exporting tone data into audio file, or having multichannel tones, but I'm afraid this is not possible at this time. You can post other suggestions for the addon on my Twitter @hrvix or on the NVDA addons mailing list. Everything that I can implement, I will gladly do it.And, keep sharing your .tdf files here, I'd be glad to here some work created by You with my addon.

A technical problem, recording my phone's output

Hello all,So, I want to record my phone's sound output on my PC. I've connected my phone to the PC's line-in port by using the appropriate line-in cabel, and I can here the sound output from the phone in my PC speakers, however, the output stereo for some reason is reversed, meaning everything that should be heard on the left is heard on the right, and everything that should be heard on the right is heard on the left. I thought that it may be the problem with my phone, so I've tried with connecting my iPod with the same results. When I tried with my external sound card, I'm getting mono output only, so I have to use my internal sound card for that. And yes, my speakers are positioned properly, since I don't have any problems with my PC sound output in general. I googled and haven't found anything that describes my problem, so I hope that someone will be able to give me some solution. My internal sound card is Realteck HD audio, and I have o
nly one line-in port on the back panel of my PC. On my external Creative SB X-FI 5.1 Pro sound card, the same port is used for both mike and line-in.

I was personally more and more disappointed with direction in wich JFW is going, especially with issues such as video intercept install failure, crashing of certain SAPI5 synthesizers and problems with some localized variants of Microsoft Office, and I'm standing behind my words, since that was my experience with JFW. I'm glad if people have enough money to pay for JFW and later upgrades, but in my case, no thanks!

I'm currently using OBS for gameplay recordings. I've tried Total Recorder, but the problem was that my computer audio was softer than with OBS even at maximum volume configured. I'm not sure if that's due to TR or my sound card. This leads me to a conclusion that OBS is better for both mick and audio capturing (at least in my case), although it can record in video formats only. SoundTap, well, I've tried the last version, and It's horible. I heard that earlier versions were better.

Re: Accessible youtube playlist or channel downloader, please

Hello,Since I am the author of the Youtube-DL NVDA-addon, I had to answer when I found this thread. I wrote this addon to make my use of Youtube-DL simpler, since it's also my favorite video downloader. I wanted to improve this addon by adding more and more of Youtube-DL's features, however, a fiew annoying bugs are blocking me for continuing development of this addon. These are:1. Download will fail sometimes for unknown reason to me, and the only way to hopefully fix it is restarting NVDA.2. I cannot find a function inside The Youtube-DL Python module to cancel downloading. This means that if you accidentaly put an hour long video to download, you must either wait for it to finish or restart NVDA. So, I can't implement a valid cancel download function. It seams that Youtube-DL itself can only be aborted by closing the console window. OK, it is open source, so I can add my own cancel function, but in this case I'll have to merge my code with
Youtube-DL's code every time when a new version arrives, and Youtube-DL is updated very often.Having said that, my development of this addon will pause for a little, unless someone has an idea for fixing that. In that case, I can grant the commit rights on my bitbucket repository where I'm hosting the code for addon.
