Just a quick note today as I'm having some computer issues.
It was a good week for geese with the continuing GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GOOSE seen at Button Bay, Wolfe Island, through to 12th at least. Three
CACKLING GEESE have also been present at this location but were also last
seen on 12th. A
The Ross’ Goose, first found by Bill Bradford, and reported to eBird in
Saturday continues on the Bath waterfront. It is currently at Finkles Shore
which is located at the extreme west end of the village. Bath is located on Hwy
33 out of Kingston but can also be reached from the 401 by taking
Just a quick update that the Spotted Towhee was seen this morning by the
original finder Paul Jones at 7:20. I saw the bird yesterday at lunch time
after just a few minutes but I'm hearing that it might take up to a couple
of hours for the bird to show.
Directions as above but to reach the
A Spotted Towhee is currently being seen at Prince Edward Point. It was found

I can only echo Doug’s message from earlier. I caught up with him and Tom just

Five members enjoyed a pleasant morning at Murphys Point Provincial Park
seeing a number of target species including Golden-winged Warbler,
Chestnut-sided Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Yellow-throated Vireo, Indigo
Bunting, Scarlet Tanager and Great Crested Flycatcher. We also had some
great looks at
The Snowy Egret found last night at Kaiser Crossroads on the Creasy Peniunsula

Three Black Vultures currently (12:30-12:40) circling the observatory at Prince
Edward Point. Presumably the same birds as seen on yesterday’s OFO trip. Also
22 Little Gulls at Kaiser Cross Road.
PEPtBO is located at the end of Long Point Road in the SE peninsula of the

The Ruff continues at Kilburn but is tricky as it favors the back of the marsh.
The Snowy Egret lifted at about 18:15 and flew towards the south. I did not see
the reported Eurasian Wigeon but no one saw them depart.
These birds were reported via Facebook earlier this afternoon. Did not see an
The drake Harlequin continues off the lighthouse at Presqu’ile. It was on the
north side just in the bay but has flushed towards Salt Point/Government Dock.
Good bird if coming for the waterfowl weekend.
Presqu’ile is reached from the 401 at Brighton.

I watched a classic female Barrow’s Goldeneye for about 5 minutes this morning
at Horne’s Ferry before it flew away with most of the Common Goldeneye towards
Cape Vincent (US side). A flotilla of mixed diving ducks has been at this
location the last 2 mornings but this is my first sighting.
Unfortunately, no luck with the bluebird. The home owner has not seen it since
Sunday. Lots of potential habitat out that way (but not much in the way of red
cedar) so may still be around.
Home owner has my number and will call if refound.

Just saw the adult grey Gyrfalcon (10:15) as I came across from Wolfe to
Kingston. It was about 1.5 km from the city. Incredibly it took on 2 Snowy
Owls, taking a big clutch of feathers from the second. There is also a
Peregrine Falcon around nearer the city. Great for comparison but beware of
The Mountain Bluebird continues this morning. It took almost an hour to locate
as it is staying low out of the wind and rain. It is currently 1 hydro pole
left (west) of #817 on Babylon Road.
Babylon Road is accesses off Long Point Road (to Prince Edward Point). See
attached link to yesterday’s
The bird has been present since 7:02 this morning (Saturday), coming to the
feeder every 5 minutes or so.
Directions as below.
Good birding,

In addition to the Cattle Egret, I just found 3 Cackling Geese on the water off
the former CIL factory. Continue south on Hwy 4. Turn east on Hwy 33 and watch
for a pull off on the waterside about 1km down the road. Lots of Canada Geese
to work through but these birds are classic (and close).
The Cattle Egret reported early afternoon by Kurt Henigge on eBird continues at
Millhaven. It is now distantly visible from Taylor Kidd Boulevard, about 500m
east of Hwy 4. It is with cattle to the south of the road. Hwy 4 is accessible
from junction 593 on the 401.
