Ok, being amazon the '2 day free shipping' ordered friday was due to arrive
tomorrow but instead the mailman knocked at my door this sunday at 10am.
Thats good news. More good news is that the new pump appears to be a drop
in replacement and seems to work fine.
However, the pump replacement
Thanks for the info. Never thought of looking on Amazon for this.

Revive old thread for 2016:
Last week my brew pump started sounding weak, running inconsistently. This
morning it wouldn't generate more than 2 bar. No Coffee!
Water flows (albeit slowly) when the portafilter is empty (pump still
sounds gimpy. Not much flow at all when there's a puck in place
Late reply but my 3 year old Brewtus III was doing the exact same thing.
I drained the tanks a fair bit in the process of fully unscrewing the OPV
adjustment and removing the spring to check the rubber seating and looking
for any accumulation or debris.
Nothing found, so I put it back together.
I just wanted to share my experience with my Brewtus-II, because it sounds
similar in some ways.
When I am pulling a shot lately, quite often the pump will become very
quiet, but the speed of the shot apparently remains the same. I haven't
been watching the pressure gauge. My shots taste good,
I would check the OPV -- if that is not the issue --then I'd change out the
pump.
Check to see if the water return rate to the tank varies during the shot.

Thanks for your reply. What should I be looking for with the OPV to
diagnose the issue? My machine only has 1 inlet tube from the water tank,
there is no return tube (not sure if this is because it's the model that
can also be plumbed in directly?). How would I return the water return rate?
I've been having on/off problems with my Brewtus III-V after over 3 years
of ownership. When I flip the lever to pull a shot, the pressure will
ramp-up as normal and then abruptly drop off and the pump will become much
quieter (almost sounds like it's off but it's still going). This lasts for
