The Ruff continues at Kilburn but is tricky as it favors the back of the marsh. The Snowy Egret lifted at about 18:15 and flew towards the south. I did not see the reported Eurasian Wigeon but no one saw them depart. These birds were reported via Facebook earlier this afternoon. Did not see an

[Ontbirds] Female Barrow’s Goldeneye - Wolfe Island

I watched a classic female Barrow’s Goldeneye for about 5 minutes this morning at Horne’s Ferry before it flew away with most of the Common Goldeneye towards Cape Vincent (US side). A flotilla of mixed diving ducks has been at this location the last 2 mornings but this is my first sighting.

Just saw the adult grey Gyrfalcon (10:15) as I came across from Wolfe to Kingston. It was about 1.5 km from the city. Incredibly it took on 2 Snowy Owls, taking a big clutch of feathers from the second. There is also a Peregrine Falcon around nearer the city. Great for comparison but beware of

In addition to the Cattle Egret, I just found 3 Cackling Geese on the water off the former CIL factory. Continue south on Hwy 4. Turn east on Hwy 33 and watch for a pull off on the waterside about 1km down the road. Lots of Canada Geese to work through but these birds are classic (and close).
