Before I got involved with my de Braga discovery, I was working on the
Mello/Mello Castanho's of Maia, Ribeira Grande. One thing that had
confounded me was I could not locate information on my ancestor, Joao de
Mello's parents or siblings. I was able to solve part of the mystery this
month.
Yes, I found quite a few errors in the baptisms. One says Emilia is a
Braga. Another says they were received in Santa Anna. Mafalda does not have
Medeiros in her immediate ancestry.
Anyway, I suspect an error in the parents of Mafalda. It is quite a rare
name. There is only one Mafalda in said
