Also, @75, I have no idea especially as it's the One and not the One S.  I believe the One will pretty much give you more issues in terms of needing sighted assistance due to the way the setup process works, but if that's what you want to go for, I'm not going to stand in your way.

You probably need to change your region, though it's something I haven't personally needed to do.  On mine it recognises my region automatically using Firefox and the latest build of NVDA.  Basically you should've been fine, why this was so complicated for you is a mystery

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Hi,So here we go. I just got done with my own little adventure.Since I'm getting the xbox one, I decided to get my xbox live membership and a few games. What should have been a 15 minutes ordeal at most turned into over 2 hours of hell.First, using firefox and NVDA, I successfully created an xbox account. Then came the fun part. Actually buying the xbox gold membership.I selected pay pal as my primary method of payment. This required a bit of  using object nav with NVDA to select pay pal button, capslock enter to click. That was fine.I then signed into pay pal. It wanted me to add an address after that.I thought that was odd, since pay pal gave it the information already, but went ahead.I realized at this point I couldn't select country. It had a bunch of states listed, but no country to change from the default US, and despite it saying enter postal code, it kept claiming my "zip" was wrong.I t
ried everything at this point. Removing cookies. Switching browsers. Screen readers.Eventually, I decided to give the mostly inaccessible microsoft edge a try. Low and behold, it worked - and I noticed that in firefox and internet explorer, I kept getting microsoft store links with en-US rather than en-ca. Edge fixed this, and I have no idea why. Anyway, when I selected pay pal, it automatically took me to a select address. I have two listed here, and I was able, with some playing around, to select the one I wanted, using narrator and NVDA together.I'm also not done, sadly.I then decided to, from there, using firefox, click games. I thought I'd order Mortal Kombat XL and killer instinct.Well.Apparently I was on the wrong site. I looked at shipping, and I even had a cart. Why in the world would I be charged $9.99 for expedited shipping? Apparently microsoft and xbox stores are two different things - and ms store was going to send me the d
isks, rather than digital downloads. So now I'm even more confused. I somehow managed to get to the microsoft xbox store and buy the games, but again I ran into the issue of the store trying to take me to the US version rather than the canadian. replacing en-US with en-CA fixed it, but it's still infuriating and I shouldn't have to do that.So seriously, where the mother f do I go to buy games on the computer? Also, iPhone seems kind of accessible, but I can't find the games with gold part on there or click on any games to buy.Any help appreciated.

Hi,So microsoft has, for black friday, the xbox one with up to $70 off, xbox live gold for it looks like 10^ off or more, and a 50 dollar promo code if I'm seeing this right. Not to mention there are a few games 30% off too.So, I'm hoping that if I actually buy it in Canada, I'll still get narrator. Can this be confirmed by anyone? By the time I factor in american exchange rate I might as well just buy it here.thanks

Hey all,At Timberwolf1991,I'm glad that I was able to assist. Definitely let us know when you get your unit. I'm sure you'll love it. I know that I do because my dj gear actually collected dust and I had to brush it off this morning. Lol!Yes, the xbox button is the famous button. Also known as the halfmoon button when it comes to the xbox1/1 s controlers. Also, once paired, you can turn on the unit with the controler. I usually just use the power button on the xbox as I know for sure that the unit is booting, but I do like using the controler at times, especially when I'm across the room haha. But, I'll definitely buy and check out killer instinct and mortal combat x when I get the chance, but in the meantime i'll read up on the games. I always loved mortal combat for the n64, but that was many years ago, and I'm sure that mortal combat x is much more cooler in this mottern day in age. But killer instinct is new to me.
As for changing my gamer tag, I actually don't know what it might be. It's either payback, or uncaged branch97. But if my tag is payback or uncaged branch97, I just left it, as that's what I may have used for the 1time change. Lol it's perfectly fine with me, I'll just be known as either payback, or uncaged branch97 haha. I should have created one before setting up the xbox but I didn't know that creating one using a computer was possible.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

A long post ahead with three games the last one has some explanations/theories.@timberwolf: here's a list of partially accessible games, that is, games that can pretty much be played, once you know menus, without sighted help, as we can train you:-Killer Instinct_Mortal Kombat X-If you want to try your hand at a music game, there's always Rock Band 4 (note that this is an expensive buy because you have to buy the rivals bundle from Amazon which comes with a guitar and the game, but I'd recommend the rivals full band bundle because you can get a microphone as well if you want to try singing) but that costs, I think $199 or something. There's a practice mode in one of the more recent update which helps with learning guitar charts. Also note, I think the full band bundle comes with a paper/card code in the box that you have to redeem to get the expansion, you could always just buy the expansion from the store but then you'd be paying n
ot only for the bundle, but for the expansion as well, and the expansion is supposed to come with the bundle. I now realize that I'm probably sounding quite confusing so I'll try to summarize.-I recommend buying the full rivals band bundle from amazon, because I don't know if they sell the original band in a box bundle anymore.-This comes with guitar, drums, microphone and the game, and I think also a paper/card code with the rivals expansion pack access on it for free.-you can actually buy the pack from the store, but instead of paying $100 for the bundle and redeeming the pack, you'd then be paying $100 plus an additional $30 or $40 for pack access. This is why I'd recommend getting sighted help to redeem the code that comes with the bundle. Also the bundle only comes with one guitar for some reason, but that's the way it's always been when starting out with Rock Band. Also you'll be set for the console generation of R
ock Band, you won't have to keep on buying guitars and stuff like that. They aren't that silly thankfully. If you do enjoy the game though you'll probably want to end up buying more songs, and that's where things will start adding up over the years. Oh sure they maybe cost $2 each but imagine that over a number of years. WHen I was playing the ps3 version, I racked up around 10 pages of downloadable song purchases with 10 songs per page, although some of these were packs so I don't know how much stuff I ended up getting. Basically, a lot. I really enjoyed it back in the day.

Hi,@djrockmasterrob: Thanks so much for that post. That answered a lot of questions - and I'm probably going to create my account here within the next little while before I get the actual xbox. Thanks Aaron for the controller description, too. I'm guessing the xbox button is what so many talk about to turn your console on and off once paired etc?Now for the fun stuff. Can we get a list of accessible (if not partially accessible) games for both the one and 360? I'd gladly help with menu guides if I can (assuming people would want to do that). I know I'd greatly appreciate it, considering I'll probably be using a pretty small computer as my main 'tv screen' at least for a while.Looking forward to this!

@67Just a couple of things:A and B are blow X and y, though B and y are slightly separated from A and X as a pair. Also, on the Xbox One S controller I have, the Xbox button isn't actually as tactile, though that could be a stylistic design choice.Other than that, I think you've basically got it all sorted, other than that in KI, you can use the DPad to do everything in KI in terms of movement and special moves.  @68I'm glad the topic has been of help.  Having not created a gamertag from scratch on a console, but registering it before I got mine in the first place.  Regardless, I'm glad you got it sorted.  Also, you can get a free gamertag change, unless of course you used that up to rectify your unintentional error in the set up process.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Hey all, first and foremost, I wish to thank Sightless Kombat for creating this topic. thank you so much!I read through 90 percent of your topic which ultimetly led to my decision to purchasing my all new xbox 1 s.At arron, that's spot on for the description of the controler. the xbox 1/xbox 1 s controler is almost identical to the xbox360 controler, but the only thing different about the 2 is the xbox button. Thanks for the layout, now I know that the lb, rb, lt and rt buttons haven't changed from the 360, as well as now knowing what the name of the center button is. I always just called it the controler on button. Lol.As for my experience with xbox, I just got an xbox 1 s and am loving it, upgrading from my handy 360 which I'll never part with My experiences were pretty good from the moment that I powered it for the first time. When i
t came to the factory OS version, my unit came with something that reminded me of a version which was very outdated. Which it probably was.The voice that I got when using narrator for the first time was vaguely similar to the serie mail voice. If Serie mail had a brother, that's what it sounded like. But after the update, the normal david voice is what I have now.But anyhow,As for setting up the xbox, it was hit and miss for me after a certain point. For example, I could sign into my wi-fi and update the unit. I could then set my languidge and timezone. However, when I got to the account screens, I couldn't understand what the xbox was asking for until I actually mannidged to finish the setup, as narrator wasn't reading the piece of the screen which told me what to type into the edit feeld.I could sign in with my microsoft account, but then it asked for some key info, which was what I couldn't read.In the end I ended up unknowin
gly entering my phone number as my full name, and my email as my username which everyone could see, which turned into the username of Uncaged Branch97, which I unfortunately can't change haha. But I was able to delete my phone number and change it to my name in the xbox settings section. So, you can definitely set up your xbox without assistants, however, you may encounter some unlabled stuff in the account piece of the setup process. You can change your name after you're finished, but it's still good to have someone standing by. Especially if you wish to create your screen name correctly. In terms of narrator,It works as expected, very related to how windows narrator works, especially if you're using a keyboard. But there is 1 major bug that I'm currently experiencing though. In the narrator options screen, when I wish to change the voice speed, narrator crashes, and I can't get it to speak until I do a full reboot of the xbox
. Apart from the bug, I also notice that there's no other options. for example, turning off the speaking of every keystroke, along with some of the other options that are found in windows narrator. I think that the option to disable the speaking of keystrokes would be very useful, as it would definitely speed up performance of narrator and the xbox, and it would be less verbose, especially when hitting tab or the d pad while navigating. When it comes to apps, I have noticed that narrator doesn't work with most apps, at least the apps that I've tryed out and wish to use daily. For example, Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and crackle tv. These are quite basic apps and should be able to work with narrator, but for the time being, no Netflix, Hulu, youtube or crackle tv, at least until microsoft adds support for apps other than the ones that are built into the xbox. However, interestingly, the vlc media player app seams to work relatively good. Interesting, but awesome, as I
can hook into my external harddrive and watch movies or tv shows. But you do need an external keyboard to get to the vlc picker hoast screen to choose your content. I haven't figured out how to get there with the xbox controller yet.Other than that, from the store to microsoft edge, narrator works well enough to get by, especially in microsoft edge. You can't read every element of the websight, for example, forum/plog posts, but you can read most links, along with the menues in edge. The store seams accessible, as I've gone ahead and purchased my first game, grand theft auto5. And when I get enough cash together, I'm going to purchase the hary potter film 8pack, which looks like it contains all extended versions of the movies, as well as the bonus content. Loving it!But as they say, I'll never look back, and I'm definitely looking forward to what microsoft has in store for the next xbox OS update.Well, think I'll go blow up s
ome stuff on GTA5.Happy xboxing times!

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Hi,I'm not really sure how I'll do with this, but I will try. This is the normal xbox one controller. In each hand. you've kind of got grips. Not really sure how to describe them.Let's start with the top.On the left you have an analogue stick, this is used for moving around in games, making characters walk in first person shooters like halo. It's near your thumb, and below that is a directional pad up, down, left and right, used for menu navigation and in Killer Instinct it can be used to make your character move.If you then go back up to the analogue stick and move to the right and up a bit, you come across a sort of panel. On this panel is a round, quite tactile button. This is called the x-box button. If you then go below this, you come across two round buttons. The one on the right is the menu/start button, and the one on the left is the view button it's used in games like Killer Instinct to taunt,, or it can do a
ll sorts of stuff I think in racing games it changes views and stuff. It's not used too often during the normal dashboard operation though. The menu button atiates pause menus or press start screens, or opens up context menus while navigating the dashboard.Moving to the right, you've got the right analogue stick near your right thumb. Then moving even more to the right, you have the face buttons. There are four of them.On the bottom, you've got a. To the right of a, you've got b. Then, moving to the left of a, you've got x. And right at the top, you've got y. These do all sorts of stuff, but a is your select/confirm button and b is your back button most of the time, when in menus.Near your index finger when holding the controller you'll also find some stuff. On the right and left hand sides, you have one pressable button called a bumper, and below that you've got a more squishy thing called a trigger that kind of presses
inwards. It sort of pushes when you use it. The triggers are used in racing games to accellerate or in fsp games to fire, but they also do other things depending on the game. These are right bumper, right trigger, left bumper and left trigger are on the other side. Then, if you start moving to the left past the right trigger, you will come across a micro USB port. This is used for charging and also syncing the controller when using it for the first time. To the left of the usb port is a small, round button which is a sync button, but I'm not really sure how it works as I just plugged my controller in and it worked first time. Once it starts working though, you can also use it as a wireless controller which is really cool. You should get notifications when the battery is low but I don't think you get one when it's charged.I hope this helps a bit. It can be a bit confusing though if you haven't seen/touched one before.

@slj: set your language and region to English but then set your location to denmark and see if that works. Location is what the store is based upon, not region, apparently.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

@timberwolf, the Canadian and US stores share the same region, collectively known as North America, so it actually doesn't matter in our cases. And I may be wrong on this, but Narrator isn't so much region dependent as language dependent... there are different options for english in the system language area, and so long as it's set to US English it should work. Region shouldn't have anything to do with it... unless I just got lucky when I tried. With region set to Europe and language set to one of the english options, it should work, but I theoretically state this... because I can't test it, not having a console.

Apologies for the double post but this is a different side of the topic.  For those asking about independent setting up of the system, if your console has the latest update, I.E. probably most Xbox One S consoles (though I can't be sure of this as when I got mine, it was running a build before non-US narrator).  Basically, just get sighted help to make sure your all updated.  Once you've got that, you should be fine once Narrator's up and running.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

@57/58Wolf's right. You can purchase the games via the Xbox.com store even if your console is in a different region.  I've done this with KI, for example, purchasing via the smartglass app in this case.  Also works for DLC.  Basically, you're right about console access, but once Danish is added to Narrator, you will be able to use your console to buy everything.  Meantime, you should be able to buy games for the Xbox store online rather than via your console.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Hi,Can't you just buy games from the denmark store on the computer and they'll transfer over to the xbox regardless of what region it's set to? Logically, that would make the most sense, as it's tied to your microsoft account and it shouldn't matter what region the game is bought in.I'm not talking about on the console itself, by the way - but my computer automatically brings me to the Canadian xbox site on the computer, so I'm assuming even if I buy the games in Canada, even if the region is set to US, I should still get the games in my ready to install tab, right? Also, one more question. What are all these different editions of games? What do they add and generally what's the best one to go for for value of money etc? I'm not sure what it all entails - with my ps2, one game usually fit all but now I'm seeing special edition, certain games with different packs attached, certain games that I have no idea what'
;s different about them etc but the prices all vary greatly. So that got me wondering. Finally, not sure if I've missed it yet but can someoen give me a little rundown on the controller and where everything is? Also curious how to go about pairing for the first time since from what I'm hearing the xbox controllers can't be plugged into it directly for wired play?Greatly appreciated!

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Hi.My Xbox has updated automatically, so I have the latest version installed. However, I have some really bad news to report:Currently, Narrator does only support a few regions and languages. That means, if you switch to a region which Narrator does not support, but you keep the language on english, Narrator stops talking. This is seriously bullshit, because the store where you purchase things, seems to be based on the region you select. So if you need to buy games from a none Narrator supported region, you need to use your console without speech. If you don't change your region on the console to the region you're in, you are simply unable to make any purchase... So, in other words, that means:Because I live in Denmark, which is an Narrator unsupported region, I'm unable to make any purchases, because I can't ad my credit card, because my console is set to the wrong region. If I change the console to my region and keep the language on english,
Narrator will stop working. It seems like the xbox.com website is set to the region your console is set to.I really hope I'm wrong regarding to this, but it seems like I'm unable to buy anything until Microsoft hopefully will fix this in the next big update to the XBox. Well, it's nice to have an accessible console, but I can't buy any games for it. Lol...

Well here's the thing. You can actually sign up for free, buy the games you want now, and then when you get your console they will be in "my games and apps" on the ready to install tab. Once you get your console and have installed the games, you should be able to redeem the below digital code from Amazon. This is a 12 month, xbox live gold membership that activates multiplayer, but it costs quite a bit. I have heard from Sightless that it is supported in French and Spanish though, I was also given a couple of languages but I forgot. Also, to add a bit of insult to injury, the xbox system versions page isn't even listing the latest update with clubs and such right now, so I can't even view any sort o changelog to see if Narrator is mentioned. Also, I won't be expanding my set until I've at least taken the time to beat campaign mode.and finally, the dongal for my headset, which I think is the most important thing.I play Rock Band 4 and Killer INstinct way more than Lego Dimensions, because I play on my console without sighted help a lot. I also got Halo 5 for quite cheap and me and Sightless play in forge mode sometimes, but it takes up 80 gb!I should give you a heads up, you have to install every game even if it's a disc-based thing, so if you have 500 gb it will start adding up, most big games are around 30 gb, this goes for killer instinct and mortal kombat x.Rock Band 4 is around 9 gb for the main game bu
t I don't know how big the dlc could get, songs are around 30 megabites each so it'll take a while to get to 1 gb for the dlc, thankfully.

Below I've posted a sort of guide/idea of what the ag7 is like to use.First off, I'm going to talk about stuff that's not necessarily related to the console side of things, just general stuff and other things you can do with the headset.Let's start with the box, or rather, what's inside it.Inside the box you get two types of cable, a micro usb which is used to charge, but to be honest you can actually use the same cable as your controller or, well, any device with a micro usb really, to charge this. I think this is one of the coolest things about this type of cable. plus if you lose it you then have spares, in theory. The second type of cable is a sort of patch/line-in cable. This is great because you can just plug these in like normal headphones to any device, if you want to. It's good for an initial sound quality test because y
ou can just get your phone out and plug them in if you want. However, bass boost mode and, I believe, microphone won't work in this style of use. I could be wrong about microphone though. Also I don't think you have to turn on the headset to get them to just start working when plugged into line in/3.5 mode. Now though, we get into what I think's the coolest part of it all. The whole reason why these are designed for the xbox one.You get a usb dongle that you plug into the console. I'll just step back a sec and talk about usb stuff for a bit.The console, I think, has three USB ports total. Two in the back, and one at the side, unless you get a 1 s in which case it's on the front. What I've done, is actually plugged in a normal, four-port usb hub into the side port, because I've got quite a lot plugged in. The good thing is even with a hub plugged in, the console will still recognize the dongle which is awesome. This could be useful
for stuff like external hard drives as well, as you could have the hd and the dongal plugged into the same hub. Now, back to the AG7. Everything's on the left ear/side of the headset. On the top part of the ear you've got a round button, this is your power button and mute button. You hold down the button to turn on the headset, and you hear three beeps. You'll hear a fourth sometimes straight away, sometimes a little after, that tells you the headset is successfully paired with the dongal. Now, if you just press the round button, you will mute and unmute your microphone. You can tell if it's muted or not, because when you speak you'll be able to hear yourself. The microphone is one that slides in and out. I think there might be some plastic on it to start with, I'm not too sure though it's been a while since I've unboxed mine.Anyhow, if you slide the mic out you should be able to hear yourself quite clearly, it might
take some fiddling with you can sort of move it back and fourth a bit to get it near your mouth, but I've heard reports of some people not able to move it near enough.Below this round button, is a triangle button with a dot on it. If you press this button, it toggles bass boost mode. I don't know what holding down the button does, if anything. To turn off your headset, you just hold down the round button for a few seconds. You'll hear three beeps descending. On the headset there are also a micro usb port and a 3.5 port, these should be quite obvious they are on the left hand side somewhere. Not on the top panel though. I'mt rying to figure out how to describe where they are.To get the micro usb to go in, it's not like the controller where the bumpy bit is on the top. Instead the bumpy bit has to, I think, be on the left. Or it might be right. I keep forgetting. If I find out next time, I will let you know.I recommend turning off y
our headset each time you power down our console as well, so that the battery life doesn't get used up as much. Also, there are times where the microphone might sound like it's working, but actually isn't. This happens with party chats. Usually, turning off your headset (keep the console on!), unplugging the dongle, waiting a few seconds, plugging the dongle back in, then turning on the headset and allow it to pair up again, should fix the microphone problem.

Myself and Aaron are probably the people to talk to about that, regarding Xbox One technology at least.  I personally use the Afterglow AG9 headset, whilst Aaron uses the previous model, the AG7 headset.  These are both wireless options from PDP, but the AG9's defining feature really compared to its predecessor is the detachable microphone.  Most if not all of the other features are the same.  It's a good value for money option.  If you require more information though, I'll be happy to help.

@27I've actually been using the official game's club/looking for group for Gears and have been relatively well received there.  Personally I don't think there's much point starting a club to find sighted gamers who are willing to help, it's better to work with the channels that are already there.  THough if you're a blind gamer who doesn't play with sighted people as much as I do, then that could be an idea.As for preview, I'm not sure what the situation is at the moment with new invites, as I@ve sent out a couple that are currently being looked into by my contacts  there.  Hopefully soon though you'll be able to join the program yourself without an invite.  THat's what the word is as I understand it.

@20The PS3 isn't a "bad" system, but I don't think I've ever seen a guide for it online, though I could be incorrect on that point.  Compared to the current generation of consoles, whilst it's still good and has exclusives like Heavenly sword, I would suggest going for a PS4 or Xbox One given that you can get help on either one pretty readily from either myself or a fellow Xbox One user, or the same with Assault_freak and other PS4 community members.I'd say the Xbox One currently has better accessibility and I'm not trying to be biased, just stating facts in terms of a comparison.  That and you'll be able to test the accessibility features as they are developed as part of the Xbox Insider Program (Previously the Xbox Preview Program) and provide feedback via that should you so wish.

HiMr Canine was referring to me.Anyway - looking forward to trying the xbox - assuming I do go for it. It seems that Sony just doesn't care about accessibility and while I understand that the games themselves are not (and most likely never will be) read, it's still nice to have something accessible. Especially because the more and more complicated consoles get the harder it is to remember, at least for me, where things are. It especially would be a pain in the rear to figure out what game is what on the ps4 without speech and, so far as I know, the main menu isn't read allowed unless sony has changed that.Anyway! Just my .02.

With, and this is just my opinion, consoles getting more and more ridiculously complex how, on the ps4, for instance, do you know where you are as far as what game you're about to select, the settings menu etc? Are there text files for this stuff? If I had enough money I'd get the best of both worlds.I actually still might - in future, of course. Do you guys use surround sound headsets to play games etc?Had no idea about the new bluetooth controller. Though, with that being said, could I not just get the original  and just get one of the newer controllers? Or is the one s a requirement?thanks!

In terms of campaign, Gears has the advantage of being playable with online co-op, as is Halo.  This means that if you're willing to make the leap and converse with sighted gamers who are open-minded and willing to play/work constructively, you'll get through the campaign.  Having completed Halo 5's campaign and working through Gears, I can say that though the experience may be tedius and frustrating at times, when you finally finish a campaign that's taken you several hours over at least 2 sessions, you'll feel relatively good about it, most likely. With the features that you'd probably want to use not being available in the consumer OS as of yet though (I.E. Looking For Groups and Clubs), but being a part of the preview program, I'm not sure what to suggest, especially considering the above opinions regarding games library, which also make sense. You can actually set up private matches in both Halo and Gears to allow you a

Devin, Sony actually did update it, three times... and each of those updates were pretty substancial. Couple that with the fact that sony also doesn't release updates as often as Microsoft does and there's at least some cover Sony can get behind. But I agree... the lack of sincere updating and care is becoming very irritating.I'd also be interested in seeing how Gears of War is playable, if at all, without sighted help.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

I may be wrong, but I thought that Microsoft wanted Xbox One and PC to get the same game library (at least when it comes to Windows 10). I'm pretty sure I saw something about Killer Instinct being available on PC. I don't know how much true it is as of now, but if that's what really happens, I would prefer sticking with my PC. Even though the main reason I don't have a Xbox One is because, like said abov, there are more playable games on playstation 4.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

PS plus gives you the same thing. hahaha. And if Hand of Fate is playable, I might give it a look... but again, the element of luck will ruin it for me, likely. Samurai Warriors 4, though it requires luck, is about 70% player dependent. I've finished all the campaigns in the original game, and most of the sequel. And Haylo and Gears of War, although they sound interesting, relies too much on sighted people backing you up for my personal liking, but hey, whatever floats your boat. lol If I found a first person shooter that I could at least get through the single player campaign with, I'd be a very happy camper. I've already preordered Tekken 7 on ps4.But if you know any other games which we can beat on our own, and or play against sighted people without needing other sighted people to back us up other than KI, I'd definitely be interested to know...

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

I know you love your KI and frankly, I don't blame you.  It's not that you have to have sighted players around to "help you play it", but that they have to back you up in a firefight for example.  You can be in the heat of battle and maybe a stray rocket/bullet/whatever hits you and downs you and you couldn't have avoided it.  Those other players can see you and work with you to get back on your feet and then you can continue to fight on as normal.  I understand what you mean by playable though, makes sense really.  I mean Hand of Fate is sort of playable anyway, that's a sort of card game come combat arena thing - pretty hard to describe really.  But given that it has cards in it you have to just be lucky.   That's PS4 though as well, but I did get it free with Games With Gold, see below. One thing I did forget to mention is the fact that regardless if games are playable, you can get free ones through Games with gold and normally every once in a while you'll get good ones - Tekken Tag 2 was available free with GWG a while back and I've heard of other games I've wanted to try and test for playability being free as well.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Didn't take it as a personal attack, not at all... I'm not bashing or criticizing either, just contributing my thoughts. I wouldn't consider any game, no matter what platform, playable if you needed to have sighted players around to help you play it. Playable to me means games we can finish on our own eg most fighting games, action games such as Samurai Warriors 4, etc. It's not about me sticking to ps4... there are definitely similar games that I think are unplayable, such as Killzone: Shadowfall, the Yakuza series, etc. So the console has no baring on my opinion of what is playable and what isn't.As for switching, I honestly doubt we would be able to make any case... the game library is going to be what it is regardless of how many blind people play it. I haven't found one single game, other than Skullgirls on PC, which I would consider truly accessible. Everything else is considered playable... which means less than 90% of the information is
obtainable by us. Again, it's not that I don't want to switch... and if you can name other games that we can play independently, then I'll certainly think about it more. But last I checked, the xbox1S was the same price as the original... but I might be wrong there. lol In short, it's not a preference for a specific console... it's the games I can play and how I can justify the money I'm paying. I love my Killer Instinct.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

It also depends, Assault and SLJ, on what you'd consider "playable".  Personally, I'd consider Halo and Gears Of War playable, to name but two, even though to enjoy it you definitely have to have sighted players who are willing to help out involved, to varying degrees.  If I'm honest, I wouldn't be surprised if that's not your opinion, as you're sticking with PS4 so strictly.I'm going to take a guess and say that you guys won't find anything else that you'd consider playable on the Xbox one that won't be available on PS4, which is a real shame as if you were to switch to Xbox One, you could help make the case for the game library being important as well as accessibility. What I'm getting at is, if you think about it, Microsoft's game library isn't going to become more accessible if you've got blind users sticking to PS4 and being unwilling to work with developers for Xbox One on
new experiences by playing their games and feeding back.I mean this is just me possibly being rather blunt, but it's not intended as a personal attack on either of you - I can understand your logic as to why you want to stick to your guts as it were, but in doing so I believe that might not help matters really.I appreciate your willingness to consider the proposition of switching though, that's half the battle.  Buying the console is the other half.  Oh by the way.  The Xbox ONe S, for size and capacity reasons, would be a far better choice currently than the Original Xbox ONe, as additionally, the new controllers that come with it work via Bluetooth under Windows 7, 8 and 10 (for varying conditions and to varying degrees of compatability) with triggers that are pressure sensetive.  This is an extra insentive as they work out of the box, without the need for complicated rigging up of Joy2Key or similar programs.  If you have any furth
er questions feel free to ask here and I'll answer what I can.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Definitely thinking about it. I'm not entirely off the fence yet, either. but as SLJ said, the ps4 has more playable games... and as I've said before, it's still the game library that matters to me the most at the end of the day. Xbox1 versions don't count as all those games like Naruto, Mortal Kombat, the upcoming injustice 2... are all available, or will be, on the ps4. And SLJ, when using the website, make sure your language is set correctly or certain things will not work, such as your credit card.

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Hi.[[wow]]. Thanks for this great information. Now we just need more playable games. This is currently the Playstation which have most playable games so far.I'm having some issues with the XBox store, which I'll take a look at later on when I get more time. Would you mind if I send you a private mail regarding this? It seems like my Microsoft account is missing something regarding the store when looking at the website on my computer, but that's an other topic. Please keep us posted. I'm excited for this...

Re: Microsoft: Continuing Xbox Accessibility

Interesting to know... thanks for sharing this info! Quite frankly, Sony's efforts are definitely unimpressive, but only if accessibility is a deal breaker on which console you buy. As of right now I don't have any plans on switching, since I can use my ps4, even without the tts relatively easily, just like I used to with the ps3... and there's still only one game on xbox1 I want to play. But if this gets as good as it seems to continue to get, I see two things happening. Either Sony is going to try and catch up, or things will simply to go on the way they do... which means more blind people will buy xbox1's. Not that Sony would care, given how small our market is, and I may even get 1, if there are more games that come out exclusively on xbox1 I want to play.Killer Instinct doesn't justify the purchase of a console. lol
