I appreciate your replies and suggestions! I am headed back out on the
road road today (see the personal introduction sticky), so I will not
be able to play around with this for a couple of weeks, but seeing
everyone's corrected results motivates me more.

Bottom line: it's affordable to use FLAC now, so you may as well do it
right once, know you're getting the best quality, and save yourself
the future hassles.
That's the conclusion to which I've come. To throw digital information
away you need a very good reason. If
Re-ripping is a pain, but on the plus side, it takes less time to rip in
FLAC because there is less compression to do. When I first set up EAC to
encode in FLAC, it went so fast, I was worried that I must've done
something wrong.

Here's a brief summary of the experience in-shop:
Their cheapest amp turned out to -be- the Arcam A70 (£500), so we
listened with that. I don't know why - I had given him an idea of our
budget - but the rather unenthusiastic sales gentleman decided to plug
in some Totem speakers costing £600. We

As always, your input is welcome. Thanks.
Ah, he used the Buy British line... If I remember
At this time the Transporter does not resample audio data under any
circumstances. The firmware architecture really never had resampling
in mind. The SB3 will resample 88.2KHz and 96KHz content down to
44.1KHz and 48KHz, respectively.
I would suggest you check the wav file to make sure it
Hi all,
I have just moved house and haven't got the space to set up my old
system which consisted of the following:
-SB3
-CIAUDIO VDA 2 DAC
-Quad 11l speakers
-Cyrus 6 amp
I moved my Squeezebox to the bedroom and hooked it up to a Yamaha DAB
receiver and am really enjoying it there but I am

My SB3 does not do this but whenever my PC off my Transporter (from
standby) keeps showing an error message unable to connect to
Slimserver every few minutes and it is annoying because it sits below
our TV!
I have looked for a setting within Slimserver and player

Tried that!
It's already in standby and when I power down my PC the error messages
start to appear and pressing the power button has no effect.
The only way I can stop this from happening is to log on to
squeezenetwork before powering down my PC and then the Transporter
remains in standby until
It may not sound too good though. Most PC soundcards have a native
sampling rate of 48kHz, and may well upsample the CD's 44.1 to 48
internally. You may be able to stop this, but it's unpredictable -
different soundcards may do different things. Your DAC might tell you
what the incoming sample
The Outlaw folks told me their cables performance does not change after
additional usage...
So there...

For those of you do not follow these things SoundStage is one of the
oldest and most respected of the online audio review sites. And Doug
Schneider, who wrote the review is one of if not the sole founder (I
don't really know.) I have been reading their site for years. And so

I have a similar situation... I've had to unplug the unit. Anyone find a
way to have it from turning on when the PC is off??

I have and Esoteric D-03/P-03 combo and modified Northstar transport in
some of my own high end setups. Ever since I got my Transporters, they
are the only transports that have been used. Transparency is all we can
ask for and I think the Transporter delivers that to the T.
If I had time, I
