Mary,
I've seen the Evangelho family on the 1910 census and she is not in that
household.

HI Eric - I'm thinking the Louise Souza living with Luiza D Souza in the
1910 Census is not the right person. My grandmother would have been named
Louise Evangelho, not Souza. Also, my grandmother's mother (my mystery
Maria/Mary) died when she was 2, and her father returned to the Azores to

Thank you Eric, for this and your other message. This is certainly more
validation to add to her history, and I thank you for the research! Now if I
can just figure out who her parents were and where she was born I might be able
to fill in her branch of my tree. They are my brick wall.
appreciate you looking when you

My grandfather John Enos Goulart was born 1883 in Feteira Fayal. He settled in
California, also he had brothers that stayed in Massachusetts.

Thanks so much Rosemarie!
Agostinho and Margarida are my great-grandparents. I believe their first
child, Mary, was stillborn. My family was unaware of her existence, but in
the 1910 census, they reported one stillbirth. I'd found a probable birth
record for her on Ancestry, but the names
Robin, I will look into this when I return from my running around today!
There are many Silvas and I need a little more time to double check for all
of the names you have given me!

Hi Sherry,
I have the name Goulart from Faial in my family tree. I don't have your
Antonio, but I am wondering if we are connected through someone else. Most of
my Faial family was in Feteira. How about yours?

Well Sherry, no luck on your Antonio da Rosa. I looked under da Rosa, de
Rosa do Rosa and Rose/Rosa just in case the added the 'da's etc.' or
deleted them, nothing. There is not anything on de Mello, do/da Mello or
Mello either! So sorry.

Hi Rosemarie,
When you get a chance could you look for my illusive GG-Uncle please? He went
by Tony Rose in the USA, but he was born Antonio Goulart DaRosa, on 22 July
1870, on Faial. Some of the brothers used Goulart some used Rose after they
arrived in the USA. Tony was the only one to go
Hi Mary ,
No luck. No Evangelhos at all so I looked for the mother named Sousa/Souza
and none married to a Jacintho. Darn, was really hoping that I would find
the birth record in the book. Good luck on finding more on this family.
The good thing about this book is that the mother's names are also

If "mo" is mother, Eric is saying the mother in your post, Mamie Vincent,
mailed his family some postcards about 8 years after the birth of the

I have those very people in my files. Mamie Vincent sent my family some
postcards around 1918. I have a photo I think is her. Her father was
married three times so there is a large tree . The family is Vicente
Ambrosio from Cedros , Flores.
