I had two juvenile Northern Gannets this morning at 7:30 a.m. at
Millhaven at the ferry dock for Amherst Island . The birds were flying
west.
Directions: From Hwy 401 take County Rd 4 south to Lake Ontario at
Millhaven. Turn right (west) and
Ontario/Quebec

Britannia point is east of the Britannia Conservation Area. Follow Cassels
Road past BCA and drive to dead end. Britannia Point is accessible from
Britannia Water Filtration Plant

As of 11 am the Red Phalarope was still swimming around at the
Casselman Sewage Lagoon. It is very close to the shore, the northwest
edge of the first lagoon as you enter the site.

There is an Ottawa alert in progress as of early this afternoon on an
adult Black-legged Kittiwake called in by Ray Holland in the late
morning. Observed where Thomas Dolan Parkway goes to the Ottawa
River. Flying towards Constance Bay.

Hi Everyone,
While looking for the Razorbill off Deschenes Lookout, I observed the Western
Grebe. It was in the middle of the Ottawa River off Deschenes lookout in the
area where the Razorbill had been frequenting, drifting east with the strong
winds. At around 2:20- 2:30p.m. the bird went out
At the small parkette on Grays Rd in Hamilton, was not able to definitively
locate a Pacific loon in a brief lake watch this afternoon. One loon passed
through and raised some hopes, but spent so little time above water it was
impossible to be certain. It was certainly thin-billed with

Today Ian Cannell and I birded our way to Cobourg and along the way we
encountered some pretty nice birds and the following are some of those birds.
Pacific Loon – swimming on the lake off Thickson Woods near 3 Common Loons for
comparison.

Today my Daughter and I enjoyed being entertained by nice raptor flight
passing over our home. Most of the total below was from casual watching
until my daughter took her nap and allowed Daddy to watch for an hour.
At least 9 Golden Eagles passed by consisting of 5 adults and 4 immatures.
Report for Tuesday 25 October 2011: 13 species of diurnal raptors totaling
588 individuals were seen Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on moderate west
and northwest winds.
