I am researching my mother's paternal line (Madruga) from Freguesia of
Lajes do Pico on the island of Pico. My question is, since I was not

In my experience on the Island of Sao Jorge, the priests wrote the posting
of the banns in the margin of the woman's baptismal record. This is during
the 1800's and later. I haven't seen it in the earlier records. I don't
know if there was any special book where anymore info was recorded.
In case anyone wants to know The banns of marriage, commonly known simply as
the banns or bans are the public announcement in a Christian parish church
of an impending marriage between two specified persons. It is commonly
