Hello,
Has anyone been researching in Achadinha, Nordeste? I am looking for
records before the 1700s and am having no luck. My ancestor, Sebastiao
Barbosa, was born in Achadinha about 1687 +/- 5 years.
In Pedreira, Nordeste, before 1886-88, Nossa Senhora da Luz Church

are in real bad shape and my not take you back that far. Achada is online
at the CCA site.
If you don't find them in Achada (or the records don't go back far enough),
then I think your only hope is that they were
Who are your ancestors that lead Sebasitao? The records before about

Just a reminder that the 1940 Census is out tomorrow at 9am EDT! You may
go to 1940Census.archives.gov and then eventually (don't know the exact
date for these) but www.archive.com/1940census, FamilySearch.org and
Ancestry.com. I hope all of the genealogists don't crash the government

There is no name index and probably will not be one for about 6 months.
To locate someone, you must know the numbers assigned to the state and their
enumeration district. Was told this at a seminar that I attended last
week.

Hi JR,
Thank you for the information. I examined the records and so far the names
look promising! I'm currently looking for a Barbara Cordeiro. Her name is
on several of Apolonia's children's birth records. Once I find her, I am
sure things will fall into place.
As for Sebastiao, he's going to
