I just had a call from Erwin Meissner who had a solid report of a Great Gray
Owl observed last week near Massey about 100 km west of Sudbury. Erwin
thought that this might be an early indication of a movement this fall and

Hi all,
This afternoon, Burke Korol (from Barrie) and David ___?___ (from London)
re-found one of the Pacific Loons reported a couple days earlier. My son and I
were grateful to have them show it to us as well. The bird was visible from
Minet Point Park, on the south side of the bay.

It was another exciting week in the Long Point area. Waterfowl numbers continue
to build with greater than 30,000 waterfowl of most species on the Inner and

At about 5:30 pm today (Friday October 24th), I observed a pair of rusty
blackbirds on the University of Waterloo campus in the Village 1 marsh. 1 had
distinct fall plumage and the other was darker, possibly still in breeding
plumage or else molting. Both birds were vocalizing (singing) quite
