Can i somehow reload the window to get it back?You're saying when you flip a wooden nickle, the shop tab doesn't show up? That's odd. Is it not accessible when you use the access key? (ALT+SHIFT+T in firefox, I think just ALT+T in chrome) I'll try to figure out why its doing that, but in the mean time you can try going to the Area tab (access key R) if the merchant is still there, you can click on them to go into the shop tab. If the shop tab somehow disappears, that should bring it back. Are you sure you're not dismissing the merchant somehow?

If you are playing locally dont forget to redownload the file. If you are playing on the website, you'll probably need to do a hard refresh ctrl+f5 to make sure you have the updated code. Your browser saves the webpage and just runs the cached version when it loads. One of the downsides to doing a fully website based game.edit: I added some meta tags to the html to help with this, hopefully most people wont have to hard refresh as much to get the updated content. After hard refreshing this last update, that is.

I found the explore button was still available when you retire, I disabled that. I've added a slight difficulty ramp based on scene number and reduced the amount of invincibility that ubertranks give you.

Previous to one of the recent updates, the shop tab replaced the events tab when you summed a merchant, and when you closed it they swapped back to normal. But because sighted players didn't have a text-based way to get help data on shop items, I changed it. But it slipped my mind that the quick keys needed to be updated. I'll try to get it fixed and release an update sometime this week.

there seems to be a problem where after you close the merchant window, the access key for the events tab changes to alt+w which means you can't hit anything to get to it, since that is already assigned to the pack tab. @apostolosm7, @warcat, @firefly82Each time you start the game you are beginning a new game. Only saves attributes from previous games carry over. It is not a typical RPG where all of your equipment and stats are saved. It is part rogue-like with some idle game elements. When you eat prestige foods, your prestige bonuses go up and eating a humble pie will in essence save your game. But only the prestige bonuses from prestige foods (like pricey spice or funny hunny) will persist to your next game. The other things that save are your bonuses from achievements and bestiary entries as well as any heirloom gear you collect.

If you press new game it just starts a new game, not the saved one. If I’m not doing something wrong and this is actually the case it is really really Sad because this is like the only thing That I Found in accessible. Otherwise the game works great. On the iPhone that is beyond hope that the Dev fix this

I eat the humble pie and I'm told I'll get 1 pack size and 2 energy or whatever, but then once I hit new game its the same. I've checked, and the save is in the text box meant for it, so It's definitely doing something, I just think I am starting the game wrong.

The autumn update is out!There is a new autumn forest zone that is slightly Halloween-themed, it will be in effect until December 1st.A new Harvester enchantment that gives you a chance that enemies will drop more food.A Harvest Cider consumable that gives your character a 'courage boost', doubling their damage, but disallowing them from running away.In the new zone, enemies will drop candy, collect as much as you can, when you leave the zone you will get a small xp boost based on the candy you collected.There is also a new Decay zone effect that reduces your damage, the longer you stay in the zone. As with the other seasonal event effects, the Temporal Chicken pet will reduce these effects.As always, I have to give the normal bug disclaimer. However, since this update didn't do anything ground breaking, and its just content, they should be pretty minimal. A new disclaimer though, this will be the last event that I do for a while. They are reoccurring though, so the winter wonderland will pop up in December and so forth with the other seasons. Also, this will probably be the last new zone for a while. I will concentrate on adding new game features, different things to encounter in the zones, refactoring some of the code that drives the zones, because its getting to be a lot to manage with 10 different zones now. I want to build in a system for zone variants or sub-zones, as well as zone-specific features to encounter, like interactable items or maybe even puzzles, not sure just yet.In any case, the development on this game will likely slow down a bit, I'll still be available for bug fixes, but my priorities will be on new development until I have inspiration to put more content here.

If you could try a different browser, especially one you dont normally use, that might help. Because if it works in another browser, I think the issue is your settings. You may have some plugins that are blocking certain things, or a security setting stopping cookies. If it works in a new browser with default settings, that is the problem for sure and we can try to figure out which setting is blocking it. If it still doesn't work then I'm not sure because I can't replicate the issue and nobody else seems to be having it.

@Haramir yes there is definintley something wrong here. This save string does not include any achievements or prestige data, only bestiary data. Oh... do you by chance have cookies disabled? Achievements and prestige data are stored in cookies, if you have those disabled, or have them blocked some how, it will not work. Bestiary data is saved in the browsers local web storage, that's why its coming through and not the other stuff.Are you playing with a downloaded version of the game? or playing on the website? Sometimes local cookies get confused and there really isn't a good way to fix it except clearing all of your cookies.I'm working on getting all of the save data moved over to local web storage as its much easier to work with and now its pretty much compatible on all major browsers.@PatrykK Yes, you can download the game, but its a website, so it's a little weird to use locally. If you are on an actual computer and not a phone, its fairly easy you can go here: http://games.buddywagner.com/InfiniCrawl right click and download the InfiniCrawl.html file, save it locally on your computer, then just open it in a browser. If you are on a phone, there is no easy or good way to run it locally at the moment. I do intend on putting in the necessary hooks to run it locally as a native app, it just isn't there yet. So yes, it is possible to download the game, but there are some issues. Like I mentioned to Haramir above, local cookies can be problematic, if you have more than one local website running, they can conflict. Also, when you download the new version, if I've made any changes to the save format, its likely you'll need to clear cookies and you may lose data.

@Haramir, when i loaded your save data, bought a few prestige items, then ate a humble pie, i started over and the prestige bonuses persisted in the new game. What exactly is happening for you when you eat a humble pie? The only thing that should happen is any elemental bonuses from the other prestige items you ate in that run will be saved and any gems you got would convert into starting experience. Your gear and progress are not saved with a humble pie. I see in your save data that there is no prestige experience, which is odd considering how many entries you have in the bestiary. But that is possible if you kept starting over new runs without prestiging.If you could, do another run, get to the point where you can afford at least one prestige item (like Pricey Spice, Macho Nachos, Funny Hunny, etc.), make sure you have beat at least 1 or 2 bosses, then buy a Humble Pie. Eat it, then start a new run and then paste your new diagnostics string here. The diagnostics string contains any _javascript_ errors you might have got, but it will only show it for that current page load. If you've refreshed the page or closed the browser since then, it wont catch those older errors.Oh, also, you arent using an old saved copy of the game right? If so you should download a new copy from the website.

Do you mean you are trying to load a save string from another device onto a new device? If so when you are pasting the string in the box make sure you have selected the entire string, and make sure you click import afterwards.

I think I just got lucky the second time. Sometimes it is really easy, but especially in environments that damage health while exploring and searching, it can be much more difficult. I think there's a good balance.

I've increased the drop rate of eggs by 15x what it was. Hopefully that helps. Eggs wont drop if you already have one or if you have a pet already so having them be less rare isn't really an issue.Out of curiosity how long did it take to retired the second time after you already retired once? Did it go by really quickly? I'm thinking there is something wrong because I hadn't anticipated people being able to retire so many times so quickly.

You may get unlucky sometimes but you should be able to get enough gear through searching to keep you afloat.On a side note, I think I've fixed the button reading issue as well. I've got the experience heading fixed. Not sure what happened to it, that part of the code was totally gone. I don't remember what it said before but now it tells you how much xp to next level and also what the percentage is. Still working on the other stuff.

I'll take a look at the button thing, that is weird. But I always use the b key in NVDA also to go between buttons, I never noticed this. I wonder how long it has been doing this?The visual display on the xp to level looks ok to me. It may be the aria label that got populated incorrectly. Probably a copy/paste error, I'll check it out.Indeed the seasonal enemies, do spill over into the regular zones. The lost cannibals are an example of this. The previous seasonal events had similar things like Sentient Invasive Plants for the spring event and Stray Reindeer for the winter event.I didn't notice the enemies spilling over into the first scene of the next zone though. That is weird. I'll check on that as well.When you are ambushed during a rest, you should have to hit rest again to keep going, depending on when you were interrupted during the rest, the amount you would have healed before the ambush would vary. But, you should only need to hit the rest button one time after that to keep resting. Unless of course you were ambushed again. I'll see if I can recreate this issue and figure it out.Thanks for the bug reports everyone I'll get on them as soon as I can

Wow, great new update, albeit it seems dropping the difficulty has also made my save from hard sort of invincible, being as I was on scene 350 and still taking about two damage from each attack with over 2000 hp . Still, since my max scene is 538 and my max level is 47, I should be able to retire soon and see those new companions which sound cool. At the moment I'm really liking the new changes, especially the bestiary and new weapon types, it's nice to be able to play the game again and be surprised by new pieces of armour and effects, especially those duel elemental effects.Personally, I have no problem with seasonal event zones cropping up, especially if they're available all year round with a special companion, indeed as I've said before, the more zones and environment types the better I'd be pleased, actually, the summer one is an interesting one I didn't expect, and made for probably the best named enemy ever! Chocolatier fleshgraze! Wow, talk about soft centres .Now, bug time. firstly, I've noticed that instead of experience to level, the stats display simply lists energy, indeed that threw me at first. I also noticed my cursed/poisoned status wans't being read, though this might have something to do with the xp labelling issue since if I remember rightly, previously it was necessary to click on xp to learn about status effects.As to the button business, you only get the label read on two separate lines if you read down with the arrows. I usually hit b for button myself, and using that method the labels are read in their entirety, which makes me think it's possibly a formatting or pagination issue somewhere. Just for kicks I gave it a try in Microsoft Edge, and it did the same thing, so it's probably not chrome specific.I also noticed that for some odd reason, the first scene of each knew zone featured a monster from the old zone not from the new zone, so I was fighting an automaton on the first scene of the summer feast, and an animate dessert in the maze which was sort of amusing. I also noticed cannibals everywhere, though amusingly enough when encountering them outside the summer feast, they were lost cannibals, though actually if sticking one seasonal monster in regular zones is going to be a thing, that sounds rather fun (I look forward to smacking in evil snowmen and mad elves in the temple .I also noticed that once I'd been attacked whilst resting, I still seemed to have to hit rest multiple times, recovering 11-15 points each to get to max energy, though I'll need to try the game again to confirm this as I was just getting used to how the new ambush mechanic worked and when I was more/less likely to get attacked.As I said though, amazing update, and I look forward to exploring more of it, especially getting to retirement. Thanks again for the fantastic work you put into this game.

It required huge rewrites and nearly every system in the game was touched on some level. Here are the major changes:New Summer event active from now until August including a new zone with zone-specific enchantment, consumable item and zone effect. Also, I've already got the fall event mostly planned out and ready to go. After fall, there will be very few, if any special events. I don't want to turn this into a crazy event game to the point where its annoying. Also once you retire you can get a pet that allows you to time warp into seasonal events, so that you dont have to wait all year to get the seasonal achievements.I've lowered the retirement level to 50 and changed the way retirement works, subtly. When you retire, you will now get a 5% xp bonus and increased starting level to new characters which persists through retirements and stacks up. For example, after you retire your 5th time you would start at level 6 (5 extra levels), and get a +25% xp bonus. Enemies also get a little boost in difficulty and you will start to see new special attacks from enemies after your first retirement. Your level limit also goes up by 1 level per retirement. But you'll always have a 50 level span. So for instance, your second retirement will be at level 52, third at 53 etc. The last retirement will be at level 100 and as of right now that is effectively the end of the game. You can still go on forever, but you will no longer encounter new enemies after level 100 (until I expand, if I ever do, this is quite a lot of game content so far that a lot of people probably will not ever get to).I am going to try to use these retirement breakpoints to add new content to the game. So for instance, right now, you must retire in order to get access to pets. The next time I release new content it will be behind the second retirement barrier and so on. There will still be new content added for everyone, but new game features that increase your character's strength will be behind retirement barriers. And it might not be single retirements, after the 3rd I might jump to 5 retires etc. we'll see.I've removed the difficulty levels. Everyone will be playing in the same difficulty now. The whole concept of difficulty was introduced originally so that I didnt have to balance things and if the game was too hard you could just turn it down. Then it morphed into playing on easy until you felt like you could move up, but with no real incentive to do so. Now everyone is effectively on 'hard' all of the time. To combat this, you begin the game with starting gear to help you get over the first few bosses. After that you're on your own. There will be unlucky runs where you don't get very far, and the first part of the game might be a little tricky sometimes. Further tweaking may be necessary, we'll see.Because of the difficulty change, I've also eliminated the fake "too long in this prestige" enemy buff that artificially increased enemy difficulty if you've stayed in the same run for a large number of scenes. This release in particular has a lot of big changes. They might seem like small changes in the end, but in the code they've required rewriting huge sections. I've been trying to get better about releasing it with fewer bugs and more testing, so that's also contributing to a longer release cycle. But it shouldn't be too long.

I am personally generally happy to wait until things are ready to go live to try them out, since with infinicrawl being generally a progressive game, I'd find it mildly annoying to progress in the dev version, then have that progress not workable in the live version, I'm also happy to wait and see features when they're at least ready for public consumption, since it's not as if you don't tweak the live version as well from time to time too.That being said, anything you specifically want me to have a look at I'd be glad to help. As regards enchantments, that sounds good, as I said, the more the merrier. For special attacks, it depends upon how often they're likely to succeed. I always personally find it a little bit unfair in games if an enemy is hitting me with a constant special attack I can do nothing about, especially if otherwise I'm murdering the enemy quite successfully with the standard combat.If special attacks are to have a miss or fumble chance, then obviously it doesn't matter if they activate a little more often, indeed I'm guessing they'll be activating more frequently as a player's scene count rises. It might even be nice if elemental weaknesses came into special attacks somewhere, EG if a player's watery equipment created too much dampness in the air for a dragon to get a good fire going, which would also make those elemental weakness zones on later levels far more dangerous, though I don't know how detailed you've got in terms of the properties of the various attacks. The only thing I do hope, is that you don't make special attack frequency depend upon luck, since at the moment luck is already imho one of the most useful stats in the game, what with it providing both dodge chance and! improved loot.

Question: If some enemies had special attacks, how often could they use them without it becoming annoying?For instance, you are fighting a dragon, obviously if it did a massive fire breath attack each turn, that would be ridiculous. But if it were every 3 or 4 turns, maybe that's fine? These attacks might be in addition to their normal attack, maybe not. I'll look forward to seeing pets when the changes come into play, since I suspect I won't reach over level 100 by the time   the dev version is ready to go live, but I should be getting to level 50 relatively soon, I definitely like the idea of something which requires food management, though I know that is also a change in the works. Multi element gear would definitely be fun I think, since as I said, at the moment my priorities are pretty fixed, and  always nicer to have a more interesting choice in a game with so much gear around. For suffixes, to be honest, I rather like the way in the game at the moment it's possible to both have spiked weapons and weapons of retribution with similar enchantments, or a flaming shield and shield of the flame. The hole D standard adjective object of noun has been rather played out, imho best to just mix things up with more interesting effects and effect names, heck you could  include materials or weapon descriptors as part of these, for example temples could contain, scarab, sungod or holy gold items which both increased fire and looting, or maybe phoenix weapons with healing and fire enchantments.

Pets are unlocked after retiring your first time. After that you will find special eggs while exploring. If you keep them in your inventory for a certain amount of time, they will hatch. You can only have 1 egg or pet with you at a time. In order to switch to a new pet you have to dismiss the old one and find and hatch a new egg.Pets consume food and each have an ability you can trigger by feeding it more food. Each pet also has a passive ability that reduces the severity of zone effects. Pets are managed through a new Companion tab.So for example you might hatch a pet that watches out for you, reducing the chance of triggering a trap. Each egg has a descriptive color and/or pattern, and the same pet will hatch from that egg. For instance, a blue speckled egg will always hatch the same pet.

Hey just wanted to clarify. The retirement level was dropped to 50 in the dev version, which hasn't been released yet. So currently, its still at level 100 in the live version. Also, after the limit gets dropped to 50, you'll only get Pets, not Pets and Artifacts like the current release says. I had to push them off cause they were not really working the way I wanted. So they'll probably be after the 2nd retirement to give me time to tweak it. The way they will work though is you'll find random maps while exploring. You can use these maps to enter unique dungeons with special bosses. Map bosses will drop artifacts. Artifacts are special equipment that will have unique enchantments and their level is based on how many times you've found that artifact. These levels persist through prestiges.I've considered making gear with multiple enchantments. That might be something that comes later, not sure how that will upset the balance of things but I'll toy with it. The way I thought of doing split enchantments was with a prefix and suffix, such as Fiery Dagger of Water or something like that, and the bonus would just be +.5 to each instead of +1 to one element. But I like the idea of just making hybrid enchantments instead like magma being earth+fire. That way I don't have to change the whole enchantment system.

Just had another totally awesome game, made it to scene 538 on hard, and topped character level 47, this means I should be seeing the new artefacts and such in the next few prestieges which should be cool. I was considering trying for a bit higher, but I was on my last uba trank so decided not to push my luck, and yee gods,  enemy damage can get crazy after zone 450! I saw even normal enemies doing 1k damage, and since once I finished my max hp was about 2100, I decided not to tempt fate. One thing which did occur to me this time around, is it would be cool if there was gear with multi elemental bonuses. At the moment, I've sort of got a set pattern of equipping priorities. Luck comes first, then air/chaos (anything to avoid taking damage), then fire and armour, then leach and poison, then water, with retribution at the bottom (any effect that only kicks in when your hit and doesn't do enough damage just isn't helpful). Looting percentage is awesome at lower scene numbers when I can essentially give up having an armour effect in return for more gold, but later on drops drastically in priority as effects become needed, likewise I will tend to add more priority to armour that can have full effect and isn't being hit by an area effect on the zone. Either way, I'm essentially in a situation now where I pretty much just have my priorities set and play accordingly. it'd be awesome to shake this up a bit. I know it is going to be somewhat when ranged weapons and/or different classes and weapon uses come into play, but I was thinking here more about armour. Firstly, it'd be really cool if armour could have multiple elemental effects, thus making prioritising more interesting. For example magma or volcanic gear could have both earth and fire effects, whilst mudslide or marsh gear could have water and earth, lightning gear have air and fire, sandstorm gear have earth and air, cloud or mist gear have air and water, and steam or smoke gear have water and fire. obviously, mixed elements gear would have the disadvantage of having halved bonuses, however they'd also have the advantage of boosting two stats instead of one, which could definitely come in handy, EG having bonuses for air and fire, so you can gain both smaller bonuses  dodge and damage on the same item, rather than one or the other. I'd also love to  suffixes and materials make it into the game, especailly if we're going to see crafting, since it's always fun when you find a carved wooden mallet of the flame, or a knight's watery bronze longsword, though since manifestly different gear will need to be made of different materials, Eg I could understand if this is waiting for eventual weapon specialties and crafting.

As I remember, I was having to hammer the potion button 20 or so times, though generally I'd just pound away until it became disabled. usually I'd not take chances, especially with strong bosses, so if I saw I was halfway down health wise I'd do potions, that being said, since I always tend to concentrate on luck, air and chaotic gear first, even over fire gear, my strategy tends to revolve around not being hit. I don't know how many potions I had exactly, but it was certainly several thousand, heck in the rather less extreme game I played the other day when I just got to scene 380 or so (though that more because Mrs. Dark needed me than because things were getting hard), I had over 2000 potions, so goodness knows how many I had by scene 500 or so.I like the condensing idea though, again more tactics are always nice. You could even have some flavourful descriptions added to condensed potions once you create them. Indeed, one thing I always liked in my experiment with Angband (the only roguelike I've ever been able to play thanks to large graphic tyles and screen reader compatibility), I always liked the way potions were called things like the bubling potion, the red stinky potion, the viscous potion, the glittering violet potion etc.

So how many potions did you have at that point? I like your idea of making the potion button just use enough potions to heal you up, but I'm working on something a little more tactical. The merchant will have the ability to 'condense' your current potions, making them more powerful. For instance, you trade half your potions for a permanent upgrade to your potion power for the rest of the run. You can do this multiple times, but only once each merchant. However, this also makes potions more rare. Effectively, just reducing the number of potions you need. All other things the same, this changes nothing other than the number of times you need to click the button. As you'll find less potions, but need less. However, this is offset by your luck and water bonuses. So the number of potions you find, while being reduced, is then increased now by your luck bonus. And the amount you heal is multiplied by this potion strength, as well as your water bonus. So if you choose the right time to condense, and have enough water and luck, you should create very powerful potions. But I need to balance the cost of condensing. SO you said you were healing 50ish each potion and healing 1000 damage total, so you had around 20 potions? or you had to do that 20 potion gulp multiple times in a fight? In total how many potions do you think you had stockpiled?

Okay, I just had a truly godly game on hardd. i began at scene 85 at level 30, and finished at scene 504 (yes 504), at level 40! By the end a normal enemy was doing over 1100 a hit, it took judicious use of potions, and judicious use of ubatranks and firebombs for the bosses, indeed when I eat humble pie these days tends to be dictated by how many ubatranks I have.Only one thing though. By the finish potions were doing sort of 50 points of healing each, and yet I'd have to be healing over 1000 health which was a bit bonkers. I know we've discussed extra ideas for healing potions, but in the mean time, any chance of setting so that using the "potion" button automatically uses enough potions to get you back to full health without you having to hammer away?Also, the potion related achievements sort of got a bit crazy towards the end there too.

Hi. I'm afraid I'm less a fan of a simple gem reduction for lower difficulties. Since As the game is infinitely long, a player could always just get further on lower difficulties to compensate, since even at a reduction getting to scene 400 on medium would still be more lucrative than 300 on hard, quite apart from the fact that even at reduced effectiveness, a player would still be able to see all the environments, creatures and weapons at lower levels. If there was to be a change in experience or gem gains or the like, it would probably have to be in a way the scene scaling modifier was applied at lower difficulties, to make sure that lower scene counts were more effective on hard than on medium or normal, though I'd also suggest limiting some things appearing on medium or easy just to give players some rewards in terms of new creatures/environments/item types to see. If a scene cap for lower difficulties isn't possible, how about a level cap instead? So for instance when a player gets to 15 on easy or 25 or 30 on normal they're given a free humble pie and told to go back to the start, perhaps with one of the knight/squire messages I mentioned earlier.

Easy is 50% power, Medium is 75% and Hard is the full 100% power. I could do the same thing for equipment, making equipment bonuses match those percentages. Also maybe altering gem drops based on those as well.

Hi. Hurrah! That definitely did the job, it obviously was the logs not being deleted that was the problem. I just played to scene 320, and no slowdown at all, indeed I only took the humble pie since I need to go off and have some grub with my good lady . Thanks for spending the time on the fix, since I admit that slowdown really was a bit of a painus in the anus. Btw, yee gods medium difficulty is feeble! Yeah, deleting the logs is exactly what it does now. It always was supposed to do that, but there was a bug. You may be using a cached version. Try doing a hard refresh on the page, CTRL + F5, to make sure that you are getting the newest version, not a cached page. I'll check your string out and see if I can find any issues. Also that gives me a good idea for that diagnostic, to add the game version to it, so  I can see which version people are running.

Hmmm, this is odd, I'm afraid I am still getting slowdown, note that I'm playing the game onn http://docs.buddywagner.com/games/Infin … Crawl.html rather than on Itch.io.Weirdly enough though, when I go down to the bottom of the page and hit the buttons to reload the log, I still see my starting log entries which is odd if they're supposed to be truncated. I also notice the slowdown does not happen when I use the reload graphics, only when new information is actually written to the log itself, I wonder if perhaps deleting older parts of the log might do the trick? Indeed for me I rarely look more than about five or six actions back anyhow, and only then when several things happen at once, indeed you could ask players how much of the log they want kept in the option settings.Anyway, I hope the problem is fixable since it does make getting to higher scene numbers a pest at the moment, I definitely was still breezing through enemies at that point (at least on medium), and could've happily continued but for the slowdown. Okay, just double checked, and after prestieging with the humble pie, if I carry on playing the same game, the slowdown is still rearing it's uggly head, so it's definitely something to do with lots of log text I think.
