20 or more Greater white fronted geese were at Jack Miners this afternoon (Jack
Miners south pond in Kingsville, ON)
Plus a few Cackling geese as well.
A few other spots in Essex county have reports of Greater white fronted geese
today.

I observed a flock of approximately 30 Greater White-Fronted Geese at the
Hillman Shorebird Cell at about 4 pm today, Oct 16. Hillman Marsh is about 6
km east of Leamington, Ontario.

Well what a difference a day makes as yesterday's sunshine gave way to rain.
When we started it was pouring and we almost aborted but thank goodness we
didn’t for the rain stopped 15 minutes into our walk and didn’t resume until we
finished after lunch. Seven weather worthy OFOrs joined me

that both - Cranberry and Oshawa Second Marsh were drawn down so much that
almost no water at all exists now ... this made for a challenging
At 6:35pm there are now 78 Greater White-fronted Geese at the Hillman Marsh
shorebird cell. The Hudsonian Godwit is still present. An American Bittern also
flew over the cell.

Hillman Marsh is on Mersea Rd 2 east of Leamington. The Shorebird cell is just

rain today on Amherst Island and were rewarded with some good sightings of a
variety of birds, many of which were waterfowl. Highlights included 2 Black
Scoter and 8 White-winged Scoter, neither particularly common in this

There is currently an alternate plumage pacific Loon swimming amongst a couple
hundred common loons at Minets point park in Barrie.
Also nine little gulls.
This park is on the south side of Kempenfelt bay. Take Essa road exit off of
400, turn right on tiffin st, left on minets point road,
37 Sandhill Cranes north of McFadden Rd and west of Trim south of Navan ON. Birds are more than 1/4 k from road.
