I'm not sure if this is a b43 problem or a Fedora problem. After the advice given previously, I grabbed a nightly Fedora 13 spin that has a 2.6.32.2-15.fc13.x86_64 kernel and ran from the live DVD. going through dmesg it eventually gets to b43-phy0: Broadcom 4312 WLAN found (core revision 15)
