Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Buried records for Faial on the CCA

2016-10-13 Thread Cheri Mello
Family Search (LDS) filmed up to the 1870s or the 1880s or so depending on
the freguesia. The filming was done around the mid-1980s and they filmed
what was available at that time.

It is my understanding that the CCA is "done" with these records. What you
see is what you get. Who knows what their thinking will be in 10 or 15
years though.

Any idea when the original records (e.g.,1916) will be put on the site? Are
the records available on LDS films? Thanks.

On Ancestry there is a person avila76 that list your Agnes Pavao (Peacock) in
their tree. The person has a lot of documentation to support the facts. Only
problem is They say both Hilo Hawaii and Calif. Census says Calif, Death
certificate says Calif Social Security application says Hilo Hawaii. I believe
its Calif because her brother (Luiz, Louis ,Lewis ) which was older in 1892
was born in Calif. Hope this helps

Geneva,

According to Mortan Allen's Directory of Steamship arrivals the Olinda Came
into New Bedford MA and Ny, NY on these dates:

Jan 17th, 1891
Mar 14th, 1891
June 2nd, 1891
Sep14th, 1891
Nove 23, 1891.

Now They usually docked in New Bedford then NY but I don't think it would
have taken them 10 days. So, you have those dates to check out.

Her names was Agnes Pavao, born in 1895. Her father was Manuel Pavao and
mother Antonia Martins (Frietas) When she was married to August Frietas
they had a daughter named Mary born in 1889. Mr Frietas died and she

[AZORES-Genealogy] my great grand mother

2016-10-13 Thread ggervais1...@centurylink.net
My great grand mothers Petition for Naturalization says that she came to
this Country on February 2, 1891 aboard the Vessel Olinda to New York. She
used the name Violanti Ferreira.

I can not find the ships manifest as I am curious who she came with as she
would have been 16 years old.

Can anyone help me find this ships passenger list.

Thanks

Hi,
The side note says:

A impossibilidade foi o mau tempo e uma queda que dei quando estava indo
para a sepultura com o defunto.

The bad weather was the impossibility and a fall that I took while on the
way to the sepulchre with the deceased.

Repost for George Sousa, georgecsousa at gmail.com

In terms of the side note... This may be of little help, but I'm able to
make out some of text and I think it says

"N.B. A Impossibilidade (possibly an abbreviavion for 'que') foi mão tempo
(unable to follow this text and/or abbreviations) estive indo (possibly
'para' or an abrevidation) a spultura com o defunto"

As you've stated this is a note about "bad weather" and "accompanying the
deceased to the internment site"... what I can't figure out is if this
intended to say "that despite the bad weather I accompanied the deceased to
the interment site" or "because of the bad weather I was unable to
accompany the deceased to the internment site". Maybe someone who is more
familiar with the abbreviations might be able to help.
