morning.
Highlights as follows:

the lake. It turned and landed about 300m straight out (near white buoy), with

I saw a Pacific Loon in non breeding plumage, complete with necklace at around
2;20 this afternoon . I was looking into East Bay while standing on the
opposite side of the Y peninsula opposite Pipit Point at Leslie Spit. It has
moved and I’m trying to relocate it. I will post again if re found.
There's currently a breeding-plumaged adult Pacific Loon among a loose
congregation of about 450 loons on the lake near East Point Park, in the
east end of Toronto. They're due south of the shoreline feature that
resembles a shallow point. A scope is necessary.

Beautiful adult bird with shining silver-grey crown and hindneck, black throat,
black back/wings and white speckling on wings. Bill held horizontal (not above

We also had a Dickcissel flyover earlier (possibly 2 birds).

The Pacific Loon seen from the Cobden Boat Launch for the past week was still
visible from there at 4:00 pm today. It was actively fishing on the north side
of the lake. Scope a must to view adequately.
Directions: Cobden is on the Transcanada HWY 17 between Pembroke and Ottawa.

common Loon and Black Scoter and White winged Scoters.
The Murre has not been seen today to the best of my knowledge.
The Eared Grebe is being seen at township park on lake Dore.

Just an update on at least 1 Pacific Loon being seen today at Minet's Point
Park in Barrie.
The adult bird (moulting to winter plumage but retaining some alternate
plumage) was in amongst a minimum of 1,600 Common Loons today, viewing was
perfect with cool temps (not too much heat

It has a pale throat, silver nape, and large white splotches on the back. Not a
ton of loons but all 3 species are here. Also a few little gulls.

I have not seen a posting so I will point out that the bird was only seen by
the original observer who obtained photos, but birders arriving on site within
a Hal hour of the report were unable to relocate it even with the original

Wheatley Harbour southeast of the breakwall (visible from the pier). It was

point at Rock Point Provincial Park.
The bird was distinctly smaller than the ~12 Common Loons with which it was

On Sunday, 25 October 2015 (1030 hrs) I relocated what was probably the same
PACIFIC LOON that Frank Pinilla reported a few days ago – on the Barrie
waterfront. I saw this bird from the north shore of Kempenfelt Bay (Lake
Simcoe) near where St. Vincent street dead-end’s at the lake.
There's a breeding plumage Pacific Loon at Col. Sam Smith Park.
The bird has been viewed by many and is directly due south offshore the
Whimbrel Watch area at the extreme southeast portion of the park at the lake.
Col. Sam Smith Park is located south of Lakeshore Blvd and Kipling Ave.

Posted on behalf of Martin Bence, today Martin reported to me that there was
a Pacific Loon along with WW Scoters on Lake Ontario just off the mouth of
Duffins Creek.
Directions: from 401 e or w take Westney Rd. south till you reach a sign
indicating Duffins Creek Rotary Park, once parked
At 9:40 I spotted an alternate plumaged adult Pacific Loon with a big merganser
feeding frenzy off the east side of the tip. The flock isn't too far from shore
and working its way north.
An Eared Grebe flew by with a Horned Grebe earlier in the morning, and Ken just
picked out another Eared
This afternoon, a group of us refound the juvenile Pacific Loon off the west
side of the tip of Point Pelee. When we first found it, it was somewhat close
to shore but it swam continuously southwest until we lost it due to distance
around 3:15pm.

Dave Pryor and I just observed one of the alternate plumage Pacific Loons in Barrie on Kempenfelt Bay. The bird was in with a huge flock of Common Loons and observed from the trail on the North side of Kempenfelt Bay moving slowly east. Park in the public lot at the corner of

The Specific Pacific Loon is off the east side of Point Pelee, just north of
Sparrow Field. It's pretty far out and a scope is necessary. It is on it's own,
but on the right (south) side of the big feeding flock of mergansers and gulls.

At approx. 3:50 p.m. today, I was stationed outside in my yard to see if there
was going to be a raptor down flight at the end of the day. A small loon
approached from the northeast, then it flew due west towards me, circled
slightly to the northwest and then headed due south and out of sight.
This is a late post (sorry, I had no Internet access until now) saying that I
saw the juvenile Pacific Loon on Lake Simcoe yesterday afternoon. This is
likely the same one found by Josh Vandermeulen the day before. The weather was
very rainy and windy, and almost all of the birds were very far

pier at Oshawa Harbour. Photos have been taken, and the bird is close enough to

This afternoon on the lunch hour, Rob Dobos found a Pacific Loon off the end
of Gray's Road in Stoney Creek. It was in the company of three Common Loons
giving good comparisons of size and structure. The bird was at scope
distance but did come in briefly with the others, constantly diving.
While sitting having snacks and bevs on the deck of the cottage, Rob Dobos
noticed the immature Pacific loon off our beach. The bird is not too far off
the beach moving south of 1036 Pelee Drive.

on the 19th. Loon was quite a ways out in choppy water, just past the last
house to the west.
Take Thickson Road to the end, walk the ashpalt path to the blue Map Sign a few

At 12:15 this afternoon I found a basic plumaged Pacific loon at the end of
Thickson's road in whitby. It was with a common loon and diving regularly. It
was heading west along the lakeshore. The bird appeared to be an adult.
Presumably this is one of the loons that was around a few weeks ago.

empty lot to the west of my house (330 Crystal Beach Blvd.). It was almost 2/3

plumage was seen briefly by Grant Snyder and myself from the inlet of
Wingfield Basin. The bird was initially scoped at about 200 m from shore,
but it dove and re-appear much further out. After seeing it dive a second
