As a software developer myself, I can definitively state that the HRD
software is not at fault here. If there is no command in the FT-991A
that will perform the functionality, it cannot do it. I use HRD
myself for occaisional remote connections, and there are a couple
things I can't do on an
I had a similar issue with them some 4-5-6 years ago. I tried the demo
and it would never get to where you could enter anything. The screen was
there but you could not log anything in Demo mode. They told me to
resolve the issue reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows. It
should work

I'll try to get some more paperwork together for the stations for Sunday,
including a "how to call" sheet like we had at Winter Field Day and
hamfest. I
Going to try and make it.

Does someone have a POTA script example like the one they had at the "on the

Yup. Balun is balanced to unbalanced.
Also an un-un is unbalanced to unbalanced. There are antennas out there that
require an un-un.
i think a see-saw is the best example ive seen of a balancing unit. In the
world of antennas, a balancing unit is not something ive ever heard of.

I’ve used Ham Radio Deluxe for many years. I’ve always found their customer
service and their software to be first rate. Digital Gain is usually just a
simple setting in Yaesu Radios. Why not just set it manually, leave it there
and take advantage of the many other features available
What question is that on the ham exam???
I was taught Balun was a acronym for Balanced to Unbalanced.

BVARC,
The Sam Houston Area Council (of Scouts BSA - formerly known as Boy Scouts of
America) has several upcoming Merit Badge Fairs. They would like to offer the
Radio Merit Badge class at each of these events, and they have a number of
interested scouts already signed up.

All,
I purchased Ham Radio Deluxe on 3/10/2023. I did a trial back in 2021 when I
was a new ham and didn’t purchase then, so was no longer eligible for a trial.
Now that I am into FT-8, I was looking for a way to control the DT-G (digital
gain) on my Yeasu FT-991A.
On the website, the first
Balun is a "balancing unit", a transformer, so to speak that allows two lines
to interface with each other, without changing the impedance of either line,
very useful for connecting a coaxial cable to an antenna.

thank you all for your replies, this was humor, and nothing more. I can
not believe that calculating the reactance or inductance of RLC T or Pi
circuits will ever be needed if I never build my own radio. I have spent
many hours learning about antennas, and am happy to let the Japanese learn
