Okay gang, I'll make this real simple. Visit the web site below, and in the body of the article, First Look: Microsoft Security Essentials Impresses, (which I encourage you to read in full to get a good overview of MSE), select one of the three direct download links depending on your OS: XP 32 bit, Vista/Win 7 32 bit or Vista/Win7 64 bit. Once you hit Enter on one of these links, your download will start immediately, and you can complete the set-up and installation , which is simple and straightforward. http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2009/09/first-look-microsoft-security-essentials-impresses.ars Gerald - Original Message - From: blindguy ksong8...@msn.com To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, December 02, 2009 7:20 PM Subject: [Blind-Computing] mse Where can I download MSE? [Blind-Computing] Dropbox strange problem
Hi all, I have a strange problem with the dropbox application. A few days after I installed dropbox the shortcuts from the start menu are deleted. So in the start/programs/dropbox sub menu, there is nothing. I reinstalled the program, but it happened again. And that is only the case with Dropbox. Re: [Blind-Computing] Dropbox strange problem
Is the My Dropbox folder still in your My Documents folder? I just access my Dropbox by adding files or updating files from that folder. I have it synced to two computers so I know it works since they both have the same updated info. I have even put shortcuts from the Dropbox folder on both desktops so I can keep things like my grocery list constantly updated on either computer. I have never accessed the Dropbox from the start menu although it is there. By the way, I really love the Dropbox since it keeps both computers synced and the info is also online in case of a major catastrophe. And it is free. My only mistake was accidentally setting up a second account when hooking up the new computer and ended up with them not synced. But there is a way to unlink an account and link another so I got them both on the same account. The other account is still active and I could probably store things in it that I don't use often since I would have to link and unlink the two accounts. But it would be extra space. Hi Milos, The application must be running in order to upload the files to the server. Re: [Blind-Computing] downloading question
First thing you have to sign up with your local NLS I think so you can get onto the site to download the digital books. Your gismo I've not heard of, but must work like the Victor? Just plug the cable into a USB port on your computer and then to the device or a flash card, and then you go to the site find the book/magazine ya want, and if you've ever downloaded anything, it works the same way, only you have to choose the drive this player is listed once you know so it goes to it instead to your computer. So you might check in my computer once it's plugged in and see what drive it is. Like for the external hard drive I have, it's drive J. So when the download thingy pops up asking you where to save your book to, you either arrow to that drive or if your lucky it might be there by default, but it's best to make sure so you know where it went to so ya can find it, smiles. A few days after I installed dropbox the shortcuts from the start menu are deleted. So in the start/programs/dropbox sub menu, there is nothing. I reinstalled the program, but it happened again. And that is only the case with Dropbox. So what to do to prevent it happening all the time? Best regards! Re: [Blind-Computing] AVG 9
Hi, I agree with Robin in the sense AVG 9 other than the pop up thingy I seem to be lucky to get, but she is not, the rest works pretty good. I might consider the other one after March when this one is up. - Original Message - From: jim rawls jazzpi...@verizon.net To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Wednesday, December 02, 2009 9:41 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] AVG 9 oh boy Patricia, I didn't realize you laid out money for it. I'm kind of sorry you did. I really don't know how to rid yourself of the pop up issue. Others here probably do, but that's why I dumped it. I hope someone is more knowledgeable than I am. I have tried to uncheck everything I felt I could within AVG 9 that could pertain to this in hopes it would stop, but it just continued.. So I enabled the pop up in internet explorer and even though this thing still pops up on me, now with that enabled, I can press the escape key only and I'm back where I was before it appeared. Hope this might be helpful to anyone else using AVG 9. [Blind-Computing] dropbox
Hello everyone, I just installed dropbox tonight, and so far I like it very much. My question is, is there a way to edit or delete your documents online, on the server. If I was working on someone else's computer, and I wanted to make a change to my document on their computer, is that possible? If so, how do I accomplish that? Thanks for any help.
