What do you mean by somewhat recently? Within the last 5 years? Within the
last 18 years? 50 years?
For the longest time, the only book in English was A History of the Azores
Islands by James H. Guill, published in 1991. He is deceased and his
daughter holds the copyright and right

I didn't think anything did exist, but I thought I would ask, just to have
documentation on when my grandfather would have left the United States to
return to the Azores, since he did not apply for a passport at that point in
time. I guess I will just have to leave it to speculation,

I have this book and have read it. It is very good as a basic history of
the Azores Islands. Both in Portuguese and English which is nice too!
