[beagleboard] Re: HDMI not working in new BeagleboardX15

2018-01-29 Thread Jeff Andich

Hi,

My BB-X15 which arrived just prior to Harvey boots into some form of X
windows from the internal eMMC image and the beagleboard.org desktop is
displayed on my TV via HDMI. I haven't yet updated the internal eMMC image
as I'm running mainly from uSD cards..

My BB-X15 default eMMC image consists of the following:

debian@BeagleBoard-X15:~$ uname -r
4.9.35-ti-r44

debian@BeagleBoard-X15:~$ cat /etc/dogtag
BeagleBoard.org Debian Image 2017-07-02
debian@BeagleBoard-X15:~$

The console port isn't displayed on the HDMI. Not sure if there's a way to
do this

Thanks and FYI...

Jeff

you return the unit to the place you bought it from, and let them figure it

Re: [beagleboard] Re: Error using connmanctl> enable wifi BBBW

2018-01-29 Thread BURAK SONER
Hi Robert,

I've grounded TP1 (something like a via I suppose so I stuck a jumper in
and connected the other end to P9-1). I checked with a thin tip multimeter
touching the golden part of the via (not the jumper) and verified they're
connected. I logged in as root and entered the following commands with the
outputs beneath them (I've added separators here to make them clear, didn't
press enter twice)

root@beaglebone:~# dd if=/opt/scripts/device/bone/bbbw-eeprom.dump

▒U3▒A335BNLTBWA5BBWG0+1 records in
0+1 records out
28 bytes copied, 0.00245283 s, 11.4 kB/s

root@beaglebone:~#
of=/sys/devices/platform/ocp/44e0b000.i2c/i2c-0/0-0050/eeprom

After disconnecting the TP1 GND connection I rebooted the device, typed
ifconfig and didn't see wlan0 again, I tried connmanctl and then enable
wifi there, same error as earlier. The output of the version.sh didn't
change either:

root@beaglebone:~# sudo /opt/scripts/tools/version.sh

Debian 9, still has Python 2.7.x available.

Debian "10/Buster" "might" drop Python 2.7.x, and only have 3.x available.

As long as you aren't doing anything with "overlays" in the old Debian
7 wheezy image, it should be an easy transition..

[beagleboard] Will I hit any issues going from Debian 7 (wheezy) to 9 (stretch)?

2018-01-29 Thread Chris Green
I have a fairly old (just coming up to 4 years) BBB running Debian 7
which I have kept up to date with security fixes etc.

It's used to monitor various things on my boat and runs headless with
remote ssh access to manage it. Just about all of the monitoring code
is written in Python and lives in my home directory on the BBB.

Debian Wheezy is only supported until May 2018 so I need to move to a
newer version. Will I hit any significant issues if I go straight
from Debian 7 (Wheezy) to Debian 9 (Stretch)?

I intend to simply get the latest Stretch image on microSD and put
that in the BBB (having copied software from the Wheezy of course) and
then install my existing Python code onto that. I'll be doing it
'locally' (i.e. I'll be on the boat) so swapping microSD cards will be
easy enough and I can hit the power and reset buttons as needed.

Presumably I can use the Stretch IoT (non-GUI) image as I don't need a
GUI on my BBB.

Another case of eeprom mis-programmed:

GND TP1 then run as root:

dd if=/opt/scripts/device/bone/bbbw-eeprom.dump
of=/sys/devices/platform/ocp/44e0b000.i2c/i2c-0/0-0050/eeprom

[beagleboard] Re: HDMI not working in new BeagleboardX15

2018-01-29 Thread Jeff Andich
Hi,

I have a BB-X15 at home still with the default image (kernel 4.9.??) on
the eMMC. Regrettably, I've never tried running X on it (not even remote
desktop).

I will test it tonight by plugging an HDMI cable into it..

I HAVE plugged an HDMI cable into our 572xEVM/BB-X15 at work a few months
ago, with a "base" BeagleBoard.org LXQT image on SD Card for BB-X15 from
BeagleBoard.org, and X worked fine on that. Note, that the 572x LCD
touchscreen was attached when I tried this.

Please ping me if I forget to follow-up...

[beagleboard] HDMI not working in new BeagleboardX15

2018-01-29 Thread vivekguptha
Hi,

I just purchased a new BBX15 from mouser and connected to the suggested 12v
5a power adaptor. On switching the power button, I don't see any activity
in the monitor connected through the HDMI port of BBX15. Does the new board
come default with debian OS booting from eMMC?
