scorpion's spear sound was the same until mk4. it was something totally different there, but the original sound returned in deadly alliance, and it stayed that way until mk vs dc universe, where it was once again changed. it has changed sounds for each game after that. at least it sounds that way. also mk1 had a really weird sound for the spear depending on the port. same with mk2 as someone said already.

So I'm currently on a mobile so don't have the links handy, but there's been quite a bit going on with this game.Jade and Johnny Cage have been officially anounced; both of which look far more appearling both in terms of gameplay options and personality than ever.  For example I've never been interested in Jade, but I think she might be my first character at this point.  More importantly for us, remember the enhanced move commands  were going to be different for each character, thereby being a nightmare for us?  Well that's no longer the case, you simply press r1 or right bumper during or after the move hits.  Thank goodness.

The hit sounds themselves are good, and would've been better if they were used in stereo. They lent more to the martial arts theme that the series has always been based on, rather than the hollywood style design that they are going for now which I don't like. Also, Scorpion's spear sound was different in MK 4. It came back with a slight varation in all three of the 3d titles. And yes, voices and the like were very eneric... but that didn't change until deception. I can tell who is fighting who in Deception, which is when they started giving most characters individual voices, only a few had identical ones. Bottom line, I personally think those sounds were better than the ones now. I could think of some dramatic martial arts fight sequences that could be done using those sounds.

Eh the 3d mk sounds felt too generic to me, the characters didn't even habe their own voices. Of course men sounded like men, women sounded like women, robots sounded like robots and bosses had their own voices but thats it. Hitting sounds were generic as they came and it wasn't eben in stereo. I think that if no one was using specials in a deception match, it would be difficult to tell who was who if you started watching mid fight. My fav mk sounds sets are from 2 and 3, and 9 and x. Also, scorpion's spear sound was the same from 2 through armageddon, not sure about mk bs dc because I neber played it, but I noticed a difference in mk 9 and now you could hear it flying towards you. Also the spear sound for mk 2 is different depending on which port you heard it on.

Scorpion's spear hasn't sounded good sincethey took out the original sound that was used in MK 2. To date, still the best Mk imo. 9 and 10 were ok, but there was something about that old sound that was just awesome. And I agree with Lirin. This game definitely doesn't sound great... though I personally haven't liked MK hit sounds since MK 9. My favourite set of sounds was from the 3d K games; Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon. They were horrible games mechanics wise and design wise, but the sounds... they would still be good today.

I'm very interested to see how this all plays out when we get our hands on it.  couple of things I noticed:  meter sounds are back, and seem to be quite prevalent and loud, which is nice.  Also with OCR, I am sure customisation will be doable.  It is in injustice 2, and this game looks to be a lot less grindy and reliant on getting the right gear.  In terms of customising moves, assuming there is an order to them when making your own variation, I'm more than happy to write that up for ps4 users who can't OCR stuff.  It still amazes me how many games and parts of games that opens up by the way.

@aaronYeah, my feelings exactly. Like part of me likes it, but another part is just kinda skeptical until it actually gets here.Oh, and something else I forgot to mention... breakers are apparently gone, combos are shorter. Your meter is now split into 2 sections, offensive and defensive moves. Not quite sure what you can use it for yet, presumably parries take part of your defensive meter, and meter burning uses offense? They're not like traditional FG meters, they just recharge over time which means retreating can actually reward you more than fighting at times. Overall, so far what I've heard from Max's crew seems to indicate that it's an MK game that plays competitively kinda like Street Fighter. But not sure how accurate that actually is, since I'm a filthy casual for the most part.

Quick details from Maximilian's stream...Crushing blows can stack, meaning possible touch of death combos because they do so much damage.You can change input buffer time.There is now a parry mechanic.Meter burning with the block button is gone, each move has it's own meter burn command. Not sure if I like that one.Tapping up quickly results in a short hop instead of a normal jump.These mechanic changes are definitely more interesting, but we'll have to see how they actually work out while playing in a few months.

The crushing blow is gonna change the outcome of the whole match pretty much. They're basically supers from Injustice, which is the same as X-rays. Pretty powerful but i'm all for the cinematic stuff during matches. I find SF matches boring on the presentation front.

So, I watched the live stream this afternnon, and here are my thoughts.1: Baraka and Skarlet are back! That's amazing!2: X-Ray's aren't a thing anymore. It's now called Fatal Blow, and it sounds more like super moves from Injustice. Not sure if I like it, sounded pretty overpowered from the gameplay.3: The gear system, from what I heard, is not, at all, as intensive as Injustice 2. Sure, you can customize it, but it's super cosmetic rather than stat based. It might change your attacks ever so slightly, but instead of 5 gear slots there's now 3, so even now you don't have to worry about all that. And, if my friend was correct, you have 5 base variations to play with.Final Thoughts: I'm optimistic. It's new, it's entertaining, and I can't wait for the game. It remains to be seen how much the gear really effects stuff, but it doesn't seem like it will be as inaccessible as we all think. Side note, The sounds for full meters are back. That was in the gameplay I heard.I'm excited!

I mean to be fair to Injustice 2, the lootboxes were only earnable in game as far as I know, you couldn't directly buy either credits or mother boxes, so really it was just grindy as hell, they weren't charging you for it.

But, my friend, what i'm really am going to bet on is that the mother boxes and crates and all that horrible lootbox systems that we saw in injustice 2 are going to make way  into mk 11. I'm pretty sure that all really put a good taste in their mouths and they can't wait to make some good money with MK and lootboxes

The MK theme that people know is from the movies. Nothing to do with the game itself... true that the trailer music is definitely not the type of music in the games though. But frankly, MK's music has been lacklustre since MK Vs. DCU. MK 9 had a couple of decent tracks, but only a couple. Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 stil had the best soundtracks imo. And MK Deception, for all that it sucked as a fighting game, definitely had some decent music.

The only thing that really bugs me about this game is there will probably be more micro transaction crap to deal with, kombat pack anybody? I don't mind shelling out for a game, but god i miss the days of unlocking the disk by playing the game. and beating it to earn stuff. I'll probably preorder so i can have all the fighters, but god that business model bugs me so much.

Indestructable was a horrible song for the SF IV theme.. I'm glad they took it out in subsequent versions. lol It sounded like a song that would be played before a high school basketball game. Didn't fit at all. lol.

hi everyone...wait a second, jade does'nt appear in the trailer, the woman in the last image of it is not jade, some people especulate she could be the woman appearing in jade's mk9 ending, but jade herself doesn't appear in any way during the trailer. the only confirmed characters for now are dark raiden and scorpion.i already preordered the premium edition of mk11. but my goal for this game is... aboid spoilers... i'm gonna watch the presentation on jan 17, 2019 but after that, i'll try to not read anything until i can actually play the game.

That may be, but the characters are far from bare bones without gear. Otherwise noone would play the game competetively... I've never once used any gear loadout online and find the characters to have just as much depth as they did before. More moves doesn't equal more depth. Like I said before though, differing opinions. @38. If you play the first Injustice, then the second, it’ll look like the characters have way fewer moves to start out with in IJ2. Gear adds more of them. Or extends current ones.

I guess it's a bit too early to jump at nrs's throat but i pretty much agree with assault freak. injustice's gear system for example, is horrible. Although you could avoid it all together for competitive reasons, but still it is relevant because there are abilities in injustice 2 that you can equip and swap out, which i'm pretty sure  that aspect is coming to mk 11.

Jade? Isn't she the same  girl in mk9? If not then i think they had to or have to rename that character. Anyways. I loved mortal combat all the time. I loved mkke when I first played it and probably the most important reason was the sounds being in stereo so i could hear where i am and where my aponent is. Then i loved mkX a lot! Because they made the stereo combat system even more blind friendly so I could find out easily how far my aponent is from me. I loved mkxl because its new characters, Specially jason. God jason really kicked ass with its awesome combos.With all said about previous serees and the new character designer or whatever its called, I'm looking really really forward to new mortal combat game, and hoping for a better and longer storyline.

Actually ss6 came out for the first time here in the states on that anthology and am pretty sure that came out after 2000. And its been a long time since 6 and no sequel between then and now so snk doesn't have a lot to fall back on in that particular franchise. I am not just basing my opinion purely on those early games either. I am familiar with their other works like kof, metal slug, fatal fury, world heroes etc etc and I have owned many a title of theirs too, so I can honestly say, based on their localization record, for example that they will likely not give the chars an english voice cast for this new release. As a blind non-native japanese speaker that is something I need to take into consideration. Is it any wonder why I only spent a half hour on snk's most recent king of fighters outing on ps4? Gameplay is only part of the package, other parts include lasting value and production value and after following snk for over 12 or so years now they tend to fall a little behind in the latter category. But all of this is way off topic. What is on topic is that mk 11 isn't a weapon based fighter and samurai showdown is, so I really can't put them together like this. So maybe I'm pretty psyched about samurai showdown after all but its not as big a priority for me right now because of the reasons I listed above and I still have soul cal to keep me busy, whereas I've finished mkx, and had my fill of street fighter 5 and injustice 2, so I'm so ready for a new mk! Plus I feel closer to this cast of characters anyway. Ask me about amakusa shyro or haomaru and I'd probably only be able to give you 1 or 2 sentences on each, but I can give you an essay for scorpion and sub-0 each, not because I don't care about the other, but because their in-game bios, stories etc isn't something I can learn during the course of gameplay, which is when I am the most engaged with the characters. So I still say, mk ftw!

@34, if your priority is unlockables and stories, and not fighting mechanics, I can see why MK would be the fighting game for you. And you are basing your opinions o Samurai Shodown on the games before this one, which were released from the early 90s to the 2000s. How much do you think there was supposed to be in those games? even the first 3 MK games weren't chalk full of unlockables and story. To each their own, though. Core gameplay will always be more important to me than shiny extras that play over an average game.@36, not to sound confrontational, but you honestly think the characters in IJ 2 were bare bones without adding on any gear? That says 2 possible things to me:1. Either the game has too little substance at its core where characters are designed, and gear is required to give them substance.or2: You may not have learned the full abilities of all the charactes in the game and how they play.I am goin to go with 1 as the answer, as that sounds like what you are saying... and that explains most of the NRS titles after MK 9. The core game, if al the extras and bonuses are taken away, isn't as impressive and doesn't quite stand on its own as a pure fighting game, but this is neither good or bad. But I don't want to highjack the topic and bring too much other than some healthy skepticism, so I'll leave it at that. But MK 11 will definitely be on my list, just not at the top, if the last two NRS titles have been any example. The combat simply isn't satisfying.

So I gave some thought to this whole Custom Variations system. I on't think it's like Injustice 2 where you get a rather bare bones character to add stuff onto. I think it's really about custom character creation. The costume system is back. This is purely cosmetic. But I don't think this is a gear system repaint. And even so, I'm okay with that, because Gear wasn't really game breaking, but it made Injustice 2 pretty boring after a while to not be able to get any of it. MK11 should o pretty well in this regard, and if this game has a time travel character... it may not be too much of a stretch to say this will be the Smash Bros. Ultimate of the franchise. Think about it, with time travel, we can, 1, Save Liu Kang, 2, Make Shao Khan relevant, 3, get Baraka back finally! And 4, the most exciting: Every single guest character in the series in one shiny new DLC pack. I would love that. You can do Freddy VS Jason on Mobile, but not on the console.

Nah not as excited for samurai showdown. Don't get me wrong the games are great, the music is absofrickenlutely amazing, heck I have the anthology on psp and wii, but the unlockables for snk games are mostly eye candy and they only sometimes dub their games which makes me feel any real connection to their more classic chars. Mk ftw for its more meaningful unlockable and story. Also guys, time is rebersing. Think about that.

k guys i've read the steam page and it says that you can costumize characters and make your own, i think this means, that we cannot equip new weapons on our characters like raiden, but we can make new characters and equip them other weapons like mk armageddon.

Well, their games as Assault stated before were never accessible for us in terms of menus and gear system in Injustice 2 so I am not expecting anything new in this area. Basically what I am starting to realise is their games are turning in to something like a fighting game with more and more RPG elements and maybe not exactly RPG elements but things which are changing the gameplay drastically.This is why I love and stick to the traditional fighters where everything is fair and yeah assault, I am waiting for new SamSho like a crazy. lol

Noone contact them. They met a blind player at a tournament which is probably the only reason they added that feature. Nothing new has been added to accessibility ever since. They're a multimillion dollar company... it's not like you're contacting just a small team. People should remember that. Dealing with corporations and indie teams is not the same. lol

Sounds like more of the same. Gimics and the like to bolster the game... I'm with Lirin on this one. Not exactly very excited.. the new Samurai Shodown has me much more hyped, even thouh we know less about it.@21, they didn't address any accessibility issues other than to add a beep for interactables. That's litterally it.. so I can understand why people are skeptical. I am, too. They did nothin to address the accessibility in the gear system in IJ 2, which makes me think that they don't have accessible as much in mind as we might like to think. But any rate, we'll see what turns out... custom variations sounds like an attempt, like the gear system, to add shooter and rpg mechanics into a fighting game.

Earth realm won't be threatened, but at what cost? And even before injustice, we had dark raydn who corrupted himself by sacrificing himself to try to destroy Onaga, and thereafter was willing to side with evil to ensure earth's safety. So that corruption is definite. Did you hear the change in his voice when he said those things? Weather or not he comes to his sences like origin raydn is unknown, but this is definitely going to be a major plot point going forward. Also, that wasn't just shinak that he dropped, it was his head he threw at liu kang and kitana's feet. And yes, he's still alive, his eyes are open.Spoilers end.I'm surprised no one has made mention of weapons returning.

he didn't got corrupted,  i mean he did, but he  was still earth realm's defender and  after you complete the last chapter,  he goes to lukain And kitana, drops shinok's in the ground, then  says that from now on no one will threaten earth realm or something like that and that he'll defend it  and you see that shinok is still alive because he was a god and he couldn't be killed but as raiden said there were fates far more worse than death.i don't think if raiden will be the vellain, what do you know we saw shao kahn, maybe they did something like mk vs dc universe and added  dark kahn as the main villain.

Actually, thats no different from dissidia, since you could assign different attacks to different button combinations. I managed fine with patience, and that was on actual psp hardware, not a pc with ocr like you kids today have. And besides, nether realm studios are aware of and have addressed accessibility issues in the past, so I wouldn't be so negative.Also, as unfitting as the music in the trailor was, the lyrics are not out of place.

To be honest I am not really waiting for that unles it will offer something better than we know from previous two titles.Interesting what they will do about the combat system, if it will be faster, more open or like before predefined things. No, Ninja, customized character variations isn’t as bad as the gear system. Because gear imbalanced the stats of the game. I think this is more like hey, you can choose some extra variations. If you want them. Also. The game is on Switch, PS4, XBOX One and PC. I might get a Switch so I can play on the go.

Hmm... honestly I might just wait for the inevitable komplete edition this time. lol Instead of forking over god knows how much for DLC, even if it means I'll be jumping on the ship late.But I hope to hell and back if they bring back the gear system it's purely cosmetic this time... though the odds of that happening would be quite low. I'd much rather this custom variation thing just be moves you can equip, and don't have to grind out so once you memorize it, you've memorized it.
