Obrigado, looks promising, they have a "portable" version, good to have it
in your "pen" and run it anywhere! Will give it a try with more time. What
are the "Excel" style columns in the writing area? Have you tried it?
Anyone in this list uses Linux?

Hello,
I was searching baptisms and found this. There is a lot of words
written. There's a side note on the bottom too. Can someone give me a
general idea of what this is about? Thank you.
It's for Manuel da Silva, on the right side of the page.

BTW, I think the Excel columns are where you type the data that you're
transcribing from the original document. Note that there's no OCR involved,
it's just a nice UI where you have both the image of the original and the

Obrigado João,
I'm aware of the no OCR! That would be a miracle lol! Specially on those
1700 records! I will have a try on my Ubuntu machine then. Its a very handy
tool but I don't like the Excel format, a simple notepad would be great!
Cheers

The record following the one in question is the 13 of Feb

Looking at the shape of the word, I'd guess it's either quatro or sete or

It's a baptism, but a bit more unusual. I think it says that Manuel da

getting married. He must not have been baptized as a baby or the page got
lost and they rebaptized him. That's what I think it says.

Hi Aaron,
It says that Manoel da Silva, son of Francisco da Silva (deceased) and
Maria de Pimentel, native of the parish of Annunciação in Achada Grande is

Hi Karen,I noticed we've been in touch before and I'm wondering if you ever got the Family Finder DNA test, because if you didn't I think it might show a connection. Maybe not to me, but maybe to my father.Using the CCA records, have you been able to trace them back far yet? I see some very remote

Hi Everyone,
I've been working on a line that has taken me to Sao Sebastiao Ginetes. My 6th
great grandparents Sebastiao Ferreira and Luzia Carvalha.
I found their marriage certificate but I am having alittle trouble reading
their parents names. This is what I have.
Jan 5, 1692. Sebastiao , so
Sebastião Ferreira son of Antonio Ferreira and Luzia da Costa. Luzia Carvalha
daughter of Filipe ... and Bárbara Raposo
I have a Filipe Carvalho and a Bárbara Raposo on my data married July 30.1672.
There is a big chance Luzia is daughter of this couple since she goes by
Carvalho.

You have it right. When you can't read the names look for a corrobnorating
record and then you know it is style of the priest that is difficult to
read.

Just found the birth of a Luzia, Dec. 16 1673 in Ginetes to a Filipe Roiz and
Bárbara Raposa, This Luzia was born after Filipe Carvalho and Bárbara Raposo
marriage, most likely it is that same couple married in 1672 but just to be
sure try to find the marriage of a Filipe Roiz and a Barbara Rapo

i won't comment on the info on the records as Marcio has already done so,
however, you did ask the side question about the name "Roiz." You are correct
in that it is an abbreviation for the surname "Rodrigues."

Sandy Dolan,
Send the link. Unless you are going to find a format that PCs, Macs,
Linux, etc can open and you know the software for each (kinda hard to know
all that unless you are a computer geek) it's best to send the link. It's
