Hi
I'm using 3.3.0 on Linux Mint, to restore to a linux laptop.
I'm trying to access the restore log for a restore that is now running
for about 12 hours and surely should be done. I can see there's a
substantial RestoreLOG.z but I can't tail it because it's compressed.
Is there a way?
I'd like
The restore was killed off by a power outage.
I'd still appreciate any advice on what to do with a never-ending
restore.
Thanks
Adam

You could try zless or zmore, e.g. zless RestoreLOG.z

OK, I just saw Raoul's message.
Backuppc_zcat is the tool I need.
Thanks Raoul

Hi
I had to re-install cygwin on a Win7 client but kept the same 'backuppc' user

the system and I see that backuppc can't connect any more.
I tried ssh'ing to the client from linux and there were warning messages about
unknown hosts which I was able to sort out.
This is what I see in the l
Once backuppc gets an ssh connection with the client, does it try to do
something with rsync?
How would I increase logging to get some useful output?
I raised Xfer.log.level to 9 but it didn't change much.

Hi,
the first real restore that I have had to do took a surprising amount of effort,
so I figure I took the wrong approach somewhere. This is what I did:
- to start with, the host was set up with rsync and had quite a few
$RsyncShareName directories specified e.g.
/cygdrive/d/dev
/c

Hi BackupPC Users
I'm using the web GUI to launch a backup - I click 'incremental' then confirm it
on the next screen, then see the next page telling me the request has been queued.
But then I try to check up on it, I see nothing. No running jobs, no failures,
no errors, no jobs in the queues
It's currently behaving itself. Next time it happens, I'll double-check the
logs.
Thanks

Hi,
this is my first question, and a really basic one no doubt.
I have a server running BackupPC on Ubuntu with all the backup data on it. It
also runs smartmon and that's telling me to replace my server's hard drive
because it's detecting problems that could lead to catastrophic data loss. I

You should save your data in at least three places, so I assume you are trying
to save it to two, but both copies are on the same drive.

I'm trying to get this running and I've changed topDir in config.pl to point to

Every time I reboot my Ubuntu server, I have to restart the backuppc manually.
I figured this must be an Ubuntu packaging problem, something to do with the
sysvinit config, but I've checked those out and from my limited knowledge of
sysvinit, backuppc appears to have good settings in the approp

I've got a laptop that I don't want backed up during the day so I have
configured it's schedule with a black-out period like this (via the web UI):
$Conf{BlackoutPeriods} = [
{
'hourEnd' => '24',
'weekDays' => [
'0',
'1',
'2',
'3',
'4',
'5',
4 so I guess there's a risk there.

The BlackoutGoodCnt is set to 7. Interesting config option! Although I'm not
sure it helps me.
I think I'll take the advice and set the WakeupSchedule to nighttime only.
Thanks for the pointer.
