Hello Hawkmates
You probably think I'm getting lazy posting 3 days in one but none of those
days was worth talking about on its own. To be sure we had lots of human
visitors as Mid Sept. is widely known to be peak Broadwing time. What I found
encouraging, and will keep me spouting off until I

I gt to the site at 7:15 pm and the bird was still in the field on the east
side of the road. After the sun set, at 7:30 it flew across the road and into
a group of walnut trees at the south end of the house property on the west side
of the road. I couldn't spot it in the trees in the fading l

Judging from the past week at Presqu'ile Provincial Park, there seems to
be an inverse correlation between fine (/i.e./ pleasant) weather and
abundance of birds. On the weekend, when there was steady rain on
Saturday and intermittent rain on Sunday, the woods and beaches were
alive with birds.

Niagara area birder Don Mills passed away yesterday after a two plus year fight
with cancer. He was a long-time member and a huge supporter of OFO, and was
much involved with the Niagara Falls Nature Club for better than 25 years.

Hello fellow hawk watchers
Thought I would head northwest of London to see if I could find the
broad-winged hawk migration. I started west of Parkhill, birds were just
getting up out of the local wood lots. Drove down to Townsend Line (12) to a
more east to west road, came upon kettles east of

Hi Everyone,
The Say's phoebe was still present from 12:00 until I left at 12:40. Jim
Burk (the finder of the bird) and Allen Woodliffe obtained reasonable
pictures of it. The entire time I was there, it was on top of the empty
tobacco wagons, flying around catching flies, occasionally landing in
This morning a couple hours ago I had a Says Phoebe hunting and sitting in a
recently harvested tomato field. It actually spent a lot of time that I saw it
just sitting on the ground but was also up on nearby buildings.
The bird was visible from the road but hasn't been seen recently.

My dad just showed up and we were able to locate the bird sitting on a couple
tobacco wagons right near the road.

The Parasitic Jaeger that has been seen over the Ottawa River at Ottawa for the
